I special ordered about 5 plants, put them on a list, and gave it to Eric. They were going to order them and call me when they were in. About a month later nobody called so I called in and called in and asked about it. The employee told me to call back later because Eric wasnt in (?). I asked if Eric could give me a call back when he gets in, oh sure. Well a few days and no call. I called again and asked about the plants I ordered. Once Eric remembered the list, he located it and proceeded to check if he had any of the plants - maybe one or two in stock, it looked like. At this point it seemed like the plants were not even ordered, he just pulled the now old list out of the desk and checked to see if he had them. I tell him that it was my understanding that the plants would be ordered and when they came in I could just come down and pick them up. He tells me that if the supplier doesnt have these plants he cant order them. I then ask why I never got a call, either to pick up some (one?) plants or even to tell me that the order cant be fulfilled. "Im not sure why you didnt get a call", he said. "What are the chances Im going to get these plants?", I said. "Slim to none", he says. Im completely blown away. He tells me NOW that I cant get them? Ive been waiting eagerly and planning the arrangement of my planted tank and NOW I find out that these plants arent available? Hes the one who took the order a month ago! Hes the one who helped me select them while we were looking through the plant books. So then I tell him, "you know what? Im going to go to another aquarium store and see if they can help me." My give me better service line. And he says, "Ok" So, anyone in customer service will tell you he did nothing to fix the problem or make the customer satisfied. Or even to meet basic expectations of the offered service. And this happened multiple times throughout by several employees. I felt angry that they didnt care enough to offer service, and now I felt like I had to be the one to move along - go shop elsewhere. Ive spent hundreds of dollars there over the past year or so! They know me! Naturally, I was even more shocked when I called back for the owners number and found out he was the owner! If he was an employee I could have corrected his service quality and continued shopping there. But its his business, hell offer service on his own terms. Thanks World of Wet Pets, Good Job

Great Store. I have been a long time customer of this store for their excellent selection of freshwater fish/inverts/plants. Eric (owner) and staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and solution oriented. I find their prices are very reasonable for both live goods and supplies. I have to laugh at some of the negative comments I have read here. As a hobbyist of anything live and in your care, one should do some research on animal(s) you want to keep - before you purchase the animal(s), have problems, and then blame the owner and staff. I have witnessed countless people at their store do exactly the opposite of their recommendations only to pass blame. I feel the need to respond: I have witnessed this staff do the right thing and not sell livestock to customers who clearly have no idea on how to maintain and care for the animal(s). If this is wrong in your eyes, than you should find a good chain store that can replace your animals due to your own negligence. I love this comment, "I walked around for about a half hour (past a few employees that werent helping anyone) before I ended up asking for help". LOL, REALLY? Simply ask for help... Or is the staff supposed to be mind readers? Take some responsibility for your actions, do your own research and listen to the staff that knows what they are talking about...

I have been to this store about 6 times in the last 4 days, and i might be there again today. They are so knowledgable about all things aquatic animals. I have come to this establishment with many questions all of which were answered even if i wish the answer was in my favor.(Like how i want a pretty, semi-aggressive fish... but it wont get along with my beta) You could now ask me about certain fish and their relationship with betas, and even I could tell you. My girlfriend and I returned our aquarium light 3 times and all of which they accepted even though they were slightly opened. Partly because we established a costumer business relationship, but mostly because i got the sense they actually cared about the right equipment for the good of our fish. We even got medical advise for one of our betas and so far its been a drastic improvement from two months ago, when we had no idea what to do except for what the internet told us. (booooo! on us) I suggest coming here if you care about direct answers, knowledge, variety of fish, price, and supporting smaller business. Its where i will continue to go for all of my seemingly endless questions!

We bought five cardinal tetras and a betta here. The betta had something wrong with its fin which we only noticed a few days after we had it. The tetras came down immediately with ick. Now something seems to be taking bites out of the tetras and they are hiding even though I have the betta in a holding net. I dont know if the fish were already sick from the store...we saw ick covering the south american puffers there. I understand from doing research only tetras are sensitive. Why dont stores tell you this kind of thing? We have spent a lot of money on a new filter, a new thermometer, a holding tank for the possible assailant - the betta, and much more gear. Being ignorant newbies we have spent about $150 for the tank kit. And a hundred getting the rest right (new thermometer, filter, salt, different food types since the fish never eat, chemical test kit, timer). The clerks have been very informative, yet perhaps if the fish were hardier and healthier, we could have had an easier and less expensive foray into aquariums.

Eric and Jerry run a a solid operation and are accomidating. They are very busy and with minimal patience they ask what I need( fish, plants or general questions. As any small/successful biz they dont mess around with the "price matching" or other similar chain store services, but they are on point with knowledge. A real hobbiest isnt looking for cheap, they/we want the right gear and the right specimans. NOTE - They stood behind their products enough to take back a 55gl container that leaked after 6mo( manufacture defect) and they took it back and replaced it for free within 3 days. Parents of children who like pretty fish need to read up just a little to save themselves a little money and alot of agony of dealing with disappointed kids. Unlike gettign a puppy, buying a tank and throwing a fish in it on the same day makes for MORE misery. Ask the for Jerry( the bearded guy) or Eric. They know what they are talking about and wont steer you wrong. Best freshwater place in the metro, Mark Laemmert

The customer service here depends greatly on who helps you. Some of the people there I really like, and others pretty much ignore you and are unfriendly. Thats something I would generally work on (wowp, if youre reading this). As for their "knowledge"... this hobby is very imperfect and not entirely understood by anyone. Youre essentially recreating nature in a controlled environment. So theres a lot of information out there that may or may not be correct... a lot of the time its both. My advice is to follow the general advice of the reefers you trust. Judge them based on their success on their tanks. Theres a lot of great videos out there from BRS TV that are great and other reefers who will get you on the right track. So just do your best and have fun with it! Their tanks seem reasonably in good condition and I have yet to receive a death-row coral or fish. Be sure to inspect everything very carefully and use good practices and youll be fine.
