The atmosphere is awesome! The server was great! The menu is awesome! The food was great! The cook never washed their hands. You could see them walk from the side door through the double doors with the axes on them, to the food area. Grabbed a ticket off the printer, looked at it and then grabbed some raw ground meat formed it with their hands and threw it on the grill. Later they took a plastic trash bag out through the side door and came back walked right to the food prep area and started cooking. If I had never saw this I would have never known and would give this place five star rating. I worked in the restaurant industry. Rogue Valley Manner, Medford Oregon. I know the proper practices for health codes. Washing your hands before you touch any surface any product is required. In fact I had all my cooks wash their hands before entering an area where food was prepared or cooked. I was told the owner has another location by another name. I will be getting the name of that establishment and make sure I never eat there. I was with a friend and told her. I will be telling others. This is very unsanitary and dangerous. My health is more important than someones laziness.

The absolute Coolest place to hang in Cottage Grove! Amazing rotating selection of Local Draft Beers, Fresh Squeezed Specialized Cocktails, Super Delicious Dinner Specials and the most Friendly and Attentive staff! You truly feel at Home, like you never wanna leave. There is beautiful and interesting art all over the walls, and a really cool bookstore AND bakery attached. Badass performers from all over the world come to The Axe & Fiddle and there are so many other awesome community events throughout the month! Burgers are to die for, and those crispy fries with their secret house-made ketchup sauce is DA BOMB! The organic local salad greans are so yummy, and add those vegan beans with tempeh it is sooo good. They have a late night menu as well for when the kitchen closes & the bar stays open! Definitely my favorite place in CG <3

First of all, let me begin by saying the food is incredibly delicious. Very fresh and delicious at a fair price. Unfortunately the whole experience was soured by an inattentive bar tender/waitress that was more interested in chatting with the bar regulars (restaurant was empty) than attend us. We had to flag her down repeatedly to get a drink. After waiting almost 30min after we ate to pay, I finally had to interrupt her chat at the bar with her friends to pay our bill (minus tip). We will never come here to eat again.

I have tried coming here for drinks numerous time. Every time Im met with an awkward silence by the people at the bar and the bartender. Like Im intruding on their conversation. Twice the bartender has disappeared entirely. I just gave up trying to come to this place. Strange atmosphere, which is sad because Ive heard great things.

Awesome experience! Called them to see if I could reserve upstairs just two days later, no problem! They were very gracious and accommodating the evening of! Would absolutely book another small event there! Food and drink are awesome as well! Regular live music is truly enjoyable! Thank you, Axe & Fiddle!

Amazing venue with great food. Check for music listings, sometimes often very good music. Ate the MahiMahi, it was cooked perfect & served beautifully. Service is inconsistent, but when you have music youve got time. Love this place, its an iconic venue worth anyones visit

A few weeks ago we stopped in for some dinner and drinks. The chef was having a creative special that night of Turkey heart pate on crostini with roasted vegetable and drizzled in some delicious tangy sauce. The food was amazeballs! my complements to the chef!

I come to the Axe and Fiddle because of the staff. The bartenders and servers and the cooks are so loveable and awesome. They truly care about their customers here. And its always great to look at the local rotating art on the walls!

Nice homey bar, mellow vibe, big organic burgers. No AC but you can sit outside. Open mic nights proceeds go to habitat for humanity. Nice beers. We will come back for music or a science pub.
