This is a great park! Seems to have it all -- multiple areas for day use... river access with a boat ramp... multiple playgrounds (with updated playground equipment -- one having several slides for the kids with a combination of spiral and straight slides)... and a lot of pavilions which would be perfect for large groups meeting up and/or eating. They have several camping areas... with everything from tent camping to small and medium-size RV camping, and even one section (loop) dedicated to RV camping only. We have a big motorcoach (40 foot diesel pusher) and snagged one of the pull-thru "loop" spots. Made it in without issue. Cellular access is perfectly fine, unless youre down the hill near the boat ramp (then it can get spotty for some carriers). In the RV section we were able to get cellular connections good enough for streaming. One note about this park, which is unusual -- the close all the gates at 10:00 PM. Seriously -- they have a guy out there looking at his watch and will lock the gates at 10:00 PM... no sooner; no later. They do this for security reasons, and theyll only open the gates up for an emergency -- so make sure you have all your fun in the area and are back by that time, or you might find yourself parking in the entrance parking lot and walking to your campsite (assuming youre staying the night). We went about 30 minutes out to have dinner with friends... right around 7:00 PM. Portland gets a bit more congested than other cities of the same size -- even on the weekends -- and people LOVE to drive in ALL lanes of the freeway at a slow rate (doesnt seem to be a "slow to the right" mentality in this area). Although we got to the restaurant at 7:00 PM, we barely made it back to the park by 10:00 PM (literally seconds to spare). The gates open back up at 6:00 AM. Its a beautiful park... very well maintained... and the camp hosts were an absolute pleasure to talk to. Everyone seemed to be in a wonderful mood. Book as far in advance as you can, as this is a popular spot in the spring and summer.

2 reviews 4.0 star rating 7/31/2017 Recently stayed at Barton East. This area is the newest and landscaping does not provide much shade or privacy. I was told water supply problems prevented irrigation, hence the lawn areas were quite dry and brown. It is my understanding the water issues have been solved so, hopefully the area will begin to green-up. The showers and restroom areas can use additional attention, cleaning a little more often would be nice. The push button showers are awful. Three button pushes to get past the cold water and if you do another three it moves to the warmer than comfortable side. 30 to 45 seconds per button push. Reminded me of water rationing in the military. For the most part we found campground to be quite nice. All staff and hosts I encountered were pleasant and accommodating. Many people have commented about the rules and some disagree with all or part. It is my opinion that in such a large park that provides areas for overnighters, rvs, and day users certain rules are required to help keep the areas safe and clean for all to use. This area is definitely clean and we always felt secure. Can some of the help possibly benefit from a a visit to "nice" school, sure, but you can find poor service or rude people just about anywhere, if you are looking. Common sense does not find its way into everyones life, unfortunately. We found this campground to be relaxing, and a great place to use as a base while visiting in the Portland area. We enjoyed our stay and tried to extend a few more days, however the park seems to be at capacity on weekends.

We stayed at Barton park for 2 nights. Tonight being the second of those 2. At 10:02 pm my dog started barking. He was tied up with only enough length to stay within our campsite. I got out of my camper to see what he was barking at and a strange young man (26 tops) was standing behind my camper. I walked up to see what he was doing and he says to me "Control your dog!" I said "He is on his leash." He then replies "Well quiet time is 10 oclock and we have received several complaints." My only reply was "Seriously?" Then he sarcastically answered "Yeah, seriously!" I grabbed my dog and put him in the camper. My first thought is Wow! A hello would have been nice. Also how did you receive several complaints within 2 minutes of "quiet time" when he only started barking because you wandered up in the darkness?" Not one person here has said anything to my about my dog since I arrived. This young blonde man needs some training. My dog is a service animal and he did exactly what he is supposed to do. Besides providing a specific medical function that I would rather not share he had been fully trained to alert me when we are not safe. A strange man entering our campground in the dark without announcing himself would meet that specific criteria. I wouldnt recommend this place if you would like to feel safe in your mobile home.

Why hasnt Google implemented a zero or negative star rating?! This would be one of those places. By and far the younger summer staff theyve hired are very friendly and respectful. The seniors that they have as live in tenants to monitor the campgrounds are NAZIS! Were scheduled to be here for a week in the east RV campground but after the lady in the golf cart has made her 3rd pass of the day. Her comments arent exactly rude but theyre definitely strongly undertoned and unappreciated. Parking a friends car in the spot next to us who lives in the area and dropped by to visit for the day is not a crime. There are 50 RV spots and 5 or 6 have trailers in them but "at any moment someone could come to the park and rent that spot" so we had to move the car now! Amazingly its the second day being here and nobody else has come in. Ironically 2 RVs have left. Id hope because their vacation are over and not because of unfriendly run ins with the senior live ins. Hiring grumpy elderly to monitor your park is not a good policy even if you cant find a nursing home that will house them. I didnt come here on vacation to be harassed so a week has been cut short to one night and were headed to the coast to find a friendlier camp sight. Good riddance and good bye!

Im sure it is a great park, but we never got a chance to experience it... We arrived after driving 2.5 hours to float the river that we had never been to because we all were from out of state. Once we arrived we were greeted by the sheriff who informed us that we should not tie our floats together to avoid a ticket. Once we finished getting everything ready to float the sheriff cut us off and asked us to list all the park rules. Once we failed this test he told us that we could not have any alcohol in the cooler we brought. We informed him that we had no idea and we would gladly leave the alcohol and that we were there just to float. He then informed us that we were banned from all county parks for the entire day and if he saw us again we would be arrested for trespassing. I understand that this may be some type of general rule that is enforced but we honestly had no idea and that Sheriff ruined our day that some of us took off work.
