Really a great nearby State Park. During the week there are times when many people arent there. Its kept clean by the park attendants, the State Police check on the park, there are bathrooms that work, there are plenty of fire barbecue high rise pits, tables with benches shady trees for those who like it and sunny spots for those who dont. Its a really nice park that charges $8.00 per car entrance. People genuinely seemed nice during the week day visit.

I really enjoyed coming to this park for the first time. I came on a Saturday with my church group so there was plenty of space for about 100 of us. There are clean bathrooms, basketball courts, a largr baseball field, and a massive childrens playground. The parking is $8 for the entire day. But worth the money.

Dont know if there is really more Id want from a state park. There is designated spots for grilling, two playgrounds( one specifically for 2-5yo). There is also a walk/bike trail along with exercise equipment for kinesthetic exercises. There is free parking during the week and $8 before 4pm on the weekends.

I was on my way to Hempstead Lake State park and I happened to pass by this park and WOW! I stopped by and thoroughly enjoyed myself! The hiking, biking and jogging trails are peaceful, clean and just a great place to workout or hangout. I will be a frequent visitor to this park.

VS State Park enables one to escape the ubiquitous noise and traffic on LI. I recommend finding time to walk the trails. You might see a rabbit or two, some squirrels, but the wildlife is pretty limited. I once stumbled across a falcon.

Park is big and has everything you need to have a great time with the family, plenty of picnic tables and grills lots of green area to set a blanket and chill, the park changed all the kids playing are new and better swings for all ages

Very nice for a walk, jog, and bike riding. Needs improvement/renovation on lanes (should be more wider with better pavement) also the lake on one side needs to be cleaned otherwise its a great park for the community!

Nice bike and walking paths that are shaded with oak trees. BBQ pits and picnic tables. Recreation for the kids. Nice lake and paths to ride or walk along. Very crowded during summer months.
