After reading all the negative comments and reviews about this place i was unsure if i wanted to bowl there. But after i decide to give that place a shot i realize that it wasnt bad at all. The price there are quite cheap, they even have specials all the time. The employee there were really nice but just a bit slow... they came to help me out when i ask for it and their help was always satisfying. They even offered me the weekend specials when i didnt even know there was any and I gladly accepted the offer. The place is also pretty clean compare to most places. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a non-expensive and enjoyable time place for bowling, and also i would recommend you to go there before 10am if you can wake up early, this way you wont have to wait until there is another available lane. If you hate waking up early then i recommend you to go before 3 30pm, this way when other leaves for what ever reason such as late lunch, you would be able to get a lane. Also i would suggest you to bring your own bowling ball if you cant lift a 10lb easily because there arent many 9lbs and under with M,L,or XL size.

The worst place ever! Came there with my daughter and husband. My baby was dreaming about bowling, so we took 3 games and we were having fun. My husband wanted to buy glass of beer, but bar was closed, someone told him that he can bring from outside, what he did. After that the one of the staff came to me personally, she was very rude and told ME, that we cant drink alcohol from outside....if so, she had to say that to my husband, not to me!!!! Or put the restricted signs all around. The staff was unfriendly in there, rude and nasty. She was sure he bought some more beer and that, very disgusting person closed out our line, when we were playing only the second game!!! I didnt want to have conflict cus our daughter was with us, they tried to apologize to me as I didnt have beer AT ALL AND anyway they didnt open our line so I asked them to give me back my money for the 3rd game, they didnt make any refunds to me!!!! The worst place ever, the worst service I ever had! Staff has to be trained and have qualifying customer service skills! These people are doomed ignoramus!!!!!!!! If Id only could, I would put minus 5 stars

I can only speak from personal experience, but my time at Shell Lanes was a fantabulous whirlwind of wholesome fun and low-cost bowling. I went with two friends for the $5 Unlimited Bowling special from 3:30-5:30 on Monday night (shoe rental was $3.75). This was $5 for 2 hours, which translated into roughly 4.5 games. A cheap game in Manhattan runs about $6. Besides the price being excellent, the staff were efficient and friendly enough. Ive heard some complaints about gruffness, but everyone was pretty welcoming. The lanes werent sparkling, but I no problems with cleanliness like some others. In the end, Shell Lanes is the antidote to everything thats wrong about bowling in NYC today. Whereas all the Manhattan lanes have transformed into bustling nightclubs where bowling is the second focus and prices are exorbitant, Shell is a temple, a holy space, in which one can sit back, relax, and enjoy the art, the experience, and the fun of bowling.

I went with my 5 friends (were all 16 years old) from the minute we walked in they had attitude. Tried to put down our umbrellas right away the cashier started yelling dont put your things down there. We asked for bumpers they said "are you handicapped you cant have bumpers" we asked for a slide for one of our members another "no" they said "youre old enough to play without it" then when it came time to pay we were each paying with our own money the cashier said "no no i have no change for you too bad youll have to pay together" . Overall an awful bowling experience. Awful customer service. They mission statement seems to be how can we scare away the MOST customers. Save your money go ELSEWHERE!!!

Horrible attitude. I went there with my husband last night & no sense of appreciation when we are paying them. I ask a simple question like; "How long would it take to wait? " At first he said some what people are ahead in a nasty attitude. Than when it was my turn finally the tom boy looking girl behind the counter was being so obnoxious when I simply told her not to take the bowling shoes that I just received & she handed them back to me with an attitude on her face. No brains!! & NO RESPECT WHEN PEOPLE ARE SUPPORTING THEIR UGLY RUDE BEHIND.. SHAME ON THEM!!! & the place is disgustingly dirty & which I had to wash my hands several times btw!!

I believe that all the reviews below are false. The poor service and nasty attitudes definitely ruined what couldve been a fun night. First the man refused to give us 2 games because it would be bad for their business, so we were forced to purchase 3. Then they said that we cannot play at the corner tables because it is suspicious when people request it. The night didnt end there... after the first game, one of the workers came up to us and took away all the light balls and left only the heavy 14lb balls which were IMPOSSIBLE to even pick up. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!

This place had many lanes so its perfect for larger groups of people. There was also a bar downstairs for any adults if they want a drink. It was also very cheap to start another game ($4). Plus there is a café-like area upstairs where you can crap something to eat. Also upstairs were some games, a party room and the bathroom. My only problems were the fact that upstairs was poorly lit, and the bathrooms were not the cleanest. In addition, this lady behind the counter downstairs seemed to have an attitude and was very rude

Being the only bowling alley left in southern brooklyn, you have no other choice if you wanna bowl a game. Pricing is fine, cleanliness is alright, water is over a dollar for a bottle, and the staff is pretty rude. Asked for bumpers because 2 people in our group had never bowled before and we were told no because we "arent ten years old." Would give 2 stars but I gotta give them credit for staying open when all the other alleys went out.

Some of the people who work here are extremely rude, especially the fat white guy usually manning the register. The lanes have warped floor boards near the foul line. They only accept cash. Here was my conversation with the fat man on Feb 24, 2017: ME: Hi Im here for the special. HIM: How many people? ME: 8. HIM: Haha (In the most sarcastic way). See you in two hours (Rudely with a pissed off face).
