Since my full name is listed here, I will be careful how I word this. The young lady at the desk was Very friendly. The custodian was very friendly. However, that is where this ended. The museum was ok. The water color room was fantastic! Having said that, the "art cop" how was there was incredibly rude and obnoxious! He followed us around the museum as if we were going to steal the artwork! We spoke to him and he didnt even respond. He made sure we knew he was the "big guy" and was willing to tackle us if we did the wrong thing. He alone made the experience VERY uncomfortable. Needless to say, because of him we will NOT be going back...EVER! This was our experience, hope yours is better. Good luck.

Dont forget about this gem in town! Everybody drives past it daily, but remember to stop in. Its kid friendly, fully wheelchair accessible, and educational to boot. Whats not to love? If you have small children, go too! They have a childrens area and they allow you to close the doors to keep the children in that area and youre free to sit down and relax while the toddlers/babies play and explore their surroundings.

While visiting from Los Angeles, I was impressed to find this gem of an art museum in Springfield. It featured a broad and substantial selection of printmaking works: woodcuts, lithographs, etchings, drypoint, intaglio, aquatint, and silkscreen. Be sure to see the Japanese multi-color woodblock prints, including a print from Katsushika Hokusais Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.

Was visiting my daughter who majors in art at Drury University and so we visited Springfield Museum. The overall visit was fine but we found the staff to be very rude. Not a good way to entice future visits. We have visited Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City multiple times and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

This is a very nice art museum. The fact that its free, makes it incredible. They have rotating galleries, and a great kids zone. The museum is clean and comfortable and quiet and the staff is friendly and polite. Its a place you can go and truly enjoy the art in peace. Always a great place for a little relaxation and fun.

I have lived in Springfield for 17 years and never visited the Art Museum. My daughter has artwork featured their right now so of course it was a must to check out. What a great family outing!! Best of all...ITS FREE!!!

Make the time to visit this place. Its free, there is always an I testing featured display. Ive enjoyed every minute Ive ever spent there. I wish I had more time to visit.

Not as big as some art museums but great variety. Everything from local elementary school kids works to world famous artists. Changes exhibits fairly frequently.

A great place to visit with family or when you need some inspiration. The facility is beautiful and the people are friendly, welcoming, and engaging.

Had a great time watching a concert in the auditorium. I did not get a chance to view the exhibits, but they look intriguing. I will be back

It is okay. Nice collection. But couldnt finish the visitation due to fire alarm. Some staffs were less friendly, but others were kind.

Love the art here! The string art is kinda trippy! They also have interesting shows and speakers, always worth checking out!
