I have to agree with the other posters that Sonny Guy is hardly the "premier" golf course in the metro area. HOWEVER, in its defense, I must point out the following: 1) Its the cheapest course in town and you dont even need a tee time. 2) For a beginner who just wants to get comfortable on a course, Sonny Guy is just about right. The fairways and holes are almost all straight, little to no water or sand hazards to worry with, and Ive rarely seen it crowded so you dont feel rushed. True enough, some of the greens are dry, patchy and ragged, but remember, you will pay 2 or 3x more for just better greens. The terrain is really flat too, and for a beginner just getting a feel for the game that can be a help. For what it is, I cant see putting it down too much. I didnt go out there expecting the CC of Jxn or Annandale. I mean, it is what it is, but it still serves as a golf course. You might try to make sure your cart is juiced up good though before you leave the clubhouse. I went through 3 carts out there one time.

One of the worst managed courses I have ever played. The fairways were so overgrown, that I lost 10 balls in the FAIRWAY. No water anywhere. The garbage was overflowing. The tee boxes were overgrown and could hardly find a spot to tee off. There were so many people playing in large groups 5-6 people that it took forever to play. There is no martial to move people along. At the desk, it was like a party with all the people in there talking with the people working there, and ignoring customers. The grill was dirty and cluttered. I cant believe that someone is actually paid to work there because no one is doing there job! I will not be back!

Played on 9/2/10 and the course is cheap, but not nice. This course has some of the worst greens Ive ever seen. Im not used to super-nice courses either. The city of Jackson needs to put some work into this course. The back 9 of the course is much better than the front 9, but its still pretty bad. Probably wont play there again.
