We we very underwhelmed. We entered our suite through very dim lighting and were greeted by a room with poor quality furniture, peeling wallpaper, knobs off furniture, a pull missing from a shade and a bed that looked lumpy! We determined that the comforter had all the stuffing in hard, tight balls that left no filling for warmth. My husband actually said that we should have brought our own comforter and pillows. (The pillows were miserable and full of lumps as well.) The decorator needs to be fired as the cheap furniture was not set off well by the flea market prints of lighthouses - what do lighthouses have to do with Stillwater and the lovely St. Croix? The bathroom was missing tile, the tub needed new caulking or at least a spray of bleach to get rid of the black mold, the shower curtains should have been left at Wal-Mart and someone should have purchased curtains that were long enough to reach below the lip of the tub by more than one inch. Our steaks were good at dinner and the dinner staff was very helpful. However, we were told three times that we could take our dessert back to our room. This didnt seem like a problem until breakfast... We normally would not have used the television on a romantic getaway but the music from the hotels pub was too loud and needed to be tempered to allow at least a little sleep. I awoke at 6:00 - frozen due to the poor comforter. So I showered in the moldy tub, but we couldnt even go to breakfast as that wasnt served until 9:00. We had to go for coffee and then RETURN for breakfast. (We felt like captives!) At breakfast we were to have three courses. The server told us that she wouldnt bother bringing the fruit if we didnt want it... um, we never said we didnt want the fruit platter. Perhaps this was a kind attempt at telling us that we didnt want the fruit since there was some mold on a strawberry. There was a full lipstick print on a coffee mug as well. After we showed the lipstick and strawberry to the server she informed us that we were having a bad morning, but offered no apology! So... back to the three time offer to send our supper dessert with us to go... the server kept telling us that we could take our breakfast dessert with us! We listened as we were eager to get out of there and did not feel welcome to have a leisurely breakfast even though the dining room was nearly empty. Stay if you must, but you will not see us there again!

We were very excited for a get away weekend over my wifes birthday. We purchased the "Romantic Package" for an additional $99. This was a very odd experience overall. First off, our hallway sounded like there was a train running through it. When we booked we were told that we were going to have the best room that they had. Glad we didnt get the second best. The room was set up very oddly. When walking in there was a decent sized room that had the bed and and armoire with an old TV. Walking through that room took you to the bathroom and then the living room area. The living room area had a small hot tub, a small flat screen tv above the fireplace, an arm chair, a desk, and a very small "loveseat" My wife described it as something you would put in your entryway so people could sit to put their shoes on. What was most odd was that this room as actually quite large, so there was a ton of empty space. It had a great view of the river, which was nice, but it left us wondering why they didnt set the "couch" and TV area up where the bed was and move the bed into this nicer area with the fireplace, hot tub, and great view. Instead you are left with an almost unusable room due to the lack of comfortable seating. The food was ok at dinner, nothing great, but not bad. The breakfast buffet was awful. Cold eggs, cold bacon, etc. Waffles were good, but thats about it. Also, there was a wedding the night we stayed there. We were on the third floor, the wedding was on the first floor. We heard the music from the dance well into the night. I cant imagine what the floors closer to the dance must have sounded like. Yikes! The hotel overall seems to be falling apart. The nozel on the tub was very loose, the shower knob was alarmingly loose and was very hard to turn off, the canopy bed had some very sloppy repairs done to the canopy area, which we made sure to test out so we didnt wake to a collapsing bed in the middle of the night. I dont think well go back, unless there are new owners. This place has everything it needs to be an amazing hotel, but it just falls dissapoiningly short. For the price that they charge I would have expected a much nicer experience, and a much better cared for building.

HORRIBLE!! We wait for an hour an a half for our food. After waiting 15 minutes for drinks, I finally went to the bar to get our drinks. I asked our waitress to get the manager when our food finally came. She said she was too scared to get him. I found him and asked him to come to our table when he gets a second. After 15 minutes I saw him walking around so I went up to him again.. He rudely said he would be over. When I asked for a discount or a comp because of the wait he literally asked us lairs and said there was no way we waited an hour and a half. (In the mean time the table next to us left because they had waited an hour and a half). He preceded to say he would prove we were lying and left. Two customers came up to us and said they too have been waiting more than an hour and the manager will not come to their tables. When he came back he had the food ticket which showed the food was rang in at 2:40 ( we ordered at 1:30, so obviously our waitress forgot to put our order in). When I said that we ordered at 1:30, he told me I was wrong and started yelling at us that we had to pay for the entire meal. I told him I did not want to pay for a meal that took a hour and a half he screamed that he was calling the cops. I asked him to leave our table ( as I do not appreciate being yelled at). The police came, they were very nice and definitely couldnt believe the manager was still yelling at me and the cop.. We ended up paying the bill and left. One the way our a bartender stopped us to apologize. He unfortunately said the owner was no better and does not "allow" comps. I cant believe a restaurant like this is still in business.

Reserved this for a girls night get away for me and my girls. Stay was a bit strange. Hotel smelled AWFUL. I wonder if they ever clean carpeting, drapes and furniture. Almost walked out at check out but my girls walked around and found the rest of the hotel "not as bad", so we stayed. Everything smelled. Had to get use to it, When we would walk into the room, it took about 30 minutes for it to not smell as bad. There seemed to be only a sheet on the beds so we called for more blankets. When the person was upset that we needed blankets. Apparently they put sheets over the white comforter so it looks like just sheets. We offered to give her the blankets back and she got upset and said no, to keep them. We wanted room service and there was no menu, so we called for one and the guy seemed put out. Then we ordered, and the food was brought and they wanted to take my card downstairs and run it and bring it back. NOT a good idea. So I had it added to the room charge. The decor was, although correctly dated, seemed slapped together. Trim around the hot tub was pulling away and it does not leave me thinking it is clean. Water was able to get inside. Mold??? Maybe that was part of the smell. Although we got a large area for gathering there was not a comfortable space, just a space. Plenty of chairs however. Sleeping was comfortable. Very. Food was good. Front desk was pleasant. I would NOT stay there again however, as it seemed to be just too much SMELL.
