Overall, extremely disappointing. Not just because of one thing, but several constant events. We will never go back (after giving it a second chance). We bought tickets two weeks in advance. I let the girl on the phone know I had never been there. I asked if there was a "will call" window so I wouldnt have to wait in the line to buy tickets. We got there and there was no "will call," and we had to wait in an extremely long line. Then we found it was first come first serve seating. The only two left were in the back corner that we could not even comfortably walk to. My poor husband was so claustrophobic that we decided we would leave without seeing the show. I called them to let them know of our experience. The lady I spoke to was extremely helpful and let us take a rain check for the show. We were very happy. We came back, and were there right when they opened the doors. When we were the first to be seated, we tried to ask for a round table. They did not want us to sit there because of how they fill the audience (front first, then to back). I get it. Since the seats werent far back they did let us sit there.... Then the manager came up and asked us to move to a different round table because they were doing a small show and not filling those seats. We were fine with that. Later on they filled those seats and some. I didnt understand. We then ordered food. My food came out, and the server said my husbands was on its way. 15 minutes later he got his food. Mine was cold. It was also not very good at all. Bland, and the chicken Parmesan sandwich had no marinara on it making it very dry. I ordered a martini. Not only are the glasses very small for an $11 martini, but they filled it about 3/4 of the way. It looked like someone took a drink out of it. I asked for the server to fill it a bit more. She said, "I agree its ridiculous, but the owner is in town and we have to pour them this way." She then said she would bring it back since I said something. She came back with a new one, with generally the same amount in it and said its the best she could do. The martini was sub par and not worth it. Then I got the bill. My $11 martini (that I pointed to off the menu) somehow became a $12.07 martini w/ top shelf vodka. The comedians were good. I laughed a bit, but honestly since the service was so bad, it made for an overall lame experience. At this point we just wanted to pay the tab and leave. Mind you we were extremely polite about the martini being so small. They had absolutely no regard for us as paying customers. We spent $100 that night alone on drinks and food. If it were a couple things here and there, I get it, but there were so many disappointments we will never go back. Ever. Definitely bring your business elsewhere. You wont regret it.

The comedy was good. I think the positive parts really end there. The doors opened 15 minutes late which is fine but really started the night on a note that would show how bad this venue was. I was sneered at when I asked if I could use my e-ticket because their scanner was dead I guess and I needed to go print them out at the desk. We were seated and had our order for food taken. The food took an hour and we were within the first 10 people in the place. The food was extremely simple and Im not sure in what way it takes that long to make a flatbread. Our food arrived and was given to the wrong party. We didnt get any silverware or napkins and needed to track someone down in order to find a fork. The drinks were poorly made and very syrupy. Not really that acceptable for how expensive they were. We asked for a glass of water at some point, sure to say glass as we say they were handing out many bottles of water. We also got a bottle and were charged for it, having never been told it would be 2.50 for water. I feel like it really fits with the theme to really nickle and dime you as much as possible. I could not stop laughing at how horrible the videos before the show were. They were so clearly created by someone completely out of touch. The first was 5 minutes of comedians yelling Rick Bronsons house of comedy in silly voices. It might have been entertaining if I was a baby amused by silly voices and faces. The second was ADCDs Thunderstruck over a video of the city. Was this suppose to amp me up? It looks like it was made in 5 minutes in windows movie maker with a house of comedy logo spinning endlessly in the middle of the screen. The coup de gras was the multiple times we were told to rate them 5 stars online and we would receive free tickets if we gave them a good review. Well that is just a straight up bribe. Im really not interested in the bribe. 1 out of 5 stars.

House of Comedy fails in almost every way possible. "Minnesota State Statute 340A.502 states that no person may sell, give, furnish, or in any way procure for another alcoholic beverages for the use of an obviously intoxicated person. Violation of this statute is a gross misdemeanor. City Ordinance 360.60 states that no person shall sell or serve any beer or liquor to any intoxicated person, nor permit any intoxicated person to remain on the licensed premises. Violation of this ordinance is a misdemeanor." Lets keep this in mind as I explain what I experienced at my first, and last, visit to this establishment. I decided to do something different with a friend of mine. We booked VIP tickets online early in the morning. After arriving a half-hour early to the show, as they asked, they couldnt find our names on the list. One of the attendants, asked us to simply find a table in the VIP area. After sitting for 20 min. a waitress finally showed up to take our drink order. 15 min into the set, the other VIP guests arrived. They were obviously drunk and made a huge deal about all sitting together. The host then proceeded to knock chairs around, run into my friend and I, and then finally tell us to move to a different table. Nice guy, real nice. Even though the entire party was beyond wasted, making noise and just being rude they were served more drinks, until one of them started breaking glassware and were finally kicked out. In the middle of the set, which was a huge disturbance to the show. All of this could have been avoided if they had been refused service to begin with. The room itself is tiny, dirty and sad. The set up is horrible, as people are constantly walking around and provides a huge distraction. Felt honestly bad for the comedians who were doing their best to keep the set together. Better luck at State Theater.

The House of Comedy is a terrible place to see a show. My wife and I caught T.J. Miller last evening, and even though he was on top of his game, the place is an awful environment to see a show. First off, the surroundings are dismal, horribly lit and uncomfortable, and you have to shift in your seat in order to face the stage (compare this to Acme, where every seat is angled to face the show.) The acoustics are bad and you can hear sounds from the Mall coming in through the door. When the show begins, inexplicably theres a video of a Saturday Night Live skit from years ago (five years at least) that is apropos of nothing--God forbid you would show a clip from one of their forthcoming comedians. But the worst part is that they have no crowd control. Theres a Powerpoint slide before the show reminding customers not to talk, which they then seem not to enforce. At TJ Millers show (and during the MC and openers act) one woman kept talking, they tossed her, but then another couple, celebrating their wedding anniversary, drunkenly interrupted the show constantly. Miller had to include them in his act, and it clearly threw him off (and it is to his credit and professionalism he was able to rebound, and rebound well.) This pair of drunks wasnt talked to once until the guy stood and fell over another customer. And they werent the only ones. Ive never been to a show with so many people shouting crap at the performers, over and over and over. Ive had some issues with Acme, but they know how to put on a show. If your favorite performer is playing at the House of Comedy, be satisfied with watching them on television and wait for them to come to Acme. If you love comedy, this is the last place on earth you want to be.
