What a great ride! My husband was pouting because he wanted to rent a jeep & drive the dunes himself, but this was much more fun for the whole family. Our driver, Michael, was funny & entertaining. We learned about the lost city under the dunes & what created the dunes. My husband even said he was glad we did this tour after all. Both my kids loved it, at 14 my oldest sometimes seems unimpressed by anything but he was laughing & running down the sandy hill like the other kids :). And my 12 yr old said he just loved it & it was really fun. Its really close to the highway, we drove down from Grand Haven before heading home to the Detroit Metro area.

Just went on this tour on 6/28/2015. The girl in the office wasnt very friendly, but our tourguide/driver more than made up for it. We not only enjoyed the hair-raising parts of the ride, but our tourguide made the trip memorable. Not only did he make it feel dangerous (it wasnt), he made it entertaining. He was knowledgeable of history and loved harassing us for being from Ohio. Not only did we enjoy it, we highly recommend it for anyone looking for an exciting experience. Our guide was an energetic guy with a boonie hat and goatee with a wild mushroom t-shirt on. Do it!! You wont regret it!!!

Great family activity! The kids (ages 1 and 5) had the best time and we all loved it. Its a 6 row open top truck, and we sat in the center row. They kids were laughing and cheering the whole time, and they didnt want the rider to end. The driver was funny, kind, and informative and made the ride perfect. He stopped a few times along the way to give us some history and tell about the landscape. Cute little souvenir and snack place to get some treats before or after your ride. Book ahead, they sell out fast! We booked online the day before and there were only 2 times available for the day.

You MUST do the dune ride if youre near Saugatuck or Douglas. Our family really enjoyed the ride. It was the perfect mix of a "thrilling" fun ride with just enough information and history to make us feel like we learned something. Our guide (Aaron) was awesome and made the ride really enjoyable. We were able to get out of the jeep at the top of a dune for a great view of the surrounding area and Lake Michigan. The person sitting next to me had been on the dune ride 4 times already, and I see why. Totally recommended.

I called in May to schedule a group of 100 people, willing to pay in advance, for the first weekend in September and they were not interested in my business. The first time I called I was treated with respect and was told my group would be able to go, but the next two times I called to finalize my reservation the workers were very rude. They said my group was too big and they did not want my business. It is very frustrating when you are trying to plan a fun weekend and it is ruined by places like this.

They dont take reservations or allow pre-purchase of tickets so unless you are staying only a few minutes away than I wouldnt bother going. Looks to be fun but it may not be worth the ride here to be turned away because of their own short comings. Dont bother calling either because what they tell you one the phone may not be what you hear when you actually show up. Skip this one and drive up to where you can drive rather than being a passenger and you can reserve your time slot with a down payment.

So tried to call no answer looked online for some rsvp system nothing. We get there guy was asking for two people so we ran inside lady we waiting for was like he full we looked no he was not and why he say he needed two people than also she like there a two hr wait. Wow cant answer phone to tell people or make rsvp i have things to do than wait two hrs. Maybe the owner needs to hire more people. Btw the lady was very rude. sad i wont be back cause i loved this ride.

I Do it

Do yourself a favor and take the ride up to Mears. This place had a two hour wait about ALL day. We came back at 5 and they said they had no room for the rest of the day. They only run about 2 or 3 cars at a time so if you expect to go and do something right away dont go here. We went to Mears on the Macdune ride and waited 15 minutes and got right on. Macdunes runs ATLEAST twice if not more cars.

Who knew Michigan had sand dunes! Fun experience for all ages. John, our driver, shared a lot of interesting information and history about the Dunes and made it fun. No reservations - First come, first serve. We only had to wait about an hour even though they were really busy. John said they often sell-out by 2, so get there before that time to assure a ride on that day.

Saugatuck Dune Rides was easy to find and was reasonably priced compared to other dune rides that I looked in to. The guide was very educated on the area and gave great information along our ride. He was very funny and friendly which made all of us feel comfortable and safe. The ride was very smooth with gorgeous scenery! Would recommend for everyone to go and try it out!

We stopped here on our way to South Haven first thing in the morning. Best idea and highlight of our trip. The ride lasts about 45 minutes. Our driver was Steve and was very funny and knowledgeable. We had plenty of stops for pictures. The ride is a lot of fun but also surprisingly educational. We would highly recommend it and would definately do it again.

I may be the person who has ridden this ride more than some of the staff! It is a must do! I always take people new to Saugatuck on the dune ride. And I may be able to recite the ride verbatim, its well worth it! The have a great staff and the view at the top is worth every penny! To bad that dont have a frequent rider program! All in all great fun!!!

Make sure you call before driving to the place. Surprisingly enough we called in an hour and half back to confirm there will be enough place and thst they are not booked. We were told its fine and what a great customer service when we arrived. So much so that not sure even if the ride may be best I would think twice before coming or stopping by.

Awesome little time. Our guide was a funny feels with a sense of humor. Offered some interesting local historical facts about the area during the tour. The fine ride was a blast. Yes they go fast. Yes your getting sand in your hair. But its fun the kids will love it and I highly recommend you take the time for it.

Great attraction. We arrived shortly after open and there was already a decent crowd/line. Our driver was John and he did an excellent job. Various informative stops about the dunes, along with one to get out and enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend and would even consider doing it again on a return trip.
