Awful experience - I recommend golfers stay away. Course - design is cramped and conditions a mixed bag. The greens are well-designed and properly maintained. They appropriately hold but still roll smooth and true. The fairways look like an under-construction mess. Some areas are professional grade, other areas belong on 9-hole rock pile cow pasture. You need to exercise extreme caution driving the rough - some areas drain so badly your cart could sink in what looks like grass. Expect plugs in both the fairway and rough. Bunkers are shallow and are well kept. The tees are a mixed bag - some well kept some half grass half dirt. The course grounds have some nice landscaping in places and reasonable signage. Management Professionalism - totally incompetent. The course was mildly busy. On the front nine my wife and I played wait free in about 1 hour 30 minutes. When we drove up to make the turn the Pro Shop attendant had decided to send a 6-some off 10 and there was a foursome waiting on 10 tee. Number one had a 4-some in the fairway and a foursome on the tee. During the wait I asked the Pro Shop attendant why a 6-some was sent off the back. He told me "number one was getting pretty backed up so he shifted some to the back". Anyone who knows anything about golf doesnt allow 6-somes at all and definitely wouldnt send them off the back interrupting 18 hole rounds. It took us 35 minutes before we started 10 and another hour before we finished number 12. We had to quit as 30 minutes a hole is wildly unpleasant. There are good alternatives in the area: Diamond Springs (Hamilton), Ravines Golf Club (Saugatuck).

My experience started out with a pro quoting me a rate and arriving at the golf course to find out that there was a rate increase. That wasnt the worst of it. The woman working the desk accused me of making up a rate. Once we got out to play the course, I noticed they had a lot of water issues and unkempt cart paths. At the turn, we stopped in at the grill to get a drink. The restaurant manager practically attached us for buying drinks even though the course only had a few people on it. Over the next few minutes, it was obvious that the owner, desk clerk, and restaurant manager had worked themselves up into a frenzy regarding the rate issue. All we wanted was a little food at the turn and a pleasant day of golf. This is NOT a visitor friendly place and with all the golf options in Michigan, there is no need to frequent this place.

Golf course conditions have shown marked improvement under new course superintendent. Drainage much better than before 2014. Not the newest and shiniest course in the area, but has an old school feel with narrow fairways and small greens. Fun track to play, as expected it can be busy during tourist periods. What separates this course from others in the area is the fabulous restaurant and bar that overlooks the course. The "hands on" owners genuinely care that you enjoy your experience at Clearbrook, and you will frequently see them prepping in the afternoons for the dinner hour. Check it out, youll be glad you did. Mel

Year-in, year-out, whatever the season, dining at Clearbrook is a delight. We dine there dozens of times a year. The service is professional and personal. The staff seems to enjoy their work. The food is varied, yet always of high quality. Salads and fish are our favorites. And the surroundings are welcoming. The Grille Room and bar are especially cozy. Any stay in Saugatuck deserves a lunch or dinner at Clearbrook.

The drainage problems have been resolved, for the most part. The staff, both in the pro shop and on the course, are friendly and polite--unfailingly so. Its been a pleasure to play there regularly. Dick

Warm, friendly service is always present. For starters, the chicken pate is a winner. Walleye is great, and the pork cutlets are a real value. If you want a burger, its the best in the area.

Worse steak I have ever had. Shoe leather. When I tried to comment that it was too well done, I was told by owner to order med rare next time. Wont be a next time. Terrible.

Great golf course for a good value. The restaurant is great but is closed on Monday just so you know. Highly recommend a round of golf and a great lunch or dinner!

Restaurant usually does a great job, although, last time my meal was served cold. Draft beer selection was also limited. Desserts and entrees are very strong.
