I recently went to Comus Inn for dinner. We were one of two tables when we arrived, and yet the service was terrible. Our server could not have been nicer, but the general manager was more than obviously pushing him to only work with the other table there. It took a ridiculous amount of time to receive each of our courses, and when I asked for extra dressing for my salad it was a good 15 minutes later that I received it. I was given coffee with no sugar, and it was another 15 minutes before I was given some. The first large table left and another showed up and it was the same situation. The general manager was schmoozing with them in the most disgusting way, while we sat trying to make eye contact to get more water, or the extra dressing, or the sugar. The food was thankfully good, but the service was the worst Ive ever seen. We had a gift certificate, which apparently they dont get often. Our server said the only person who could input the certificate was the general manager, who would not even take a minute to do it. Finally he attempts it and couldnt figure it out. He continues to go to the other table while we sit with no drinks or food in front of us while we wait 45 minutes for the check to come back to us. 45 minutes is inexcusable! You would think that he might offer a free drink while we wait or something. No apology. We will never ever go back. Too bad, there was a great view.

A friend and I had been talking about checking out The Comus Inn for a while and we finally made our date! Upon arriving, the staff was outstanding. The host, was very friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable about the facilities. We were also greeted by the owners. Both the owners were well spoken and very proud of their establishment. We were seated directly by the window in the back and the view was breathtaking and serene!! Shortly after we were seated, a jazz singer was setting up nearby and the light music was another treat to our evening. Our waitress was very professional and attentive at all times. Our drinks were never left with less than half the glass! She also answered every question we had about the food. Our first course of shrimp and smoked mozzarella was amazing! The dinner course of crab imperial stuffed lobster with roasted tomato and corn salad was absolutely outstanding as well. Finally the dessert we shared, a Chess Pie, was exceptional as well. It was an exquisite dining experience and we never felt rushed. After dinner we walked around the grounds to take in more of the scenery and it was so amazingly beautiful. My friend and I do plan on going back with our husbands for a double date and to enjoy this amazing experience again! I would recommend The Comus Inn for a romantic dinner date, or simply a great experience to share with friends!

I have dined at Comus Inn several times and each time, I walk away thinking, what an amazing culinary experience! Since each of my experiences at Comus Inn have been amazing, I decided to have my birthday there this year and am SOO happy that I did. First off, the service is absolutely unbeatable – the staff was incredibly attentive (yet not in an overbearing way) and the servers have always made great suggestions. In fact, every time I have been to Comus Inn, I am impressed with how the serves are so well versed on the menu and are able to give an impeccable presentation about their specials for the evening and make it sound just as appetizing as they truly are! The food is always beautifully presented and the portions are more than what you might expect at a high-class restaurant! But the thing that made the entire experience even more special is how the General Manager came by a few times to make sure everything was to my liking – he truly wanted to make it a special night and he did! I look forward to coming here again in the very near future!! On a final note, the view is absolutely stunning so I recommend getting there early enough to see it before it gets dark.

A friend and I drove up from the city. Shed heard good things about this place and supposedly happy hour had some okay deals. I had the crab and corn fritters with tomatillo and avocado sauce. My avocado sauce was gray from being old and the crab didnt taste like crab at all. I dont drink and I even told the staff that I only wanted water but they kept trying to get me to try their wine at half price. I finally had to insist that they do not mention alcohol to me anymore. My friend had the Southwest chicken rolls and she said they were no different than what you could get at Chilis. Luckily, we went for happy hour so the prices werent too bad. I cannot imagine paying premium prices for this "franchise food" on other days of the week. On top of that, a couple of waitresses were sitting at a table on a laptop laughing the entire time we were there. I wont be going back to the Comus Inn but I might try some other place on Sugarloaf Mountain.

Was my first time here and it was a fantastic experience! The view is wonderful! Overlooks their backyard/outdoor reception are, and the farm field and mountains. Historic/rustic feel to the place. Food was delicious! First time Ive ate non-raw oysters and Had their roasted garlic oysters - OMG I can eat this non-stop! They make their alcoholic beverages on the sweeter side, or lighter liquor pending how u view that, but still tasty. First time Ive had grits - very Good, came with my order of Osso Bucca - very tender. I did wish it was slightly less dry but great flavoring. Their butter for bread was so deliciously sweet, couldnt stop eating it! And their version of mashed potatoes was perfect delight! Nice crisp And tender taters - flavors And textures reminded me a better hashbrown! And service was accomodating, quick, & wonderful! (Although we were basically the only customers there, aside from 1 other couple)

While there is no accounting for taste, the atmosphere here is stale, uncomfortable, loud, and like being stuck in a big white barn. We found much of the food inedible, my lobster was tough and so salty you would do better at the Red Lobster chain for pennies on the dollar. The four in our party all said the same, they have a high opinion of themselves for heavily garnished cafeteria style food. Our complaints were greeted with hostility, and when we realized how badly we were being robbed, my wife called Volt in Frederick, a delightful historic manor with wonderful cuisine and charming service, which isnt faraway. They were understanding at Volt and made room for us when we explained. My wifes guess is THE BIG WHITE BARN, called the Comus Inn, is a hangout for Dickerson locals who lack, let us say, a certain worldly experience when it comes to dining. We will never return.

The view and environment is GREAT... and thats it! This place is a HUGE disappointment. We went for brunch today. It was not crowded/overly busy. If it had been, I could have overlooked the extremely slow service. We waited 45+ minutes for our meal. Our waitress was mostly missing, and at the conclusion, we had to ask someone else to get our check for us. I ordered the Chesapeake eggs benedict. The food was overly salty and the English muffin was almost impossible to cut and was chewy. The only thing that was delicious was the cranberry apple mimosa. I think this charming restaurant must be operating off an old reputation, because I think at some point it must have been good. Todays experience left me wondering why people would venture out of their way to go here with the metro areas wide array of other wonderful dining establishments.
