The worst hotel I have been to in my life! We had our sons team turkey bowl to go to this past weekend and the staff was very rude to us the whole team. The manager was rude also. When we first arrived the two men at the front desk were amazing very nice and helpful but the rest of the staff later that night were extremely rude to all of the kids and us parents they would give us dirty looks and yell at our kids if they even laughed and had fun. We were at 4 big tables in the back of the lobby behind the bar and our kids were just playing in our area no one else was around us and they kept coming over and basically harassing us and our kids when other teams kids were playing on the elevators and running a muck around the hotel. The cleaning staff even came by us and started to get on to them for no reason our kids felt bad and they werent even doing anything bad. I will never stay at this hotel again. I have worked in customer service and not once have we treated people like this it is their job to make sure our time as guest is too have a relaxed and fun stress free stay and it was far from that!

This looked like it was going to be a nice hotel, but we quickly learned why it was the only available hotel in the area. the night before we got here we spent $50 for a motel room on the Colorado border. The Capital Plaza Hotel in Topeka was about the same quality for $143 per night. The internet access was out, the roof leaked, the front desk could not seem to help with anything. The "business center" was a 4X 4 cubby hole.. I ended up having to turn my phone into a wifi hotspot. Whan I talked to the front desk about the wifi, they gave me a number to call. The people at that # said I need to talk to the hotel staff. I am definitely not impressed. The blankets in the rooms were the same as in the motel in Colorado. The TV remote did not work unless you were 5 feet from the TV. We tried to get a replacement, but no luck. The staff do not seem willing to fix things. No fridge in room. bare bones accommodations and service for the price. This hotel looks like it was once nice and luxurious., but current managements lack of caring is reflected throughout hotel.

Our stay was pleasant until Sunday morning. We were denied complimentary breakfast due to an error from the travel agency. Every single family on our soccer team received the complimentary tickets except for my family because we were not on the list. To us, it is not about the money. It is a matter of how your hotel handled the situation. Your Sunday staffs at the front desk on September 10th, 2017 need to understand the concept of customer service and long term gain. Personally, I dont think they care because they get pay by the hours. It does not matter on the outcome and they still get pay. Management/Economics 101. Your hotel may gain 6 breakfast from my family but you will lose 11 families from our soccer team from the future tournaments. As a team, we will not return to your hotel. Mathematically, $15 x 6 = $90, but 11 x $100 per night for 2 nights x every year. Which number is greater to you. Any first year student in economics class can figure it out. We will not return to your hotel for future tournaments.

The only staff that cares art the restaurant emoloyees. The front desk has no care if there is a problem, and good luck getting anyone to answer if you dial 0 like the book in the room says. The tub did not drain, and the tv remote only worked if you could find the sweet spot on the buttons, and sat up in front of the tv. I ordered a romance package, and was forgotten about, even though they called the room to confirm it. House keeping was banging doors starting at 6 am. The room was at least clean, and did not stink. The restaurant was good, but expensive. If you want to rent a movie from the hotel through their tv service it will cost 20 dollars. We will never stay here again, and it is highly recommended that you spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

They werent ready when we arrived to check in, which was an hour or two after the time stated that one could check in. They gave us a room that was next to the balcony, four floors up, and we could still hear the volume of those gambling, etc., downstairs. They gave all the king size beds away to all the people that had wanted to check in far later than out reservation was made, two months in advance, or earlier. So my wife and I had to sleep in separate beds, there was trash under the bed(s). Customer service for any resolution was basically non-existent. They offered a meal ticket, which I didnt care about. I wanted what was reserved and paid for. Mind you, this was also paid for months in advance. I would rather stay at a motel 6.

I have stayed at the Capitol Plaza Hotel several times over the years and dont remember any complaints, so this time around I wanted the best room for my lady and got the Governors Suite. I am so glad she appreciated the sentiment. Two cabinet doors fell off when we tried to open them. Upon inspection, they had no hinges. Not sure why they would open at all ...or have knobs. The Jacuzzi tub was slow to fill and to drain. I didnt see the value in the $300 room, but sometimes its just fun to splurge. I was surprised the the room didnt come with breakfast like it had when I paid 1/3 the price there before. The General Manager responded to my post-stay survey and offered to deduct from my bill. All good now.

We had Easter brunch at the capital Plaza restaurant and were extremely disappointed. We were there not long after noon. The food was picked over with minimal restocking. Nothing was particularly great either. Needless to say, $50 later for the extra "special" extra cost brunch we will never be back. We spoke with the manager and informed her of the issues. She was very dismissive and refused to even reduce the cost to the normal rate. There was absolutely no difference between the special brunch and the regular Sunday brunch..possibly was worse than usual Sunday brunch. Do not waste your time for the regular brunch, let alone the "special" Easter, Mothers Day etc. brunches. Worst $50 we have ever spent.

Theres a wonderful new invention called Curved Shower Rods. Its an update thats do-able on a budget. It allows guests to shower in these dated, narrow showers without fighting to avoid the bacteria of umpteen other guests who have used the facility before them on the shower curtains. I could list a dozen other obvious updates to this facility, but I wont. Cleanliness is good. I hear the food is good, but expensive so I did not partake. Is there any way to actually make the wi-fi signal reach the rooms? Its really only viable in the lobby area. This hotel is for those who HAVE to stay here due to a conference or event, but amenities are very limited.
