******UPDATE - 6/15/16 Yep, this company and management still sucks. No calls to THIS DAY. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.****** ----- I had one of the worst experiences of my life here. My wife and I stopped by and it was our first time going to this establishment. We came in and originally planned on bowling, but after checking with the front desk and looking over seeing it wasnt very busy, we opted to play some arcade games and we signed up for the obstacle course that is above the gaming area. We were in main event for about 30 minutes playing games and checking out the space. It came close to time for us to get in line for the obstacle course and my wife asked me to take her coat and purse out to the car as they dont have lockers for you to put personal items into. (Not good business acumen on their part.) After I leave and am walking toward my car, three employees (two of which are security) run up on me asking me is this my purse. I told them no its my wifes and Im putting it in my car and going back in to do the obstacle course with her. The manager was very indignant saying lets go back in and verify that. Immediately I realize they think I stole MY WIFES purse. I find it funny that I can be in the building for 30 minutes, play video games WITH my wife who was CARRYING said purse the WHOLE TIME, yet when I go outside, all of a sudden Im accused of being a thief! Earlier I mentioned going to the customer service desk asking about bowling, well at that time, one of the security guards was standing there and looked right at both of us. One of the security guards that ran up on me in the parking lot was the SAME one that looked at me and my wife when we walked in! So Im walking back in with the three of them behind me and I am PISSED! How dare you accuse me of stealing? How dare you treat me like you got me dead to rights when youre in the wrong? I told them while I was walking back in that, "youve just lost a customer." So I walk up to my wife who is WAITING TO BEGIN THE OBSTACLE COURSE, which by the way never started because Main Event didnt designate an employee to run the course in the first place and I tell her, "They think I stole your purse." She tells them that it is her purse and she was equally upset that they would treat me like that, especially as Ive been in the building for 30 minutes. We go to have a refund processed and I noticed the two security guards milling around even AFTER they verified the purse wasnt stolen. There was no apology given by the security guards for their treatment of me. My wife asked me what I was looking at and I told her that they are still standing there watching us like Im going to hit the manager or something. She walks over to the security guard and asked him why he was watching us. He lied and said he was only standing there watching his colleague. Yet, the ENTIRE time we were in the arcade, there were no security guards walking around. Now, all of a sudden when were getting our refund and getting ready to leave, they are having a conversation? PLEASE. She told him that there is no reason to still be following us and watching us because it has been proven that the purse was NOT stolen. There was no hostile action on my part or my wifes part. So why are you still watching us? He again tried to double down on the lie, but we shut that down. What I thought was even more infuriating about the security guards was this.... When I brought the purse back to my wife, they never asked to see her ID to verify it was her purse! How are you going to accuse me of stealing a womans purse and when I bring it back to the woman, NOT VERIFY it is THAT womans purse?! REAL GOOD security force they have here right? You know what this tells me? They KNEW it was her purse. They KNEW I didnt steal it! Why else would they not verify ownership??? WE WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE and those security guards and the manager need to be fired for their horrible behavior. To hell with main event entertainment. If I could give zero stars I would.

We just had our child’s birthday party at the Warrenville location and while the party was very entertaining for the children the billing experience was like buying a used car from a third party dealer… The original contract my wife booked with Ashley was for 25 children with one hour of bowling, once game of laser tag, private birthday room, souvenir bowling, hot dog with chips and a 5 dollar funcard per guest all projected out at 586.60 minus the 199.50 deposit the remain balance would be 387.10. Now fast forward to the day of the event we had two add on kids (at about 15 bucks a child according to the Manager Kenneth) our total bill was just over 700 dollars. The first manager that tried to explain the difference was quickly frustrated and handed us off to the Games Manager Kenneth who too showed frustration in his inability to simplify the bill. The Manager Kenneth keep referencing back to our “generous tip of 20 percent” for the reason for the huge jump in price when I started to question him on exactly what the 150.64 dollar service charge on the bill was for. He explained it was a charge that went to the different areas in the facility for the service provide so I said that is basically a tip pool. He said not really a tip but more of a service charge (I had also asked here server’s bout this and was told it was not really a tip). Now if you do the math the service charge that the Manager Kenneth insisted was not a tip came out to be 21 percent (on top of our 20 percent tip). Manager Kenneth said he had been in the service industry his whole life so I imagine he knew exactly what the “service charge” was and when I called him out on it was dancing around my questioning this as a tip knowing we gave 41 %. Main Event, because of your confusing billing policies and added tip practices you have lost my business (we have three children) and I will do my best to make sure no other parents I know get ripped off by your facility. So parents beware! While this place is fun for the children watch out for the questionable billing … Chasers and other Naperville party facilities are much better on the price.

What I wrote in an email to them... There were a couple things that just made me wonder what your employees were thinking... 1. As I waited to see if any bowling lanes were open, 3 employees were standing there staring into space while a line was waiting for help. Once I reached the lady to ask if there were any lanes available, she said not for the next three and a half hours. Thats fine. Its Saturday evening and I didnt think Id be successful. So I then asked if I could make a reservation for tomorrow. She said I had to do that online. This is exactly what I do not understand. Why would I have to make a reservation, most likely using the phone in my hand, while standing at the customer service counter in the place of business where Id like to bowl. Obsurd. Not to mention when I go online to make a reservation, it doesnt simply just tell me available slots for a certain day, but makes me take a stab in the dark at all hours of the business day. Its one of the dumbest websites I have ever been on. 2. I then head back to get my ten year old on a ropes course. I ask the boy at the counter if there are any slot available. He mentioned one about ten minutes from what was the current time. Great. Ill buy the slot. I was then told it could be cheaper if I went back to the front to get the unlimited wristband. I told him I didnt have time and Id rather just buy the $9 slot. I was again told that it would still be cheaper to go back to the front and buy the wristband. I just stood there, dumbfounded, that he just would not charge me the $9 and let me move on. Nope. It just infuriates me that I tried to tell him Ill basically pay more for less time and turns on the ropes course and was basically turned away. I said forget it and walked out. So zero dollars made on me. I was also going to buy a fun card for the four year while the ten year did the ropes course. The whole experience was a joke and entirely frustrating. Both of my boys still couldnt understand why the guy turned me away twice when I was asking to buy a band and clearly didnt care if I was paying more for the service.
