Lynfred winery, a wine gem hidden around beer bars and strip malls youd never expect to find deep in suburbia. They have select wines for tasting every month and a full (house wine) bar available. The bar and shop have a cabin feel with wood paneling everywhere and softer light that gives a rather cozy feeling. The shop is smaller but works for its purpose with snack sausages, cheeses, crafts, wine novelty items and of course wine for sale. The bar is clean and small but just like the shop suits its purpose well. The bartenders were very friendly and even arriving after tasting hours still poured a glass for my wife and I. They appear to have a glass maximum per a posting by the door to only allow 2 glasses of wine so as to not allow patrons to leave drunk. Which is good and responsible in my eyes. The wine is strong and delicious, so 2 glasses goes down quite nicely. The distillery area is very clean a loaded with stainless stills and piping. I was told they also do tours of the distillery floor, which I would be very interested in, and attached to the distillery is the banquet room. I didnt not see this room as there was a wedding just finishing up when we arrived. The building itself is also quite nice. The drive around the building is brick and the 2 story building had nice and well kept landscaping. The parking lot however was rather small. There were a few spots next to the shop but in the rear is the main parking with about a dozen or so spots. But the winery is located next to a shopping strip and train crossing with ample parking. We purchased 2 wines from here and after they are gone we will definitely be returning.

Tucked away on what otherwise looks like an ordinary busy street, lies a winery hidden in plain sight. You drive up its drive way and feel instantly transported to a rustic classic village house seemingly plucked from a vineyard. Or at least thats how it seems to me. Inside as well as out, theres plenty of seating to enjoy good company with a glass of wine. Speaking of which there are plenty to choose from. From sweeter wines to pallets that prefer dryer or full bodied wines. Pricing for tastings is a tad more than Ive spent but its balanced by what I perceive is a heavier pour. Bottles are better priced and to me seem affordable and can be inexpensive the more bottles you buy. Membership is offered but not required and the staff all seem rather knowledgeable of their entire selection. The ambiance and atmosphere is welcoming, relaxing and encourages a calmer more intimate social atmosphere compared to a bars louder public social environment. All in all, they have an awesome selection of sweet wines balanced with traditional blends. A good place to spend the day with fellow wine lovers or first timers. There is a bed and breakfast but I did not go any further than finding out that there was one.

Really fun place to visit to do some tastings and buy some gifts for like-minded wine friends. They have tours available sometimes - so call ahead to find out when they can offer you one. Its fun to sip wine and see the bottle filler machine, and see how they customize wine for weddings. They have a B&B attached but I have never been there, just heard about it. Every fall they hold an Oktoberfest celebration that is really fun. I understand that some wines are featured at super fancy restaurants in Downtown Chicago (rumor has it they featured a wine at Charlie Trotters old place on Armitage, about ten years back). Grapes are grown off-site and shipped in for wine. I saw they just got a sign on the Elgin OHare Expy, too! They featured fresh baked bread from a local bakery when I last visited - buy a loaf to take home & enjoy with your wine and cheese.

The staff at Lynfred is always very welcoming, friendly, informative and helpful. The winery has recently added a new tasting area that is very nice and able to serve more people at once. However, we noticed that instead of wandering around the winery as most people usually do, they now seem to stay in one place and socialize more with other patrons. The establishment also has a Founders room that offers tastings of some of their winemakers special wines. We brought friends from California to to this room to sample some of these fine wines. They were very impressed. Lynfred knows how to make wines! They also have bed and breakfast suites upstairs that are decorated in various European styles as well as an American suite. We stayed in one of the suites for our anniversary a few years ago and it surpassed my expectations.

Winfred is a great place to go tasting wine they have so many different varieties and flavors. They also have different breads that they make there and a few other kinds of products. Theyve recently in large their tasting area at the Roselle location, so its much nicer now and more roomy for lots of people to go. And then they have the Founders room upstairs. But if you have any questions about wine or you just starting out tasting let them know and theyll guide you along the way theyre great people.

It was my Fiancé and Is first time having the pleasure of going to Lynfred winery. We went on Sunday afternoon and made it in time for the quick but informative and nice winery tour. We met friends there to do the tour and some wine tastings. We got the premium wine tasting for $14 which got us 7 wine tastings and 1 premium tasting. We were extremely impressed and pleased with our visit! We will definitely be going back again, perhaps even for the VIP experience!

My wife and I attended the Oktoberfest celebration at Lynfred winery over the weekend. There is a pig roast and other German inspired food to enjoy along with German music, grape stomping/spitting, costumes, etc. There were a lot of people at the event but the cost for a bottle of wine was fairly reasonable and it was great to share among friends. The winery is also great for tastings outside of special events and the wine is pretty good!

I really enjoyed this wine tasting, you are able to walk around the store while you drink each sample. You can take your time and enjoy each glass for as long as you like, talk with friends, relax and read, etc. Instead of feeling like you are rushing through the tasting they give you a card with the wine you are sampling that has a little info each glass you are about to try, and they simple mark of the card the wine you try.

Many wines are interesting and they are good quality. However, a 2btl membership includes a complimentary wine tasting but the winery doesnt fulfill this term. Ive received the welcome letter but no tasting certificate. I show proof of membership to pickup my paid-for bottles so they know Im a member but still dont honor the terms. So poorly operated. Ill stick to Coopers Hawk. They value their wine club members.

Always a pleasure at Lynfred and their satellite tasting rooms (Wheaton and Naperville). The staff is friendly and approachable, and the view of the winery in action is quite a sight! In terms of wine selection, Lynfred offers a variety of experiences from traditional California Cabernet Sauvignon and old world Sangiovese to some more new styles such as the "orange" white wines that are increasingly popular.
