I am only giving this place a one star because the food was decent. We were there on a Friday afternoon and brought a large group (15) people. We had reservations for over a month, but the wait staff said they were not expecting any groups. The waitress was surely in her approach to our group, clearly not happy we were there. They have a small menu with great choices for lunch, however the waitress did not know the menu and repeatedly mentioned this was a "new menu". One of the people in our group asked about the item "Soup De Jour" the waitress said "oh that means we dont have soup". She got only half of the orders correct and many had to be sent back because she wrote down the wrong thing. One person ordered the Artichoke Flatbread and the waitress brought out Spinich Artichoke Dip, when she was told that was not correct the waitress responded "What is the difference?". Absolutely laughable! We spoke to the management and while discussing our issues, we mentioned that we had an event to attend and needed to get our bills as quickly as possible. The manager stated that she would do some education of her employee, but in the future we should let them know when we make a reservation that we are on a time crunch. We tried to explain that we were only short of time, because we had to send half of the meals back! The whole thing was a disaster and it is too bad, we were celebrating a very important event. The venue is beautiful and it was set up for a wedding, this would be a gorgeous place for a wedding, but I would never consider this location, as the service is the WORST.

THE REVIEW LEFT BY DREINKING, IS OBVIOUSLY AN EMPLOYEE OR OWNER. ITS CLEARLY A REBUTTAL TO MY REVIEW. OR EVEN ALMOST AN ADVERTISEMENT!! WOULD YOU REALLY WANT TO ATTEND A PLACE THAT IS ATTEMPTING TO BE DECEITFUL ON A ONLINE REVIEW?!?! REAL REVIEW: The place is nice. yay. big deal. - Food set up. Terrible. It was a wedding party of over 100 people, and they had it set up as if it was a party of 40. Constantly having to restock the food table. It was very unprofessional and inconsistent. Also the food selection was horrible! To follow, food tasted as if we were eatting in a middle school cafeteria. Lets forget the bad food and drink the night away and have a good time. Yay. We have a great time. We then leave our vehicles at the winery and take a shuttle to the hotel. Next morning we come back to the winery about 10am. THEY HAD LOCKED THEIR GATES. LOCKING OUR VEHICLE IN THE WINERY!! Why lock your gates knowing several vehicles are still at the location! Later on in the day the owners finally arrive to open up the gate. they then proceeded to act very hooiser and low class because I questioned them on why would they lock their gate. I explained to the owner I did NOT want to drive last night after drinking and thats why i left my vehicle there. She then literally says "I should of drove". At this point im extremly confused on the sort of folks im dealing with her. Food service and quality was about a D-. They will lock your vehicle in their facility without any sort of notification. And is also a fan of drunk drivers. Dont attend this place.

My fiancé of only 5 days and I knew we didnt want a drawn out engagement and have to worry about all the typical small worries of a traditional year of wedding planning. We jokingly discussed with family having a wedding on New Years Day (literally 10 days away). We wondered if it was possible. Ready to be disappointed, a call to Judy at Villa Marie Winery that night asking if such a crazy idea would even be entertained. She said she was as excited as us and said "lets do it"! The next day we met, I invited close to 300 family and friends via phone and text. We had a head count by Friday night. Judy, her right hand and wedding coordinator, Lydia, and her staff went above and beyond to make our day AMAZING. I gave them very few direction and just said to make it beautiful and that they did. The food was INCREDIBLE. Our family and friends are still talking about the melt in your mouth brisket. The rest of the food was delicious and plentiful. The room was beautifully decorated and they have the chair covers/table cloths, drapery and such so I didnt need to worry about renting from rental shops. We are so grateful for the kindness and hard work by everyone at Villa Marie to start our lives as husband and wife, not focused on the wedding (they did that), but on what truly matters. *Photo credit: KW Photography (Kourtney Weaver)

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at the Villa Marie Winery recently and everything was great. The ceremony was outside around 5 oclock with a cocktail happy hour on the patio and the reception immediately after. With a little pre-planning and open discussion with the winery manager, we were able to accommodate our 200 guests throughout all 3 portions of night seamlessly. We brought in an outside Cater (Conways Catering) so I cannot comment on the food. However, the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend two bar tenders during the reception if you have as many people as I did because my guest had to wait longer than I would have wanted. Several of the issues in the negative post did not apply to my event because we didnt use the food but locking the gates to the building truly seems like a minor issue. Pros: Beautiful facility, manager that works with you as a client, good staff, clean, accommodating, allows an outside cater Cons: Like many wineries, the building is open to the public. Be sure to address any concerns you have with this ahead of time (our concerns were addressed but wanted to note because issues can arise), alcohol is more expensive them most places I looked at renting (although good beer selection to make up for it),

I was supposed to have my wedding at Villa Marie on July 26th, however, they breached their contract by not providing me with a tasting 90 days before my event. Also, not only would they not give me a tasting, they wouldnt even call me!! I spent 3 weeks trying to get a hold of anyone who could help me, and after 10 phone calls and being repeatedly told that I would, "be called back by the end of the day," and then never receiving a call back, I went up to Villa and asked for my money back. They did give me my deposit back, but then I had to find a wedding venue for 200 people two months before my wedding! They werent helpful at all through the whole process and were extremely childish by sending a nasty letter with the deposit in the mail. I wish I could tell you how the food tasted, but, since I never got to try any, I cant. I will never visit Villa Marie again. Luckily, Sunset Hills Country Club was open that day!!

Ive never been to an event using the banquet part of this venue, so I cant comment on that. I have gone here for wine several times and the wine is decent for IL wine. However, the food is just terrible. I ordered a $15 cheese pizza, and they brought it out on a normal size round pizza tray, but the flatbread only covered a 1/3 of the tray. Basically, I paid $15 for what would be comparable to 3 normal slices of pizza. We also ordered spinach artichoke dip, and it was the worst Ive ever had. It was spicy. It tasted more like queso than spinach dip. If you are going here to enjoy nice food, go somewhere else. If you are going here to drink some wine outside and hang out, then rock on, its a nice venue.
