Living in Chicago it is extremely hard to improve your golf game. If you want to improve your game I HIGHLY recommend working with Geoff Lound. I have lived here for 6 years and have had a hard time putting a solid improvement plan in place. I have tried everything from pounding golf balls at the range by myself, sent video of my swing into online lesson reviews, gotten new clubs, watched youtube videos but the absolute best thing I have ever done for my golf game is work with Geoff Lound. Working with Geoff not only helps me understand the golf swing better, but it helps my game the very next time I go out and play. Geoff has a way of explaining the golf swing that doesnt confuse me, but rather he makes things seem simple and fun. I have worked with a few instructors and Geoff has the ability to relate to me in a way that lets me make improvements right away. Past instructors have confused me and made so many drastic changes in an hour that I feel like I have gone back to square one and need to go back to them every week in order to really make progress. Last time I took a lesson with Geoff I told him that I was having trouble with my woods off the tee. I left Glencoe with a go to shot off the tee that I feel incredibly comfortable executing on the course. He didnt over haul my swing, but rather helped me understand what was causing my problem and how to fix it. This type of instruction is not something I have found yet in Chicago and I will be going back to Geoff a few times a year just to make sure I continue to make the gains I have made so far working with Geoff.

I play golf all along the northshore, but yet I rarely play here. Went over to walk 9 holes today at 5:30 am. The walking rate is $27 which is fairly expensive anyways but I wanted to get in some golf before I had to catch a flight later in the morning. So I go in to pay and ask the guy can I play 9 holes....... 1) I ask him can I go off the back.....nope greens werent cut yet........I understood that. 2) Okay, fronts fine........ok......but we dont let people off until 6 and there are two twosomes ahead of you.....you can go after them........I guess not a big deal I can ask to join them but ideally needed to get off quickly to catch my flight. 3) What is the rate.$31 he said. I said the 9 hole rate is $27 on website. He says he cant give me that as I have to use the early bird rate of $31 for 18. I go that doesnt make sense I want to play 9. He insists that there is no 9 hole rate before 7:30 am. 4) Ok that doesnt sit right with me.....So I decided ill just hit balls............He tellls me I cant the range(which you cant hit woods at) doesnt open to 7am. So for an avid golfer, who lives in Glencoe, and likes to play early.............I CANT EVEN PLAY IN MY OWN CITY. I am embarrassed as a resident that our course is so unfriendly, expensive and hard to play. It is a fun track to play but not worth the price or attitude. Plenty of places around here who want me to play and are accommodating. Glencoe Golf Club is not one of them.

I rarely write reviews, however the experience I have had with Geoff Lound as my golf instructor has been world changing, and warrants a few words. I first visited Geoff Lound last year for the first of three lessons which were gifted to me by my thoughtful wife. What struck me first is Geoffs ability to put you at ease and make sure you feel comfortable, as he is keenly aware that a relaxed and comfortable student will not only perform better, but be able to apply his instruction with greater accuracy. His bedside manner is excellent and I quickly was drawn in by his professional insight and technique. Over the course of five lessons I took with Geoff, I found that there was no overlap in what I was learning, but if I desired, we could always refresh on a previous lesson. This was great as I could dictate the speed by which we progressed through the lessons. Geoff was always able to pick right up where we left off previously without missing a beat on which details of my game we were working on. Through working with Geoff, I have shaved over ten strokes off of my game and now enjoy playing exponentially more than I did before. I periodically visit Geoff to recalibrate and it always proves to be very beneficial. I have also turned on a few of my golfing buddies to Geoff and they all report similar experiences. Bottom line, if you need a golf instructor in the Chicagoland area, Geoff Lound in your man...

I love this course. The crew keeps it in excellent condition; fairways and greens are beautiful; rough can be punishing. The staff is friendly and helpful always. Geoff Lound is a great addition to the teaching staff. I took lessons from him down on Wabash, where he helped solidify my takeaway move. I just finished a spring tuneup at Glencoe. He has a very sharp eye for the subtle details that can make a solid swing or lead one awry. He reinforced good teaching that I had received from other sources over the years and honed in on a way to cure my miss: a hook that wont listen to me. He is patient but very efficient in his teaching strategies. At my last session we were able to cover sand, pitches, irons and the driver, all in an hour. Although those four swings have important differences, Geoff was able to emphasize the fundamental similarities, especially left leg and hip action, so that I have been able to build a more consistent downswing and finish than my old habitual. I credit him with helping me to 75 at the end of last season. Par is the goal this year. I recommend Geoff without reservation.

I started taking lessons from Geoff Lound about 3 months ago. I was very hesitant about taking lessons as I have been able to get my handicap down to a low single digit by myself. My father was driving from Michigan every other weekend to take lessons with Geoff and his improvements were noticeable as soon as he stood over the ball. So with a lot of hesitation, I took a lesson. Im glad I did because Geoff has been a great complement to my game! Besides being very friendly and funny, he was able to diagnose the problem from the beginning rather than just trying to fix the end result. As a result, Ive never felt more in control of my swing and ultimately the ball as well. I have recommended Geoff to all of my friends and anyone I talk golf with. I also wanted to mention that Glencoe is a very fun course. I played it for the first time last weekend and it was very fun. While not long, it can have challenging greens with difficult pin locations. The holes have a lot of variety and fairway bunkers that make it very interesting to play. I will definitely return to this course.

Geoff Lound is by far the best golf instructor I have ever worked with. If you want to improve your game, significantly, this is the guy for you. I was a 15 handicap, trending all the way up to 19. Before I got over 20, in desperation I decided to take lessons, even though they had never worked for me in the past. I was extremely lucky to be hooked up with Geoff through a friend from work. Almost immediately I realized he was unlike other instructors in that he made the steps simple and understandable. My first series of lessons with him were indoors, so it was hard to see whether they would be as helpful as it appeared. but as soon as the weather got nice and I was able to play outdoors the results were instantaneous. I am now down from my high of 19 to a 12, trending 11. I also feel that every time I tee it up I am a threat to break 80 (when in the past Id be happy in the 90s). I would highly recommend Geoff for anyone, at any level, who wants to improve their game quickly. And he is also a very nice guy to work with, which definitely helps all the more.
