I just started with the aquarium hobby. I had a lot of questions about water levels, fish and equipment. I went to The Aviarium to buy a heater and any other gear they would recommend, thinking that, since they are a smaller shop, they would be more personal and knowledgeable.. but I was wrong. When I went, there were three people working there. Nobody seem to care that I walked in.. After a while, since nobody asked me anything, I had to address one of the employee and asked him if he worked there... I explained him with all my excitement about my new tank, and that I had some questions.. They guy was definitely not willing to help.. I guess he was busy with something else.. he avoid all my questions, and gave me the shortest yes/no answers. I understand that they guy might be busy.. but I am a potential great customer.. dont you want new customers? Specially after I told you that I just got into this hobby?? He showed me the heaters, I bought one and gave me the good byes.... I left with more questions that I originally had... The Aviarium customer attention is very poor.. at least that was my experience.. Im not coming back. I have much more out of the guys from petsmart, way more approachable and nice.

I have been here a few times to get supplies for my bird, and the experience every time has been pretty negative. First off the staff is extremely unapproachable. There is usually no one in the store so its extremely awkward when you walk in and they just stare at you as you walk around alone. They are selectively rude to customers as well. The last time I went they were talking up a storm and giving wonderful service to the customer in front of me, and then wouldnt even give me eye contact as I checked out. The worst part about the store is the deplorable and disgusting condition of the birds they keep there. Every bird was screaming and half bald from stress plucking. I wouldnt be surprised if they all had mites as well. The room was gross, dark, and depressing. The cages were also way too small and clearly had not been clean in who knows how long. I would highly suggest not going here to purchase a bird.

I dont know what was going on, but this store is something else. When I came in the employees sitting at the counter dont even pay attention, busy on their phones. The tanks are all separate systems, which is good to quarantine fish, However I counted 7 tanks where all the fish were covered in ich(not just one or two spots), and there was no initiative taken to treat them or not sell them! And ick is easy to spot, who knows what other disease they have! Another thing was The tanks were very dirty with algae and fish waste, and water levels were down, so very lackluster maintenance. Everything was way overpriced (almost double as much as on Amazon). Im all for supporting local, but this is ridiculous! Maybe the bird side is better? I definitely will not be coming back anytime soon!

This is a local shop with all of its warts. It doesnt have flashy ads or people in uniforms. It has people who raise birds and fish. People who can answer any and all questions, care about your pets and can really help you. I have been going about 10 years. I have a 30 year old Nanday conure who is VERY picky about everything. He likes one particular perch and one particular food and God help me if I come home with the wrong treats. This store is great if you have a bird or fish and you need stuff for them. I always try to shop local. These are good people and I go out of my way to give them my business. Their prices are in line with the big retailers and my son LOVES looking at all the spoiled rotten birds.

The reviews had me a bit worried when we went to the store but we decided to check it out anyway. I am glad we did! There were several customers there before us so it was a few minutes before we got help. It gave us a chance to look around the store and take in what they had to offer. Once the other customers were helped, Mick came and spent at least an hour answering our questions about converting our tank to saltwater. He gave us his undivided attention and helped us with our initial purchase of equipment (Thanks Mick!). We came back the next day to pick up a couple more items and got similar service. They do have a good selection of fish, coral, and inverts. Birds too!

I like the fish they sell, but everything is overpriced. They definitely take advantage of the fact that no one near them sells an aquarium above 75 gallons, because the prices are outrageous. Dont get me wrong, the owner knows a lot about all his fish. The male that runs the business is not the friendliest though, ask him a question about the fish in the tank, hell tell you everything from the temperament to the size it gets, and then the price. No personal stuff though, he doesnt really care much for it. I only go here when I want to look for really obscure fish, but if youre gonna buy anything that bigger than your finger, be ready to spend > $20.

I didnt talk to any of the staff. I just walked in, excited to see what a store specialized in birds looked like. I was horribly disappointed. Although they do have a good selection of exotic birds, they dont seem happy nor healthy. Their food bowls had a majority of seeds which are really fatty (especially sunflower seeds and there were a lot of those), their tail feathers were broken which is a sign that the cage could be too small, each cage had only one worn out toy, and the lighting is just depressing. I cant believe Im saying this, but the petco nearby does better. Its such a shame to see such beautiful birds be put in such terrible conditions.

I bought my first budgie here 35 years ago and then when I caught the bug for fish, bought my first tank here, and subsequent setups as well. Sure, you can buy stuff cheaper online--but knowledge is not free, its hard-won, so please do them the courtesy of buying what they recommend--from them. These kind people earn their keep. They are knowledgeable and helpful and like someone else said, are willing to order hard-to-find items. Selection of fish is good, and they helped me set up a very healthy planted tank with the best "clean-up crew" ever. My girls are the ones that now keep fish and birds, so we will be patrons for many years to come.

Currently on a wild goose chase to find a good LFS in the Gwinnett area. Tried this place since it seemed to have some good reviews. The prices are the flat out WORST I have ever seen. For instance, the Seachem line, which you can find in most stores in Georgia, were marked up by anywhere from 50-100% of the average retail price. The API Tap Water Filter was going for close to 2.5 times its normal retail price, $100!!! I honestly didnt know whether to life or cry, Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, they obviously arent interested in doing business with informed customers.
