A gem of a park - instantly our favorite "go-to" public place for being outdoors in TLH. Normally, I try to include something that a locale/establishment could do better - but I just cant think of one such suggestion here. The outer perimeter is precisely one mile. this is great for those coming for the exercise. there are two other recommended circuits as well, with shorter total distances. From the Smokey Hollow Commemorative area at the northernmost point, to the Boca Chuba pond (and fountain) at the southernmost point - and from the South Monroe gate at the westernmost point to the Korean war memorial at the eastern/middle edge, Cascades park has an abundance of options to offer. The bandshell is spectacular, and offers an acoustic experience that is rich as well as subtle to the seated audience as well as those behind on the hillock. There are 13 "history monuments" along Meridian street between E. Gaines and E. St. Augustine that lay out the timeline of Tallahassees development, from prehistoric times to the near present. Truly, there is too much within this park to be included in a Yelp review, so in the interest of brevity, Ill continue in soundbites: The meridian line, the "point-zero" coordinate for the states township & range system, "Discovery", Centennial field, etc... The Korean War memorial is exceptional - and predates Cascades park itself. It has been here for years but the Cascades park will surely draw increased attention to this thoughtful commemoration to a sometimes forgotten war. This is one of the most impressive war memorials I have ever seen, and certainly is the most impressive war memorial in TLH. In short, we are very happy with our recent addition to TLHs parks, and look forward to spending plenty of time here.

This park is a great example of how we can incorporate environmental friendly areas that are also fun for all. When first coming to this park I notice the modern look and cleanness. The first thing I laid eyes on was the amphitheater, which was built on a hill with a large stage under a white cover at the front; though it seems to not seat many it is a great sight. There is a playground area near the amphitheater which things that you would not expect at a normal play area. There is a slide, water table contraption, a sand box, and some wooden posts that kids were climbing on. The water table caught my attention because it was like a stair case of platforms that kids could manipulate and eventually lead the water to the flowers on the ground; kids were having fun while watering the plants. There were many sidewalks that made up many trails throughout the park. I went on a sidewalk route which took me by signs that told me all about the history of Tallahassee. I liked how educational this park was and how it was not just about fun but rather about showcasing the beautiful things in Tallahassee as well as the past of the city. I also saw a water pad for kids to play on, but at certain times the water pad turns into a fountain show. The fountain show was a cool addition to the park and I feel like it was really thought out. The park is an area that was made to flood if there is a huge rain storm. The park is basically a giant holding pond that they made into a beautiful park. Because of the many things to do here and the beauty of it I will be going back to this park.

If I were to sum this park up in two words, they would be elegant and exciting! The park is remarkably clean and welcoming. There are many help points with maps, information, and fun health facts. The park offers MANY amenities, such as an amphitheater, playgrounds, paved trails, storm-water ponds, free WiFi, a water spout park, a cafe, and a restaurant. There are even parts of the park that have some nice Floridian flora, and a small field for frisbee or kickball. This park is nearly perfect. I just wish it had more of an emphasis on nature. It is overly done in my opinion. Almost to the point where it has an is dystopian feel. Entering the park from FAMU way, you cross over a bridge into the park. There are signs warning of surveillance in the park at all times, and an electronic board that has data on how many bikers and walkers have been in the park that day, and to date. Blue lights on the bridge giving an eerie vibe doesnt help with the oddness of this feeling. Maybe this is just me, but after showing a few people this entrance, they have me similar comments. Almost kind of like the park shown in back to the future when Marty McFly rode on the hoverboard. But I guess that wouldnt be a terrible reputation to have, would it?

Beautiful! My husband and I went there for a stroll this evening and we were just passing through the city on our way from SW Florida to California. It looks as if it is continuing to be developed--a new restaurant in an old restored building seems to be on the site, or right next to it--and when we were there this evening there was a group of dancers using the stage to work out a dance routine and other people were on the grassy area kicking around a soccer ball and tossing a Frisbee. Several couples were strolling around or using the swinging benches enjoying a balmy summer evening. The bathing fountain, which must have just shut down, looked as if it might have had many children splashing and enjoying it earlier in the day, and the playground on the other side of the river that runs through this park, had plenty of sand and climbing structures for little ones. We hope to come back through Tallahassee in the near future and are hopeful that this park continues to enhance the lives of the people that live there.

Fantastic park in the heart of Tallahassee. Lots to do even though it isnt an "active park." More than 2 miles of paved trails, beautiful landscaping, an amphitheater and coming soon The Edison Restaurant. Great for a break from downtown and definitely worth a visit if youre nearby. Update May 2015: The Edison has opened offering food options in the park along with Catalina Cafe in the basement for your morning stroll. The pedestrian bridge is almost complete and will connect Cascades park all the way to St. Marks! The Park keeps getting better and better.

There are so many awesome dogs that people bring to this park! People do a really great job of cleaning up after their pets here. I have not encountered any pet mess and I go 3 or 4x a week. The staff does a fantastic job maintaining the grounds. Please if you visit this park dont litter :( Lets keep this place nice. Theres tons of trash receptacles. It really helps when we all clean up after ourselves, and sometimes pick up anything we may see lying around. Lets continue to keep this park a great place, it takes help from the community.
