My family and I attended the 2012 Nutcracker Ballet matinee performance. I have previously been to the Nutcraker at the Marina Civic Center and elsewhere and have thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I found this Nutcracker to be a huge let down. This was my familys first attendance at the Nutcracker. I was so excited to share the Nutcracker experience with them but we were all thoroughly disappointed. Although the matinee tickets cost $25.00 each, this ballet appeared to be operated on a very low budget. Many of the costumes were dingy looking, the number of dancers was very minimal, and the props, including a bed with a hole in the blanket and dirty box springs and mattress, appeared old. Although the second act was better than the first, I waited in high anticipation for the dance of the sugar plum fairies and it never happened. The performance was so poorly done that we were unable to follow the story line. The Civic Center was almost empty for this performance and now I know why. Apparently others, who may have attended the Nutcracker in the last few years, already knew this ballet was not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time. I know I will never again attend the Nutcracker at the Civic Center.

Ive been to the Marina Civic Center many times and my experiences have always been good except last night. I was there to see The Newsboys (great show) and it was so hot in there it was making me ill. Im usually always cold and always carry a jacket but last night I not only didnt use my jacket but I had to remove the shirt I was wearing over my tank top. Even with that it was still extremely uncomfortable. I heard other people complaining in the ladies room. The place appeared to be sold out so they had to know with that many people they needed to lower the air conditioner. Dont know why they didnt, my friend complained and Im sure many others did too. I hope they will be more aware in the future.

Little cultural gem of the panhandle. Variety of touring shows and concerts are typically scheduled. Ok so accessible seating is basically anything on the first floor. Accessible parking is all within 100-300 ft of the entrance. Front door drop is a nice option.

The Civic Center and Bay Arts Alliance works hard to provide the best shows they can. They are professional, friendly, and knowledgable. Any touring show coming through tends to get everything they ask for, and therefore tends to be as good as it can be.

We just spent an entire week in the civic center for a national dance convention. The building was small and inadequate for the intended purpose. Huge stage but backstage was very very small & the loading dock did not suit the need for multiple props.

We need a 4.5 star rating to reflect how much we need this facility... but how it needs just a little more work to be the 5 star it wants to be.

This is a wonderful place to experience any of the performing arts. The ticket prices are very reasonable and the entertainment is top notch!
