We were out of town vacationing/visiting family and decided to hit up the local zoo as it was advertised well and the zip lining looked awesome. Well we were pleased that they coordinate with our hometown zoo membership so we got a discount for our entrance fees. However, my kids were underwhelmed. And as soon as we walked in a guy instructed us to the no coolers/outside drinks sign. We had brought our daughters (age 2 and 5) juice cups in a small lunch bag, but apparently thats a cooler. What kind of place wont let you bring in your own drinks?? Our local zoo allows all kind of stuff so we never expected not to be able to bring in something small. I assumed a cooler was like a legit big cooler not a lunch box. We did see other patrons with extremely large backpacks and bags but I suspect those arent searched because we saw all kinds of drinks being pulled out. So just make sure it doesnt look like a cooler and I guess its ok? despite being annoyed from the get-go we were excited for the petting zoo area however there was multiple staff in there and every time the children went to touch animal they would say "oh no dont touch just look." and when my husband went to pet a Goat they even told him "dont pet the goat that way..." It was an interesting experience. We didnt see anything on the website about the water feature area which looked really fun for the kids (I have not revisited the site to see if it was advertised or not, Im sure it is) We also never made it to the zip lines as my husband was unhappy with the original experience and didnt want to spend any more money. There was some original stuff to see but I guess we were expecting something similar to our local zoo here in Kansas and felt, again, a little underwhelmed.

Very nice Zoo! Its easy to walk through, you dont have to worry about a map or missing anything its practically self-guiding. Nice atmosphere as the paths are boarded and through canopies of trees and plants, it feels like you are up close in the animals habitat not just a wide open space staring at animals in cages. The staff was very nice and the snack/lunch area was very reasonably priced IMO. My husband got a grilled chicken sandwich and I got a turkey cheese melt w/ chips pickles ect. and it was $11 and actually tasted good.lol They have some really cool features that we didnt get to do because our daughter is only 9 months---the tree-top trek and zipline, a kayaking tour, and a little water park for toddlers. I cant imagine how people think this isnt worth the money when you factor in caring for the animals, the property, the employees who help run it, and everything else that goes into running a business. Definitely fun for the whole family and would love to go back if we are ever in the area again! Sidenote--the giraffes are awesome :)

Ive gone to Brevard Zoo since I was five. I just went today with my grandmother and we both had a wonderful time looking at all the animals and talking to staff. Now that Im moving to Buffalo for college, I have started to really appreciate how amazing this zoo is. It isnt too big, so you can go for just a few hours and not get exhausted- but has enough funding and animals to give a high quality experience to visitors. Theres no brick or mortar to be found like in many older zoos (excluding the named bricks in the entrance, which are adorable), instead going for an entirely wooden/rope aesthetic that feels right at home with the Floridian flora that dominates the landscape. The animals are kept large enclosures where you cant always see them- which actually makes me happy because the animals can get away from the crowds if they want. Theyre all taken care of by people who love their job, and it shows. It may be a small zoo, but its got more heart than Ive seen in the biggest ones.

Pool area is nice for kids and also the little petting exhibits. Train ride is below average. The reason why I gave such a low rating was the customer experience with the people who work here. The ticket counter was friendly and nice but the lady who took the tickets was very bitter and the people who worked the concession area were very rude and curt. They shut down way before the zoo closes and dont care if you were waiting in line before hand or not. The animals are hit or miss just like any zoo but they bring some animals inside way before closing time which is cheating the consumers in my opinion. We were going to purchase a family membership but were turned off during our visit. Overall nice little setup for younger children but very poor Customer service. However the zoo keepers were very friendly! We are disappointed at this zoo as we were hoping to come here multiple times a week but wont be coming here ever again.

Did the zoo in an hour, its small but great. The animals are definitely taken care of. They offer AAA discounts on admission. Giraffes were not out after 4 but still a lot to see. They also have zip lining. Will be doing that and the train ride next time. No issues with customer service. Animals were kept in big areas. That means a lot to me. Update: The train ride was lousy. The only point to it is to get a better view of the camels and the ostriches. The camels you get really close to but the ostriches are enclosed in like 10 x 20 foot fence with no habitat decor inside Not very interesting. Most of the train ride is next to road and highway. The driver is rude. The train seats are very tiny and they have the audacity to try and fit 3 adults to one seat. You can barely fit 1. But regardless thats just the train. The zoo is still great.

A fantastic zoo for families with young kids. All the pathways are very safe and there are many interactive and extra activites. EX: feed the giraffes (arrive early, by 11am for this, $2), feed the stringrays (usually in the afternoon, free), train rides to see some animals you cannot see on the pathways (I believe departs every 30 min, $3/person), feed the birds (new aviary being built now, some birds will land on your arm to feed, $2). The best part is the great kids area. Petting zoo, reptile/kids exhibit, sand play area, kiddie pool (shallow and good for 1-8 year olds, free). All the food and drinks are reasonably priced and not overpriced. The zoo does get busy by noon on weekends. Try to arrive when it opens (9:30am) to beat the crowds AND the animals are out more and you may even catch the zookeepers feeding them!

This place blows the Sanford Zoo out of the water. I had previously stopped going to the zoo because Sanford Zoo was so depressing. The Brevard Zoo, on the other hand, is clean, well kept, and their animals seem bery well taken care of. Their exhibits are fun for adults and kids. The giraffe-feeding exhibit is so cool for the kids. Be prepared, though. Their tongues are REALLY long and they reach far to get the food from your hands, whether youre prepared or not! They also have an amazing little water area! It is perfect because it is shallow enough that you can bring the little ones without worrying about having to get soaked yourself, and the older kids enjoy it well enough, because lets just be honest, when youre at the zoo in Florida in the summer, any water you can find to cool off is a blessing!! :)
