Years ago when Claude owned the course it was very nice 18 holes good greens, fairways, and tees. Then he added another nine holes more of an executive course where you could use all your clubs. I enjoyed making Lake City a stop off point before heading to Venice Fl. Played a few rounds there in the winter to get my game in shape before heading to Venice and points south. Last year I headed to Fl and stopped in Lake City. It has been awhile since I played Quail Heights. Found out that Claude didnt own the course any more. The new executive course was closed. The original course has been changed on what was the back nine now the front nine. One of the best par 5s from the old back nine a dogleg right is closed. The next hole which was a dogleg left is closed. Replaced by two holes that were on the executive course that are not that good. I was not very impressed with the layout, the condition of the greens were poor with little or no grass on them, tee boxes were not in good shape, fairways were okay and the greens fees were fair. The place has gone down from the parking lot to the clubhouse you can tell the club needs some work. Not sure if I will go back to play Quail next year. I hear Claude now owns Lake City Country Club and I hear that place is in great shape. That is a very nice golf course more of a country club higher end place than Quail which is more or less has the public golf course look and feel. Greens fees at Lake City CC are more but you get a far better course and more challenging,

We come here from Kentucky with as many as 25 couples every year in the fall and in the spring for a week of stay and play. We have been doing this for well over 20 years. We have a great time. The course is decent with some challe ging holes. The price is right and the people who run it very nice and accomodating.

the greens were nice but the rest of the course was pretty poor. fairways nonexistent bc of the winter. would rate this course as a muni NOT a country club. the price ($24) to walk was fair and the person in the pro shop was nice and helpful.
