Perfect for elementary schools and families with young children - there is a small room with a vending machine for snacks and drinks. If you want to eat food, you will need to bring it with you and eat at the tables where the vending machine is or info the back of building where there are metal covered round picnic tables. Museum is small but there are detailed displays with descriptions. There is a room with books and activities for the youngest of the group, story time, and the ability to touch some live animals like a python, spotted gecko, and turtle. There is a beautiful walking trail and you can borrow a big or toddler-sized backpack with binoculars, a checklist, a magnifying glass and other fun items for your nature walk. Prices are reasonable too for admission. There is also a small gift shop - prices are reasonable are the gift shop too, which was surprising

This museum is overpriced and overrated. There are so many wonderful things to do with children that I wouldnt waste my time again visiting this small museum. Its info cards are disjointed and after three visits m son knows the whole museum. For Dino Days they dont respect reciprocal memberships and they jack the price up $3 - just because of a handful of tables such as coloring Dinosaur. On our last visit staff felt it necessary to scold me for giving my children a few grapes as we walked out (in the foyer). Their rigid policies and lack of hands on exhibits make this my last choice in child fun in DE!

Ive only been to this museum three times since moving to the area, but twice have been surprised at how much Id missed during previous visits. This museum had its own genisis as a result of the scholarly labor of one DuPont family member, and the preservation of that work for the future by another. Part of the beauty of these unique collections is their ability to inspire and remind us that such endeavors do not spring from vanity or a desire to consume time, but instead from genuine curiosity engaged to understand the universe we are a part of. Excellent.

For young kids, the museums fantastic! A wonderful chance to interact with nature, both inside and out, on a local scale. A great destination, if you have a couple hours with the kids, and need an activity. An entertaining way to introduce children to the concept of museums as a fun place for them. A nice place to have a membership for the summer, to take advantage of the air conditioning, or to enjoy the camps. This museum is how a local business does childrens engagement well.

We just had a birthday party at the museum and it was a fantastic experience! The staff was great. The hands on contact with the live exhibits kept the kids completely interested. All the other main exhibits had our group, ages 3 to 60, amazed! We cant wait to visit again in the near future and will keep watching for any upcoming, special exhibits. Thanks for everything. Nice museum, very easy to get to and has a lot of wonderful displays for all ages to interact with. Youre greeted by a giant squid in the lobby, then you turn a corner to see a life size T-Rex skull! Its a good trip for parents with little ones. There are plenty of places for taking breaks, good changing facility, indoor and outdoor eating areas (weather dependant).

Fun and family friendly, but adults who are kids-at-heart will still enjoy. A smaller museum, you can easily see everything on a Sunday afternoon. Great and informative exhibits focusing on animals and habitats, with rocks and minerals on display and other stuff for good measure. Gift shop prices are very reasonable!

Awesome museum. Not too big and overwhelming and not too small. Good for kids and adults. Traveling exhibits. A cute nature nook with live animals. Clean restrooms. Coatroom...love it! Plenty of parking. Near lots of restaurants, pharmacy, etc. Outdoor butterfly garden. We are members for a reason. We ♡ the DMNH!

This is a really nice natural history Museum. Its small but it has nice animal and natural exhibits. Its good for adults and kids alike. The only misnomer is the butterfly garden. We were expecting an enclosed garden with butterflies. Instead its open air and there were no butterflies present when we were there.

Great place to take the kids. There was a little maze with a small zip line, rock climb, and other activities. The actual exhibits were on the small size but of quality. You could run through the museum in an hour and a half. It was a good time. Located in the rural part of Delaware. I went on a weekend.

My kids and I really enjoy it here. It isnt huge, but they do have a couple little interactive areas, and their Book in the Nook is great. A staff member reads a book and provides a related craft activity. Would definitely recommend to families with small children.

A very cool museum. We spent a half a day learning about natural history. This museum has a good selection of exhibits. The second largest egg collection in USA was a surprise. Good shell exhibits. A few dinosaurs. Kids enjoyed. Not a lot of hands on.

This is a neat little museum for younger kids. You might get 2 hours or so out of a visit here. Its a little expensive for the experience you get, honestly. The kids area and dinosaur area needs an update. Also, the snack area is usually pretty dirty.

Lovely collection of shells, taxidermy, lots of birds and bird eggs. Geared towards young families but with a big enough collection to take a couple of hours to look at. A pair of great dinosaur skeletons from central Asia. Definitely worth a visit.

Great spot for kids considering the tour can take 20 minutes or two hours based on their attention span... being from out of town, this was certainly worth the trip from PA to share something new with the family and its in such a nice area as well!

Small museum, so you wont want to go back every month, but high quality exhibits and a traveling exhibit room to keep things fresh too. We go once or twice per year. They also participate in free museum day! (Google it to get the date for this year)

Beautiful, informative, captivating display; interactive play areas, visually stimulating showcases, even a full size lunch room! We had a great time with the Dinosaur exhibit, in spite of the cold and wet weather.

I didnt expect to see actual dinosaur skeletons here. They must be worth millions. Five stars for that pleasure alone. The staff is snobby and stuck up but even so, a visit is worth the high admission price.

Visited museum during BofA Museum on Us Day. Young children with bank account were not allow to get in because they dont have valid picture IDs. Looks like the Museum expect us to get passports.

This a great family-friendly museum, the exhibits are well done and kids love the place. They change out the themed exhibits often enough to keep it interesting. Membership is affordable!
