I would say that I liked my trip to Cherry Creek State Park for Camping and would have recommended this campground until today. My husband and I have two dogs and according to the brochure for camping the quiet hours are 10PM-6AM. Tonight which would have been our last night there we were approached by a park ranger at 7:30 PM telling us that there were multiple complaints of our dogs barking and that if they received anymore complaints that we would be issued a citation. Needless to say they had just ruined our camping trip and we decided that we would be better off to just leave, but it is really irritating as it was not during quiet time hours. I could understand if it was during those hours, but since it was not that was the icing on the cake that made us decide that we were going to leave. We were going to file complaints with the park and with the company that we made the reservation through as we had lost a whole nights stay because of this. We have taken our dogs camping at other campgrounds and never had any complaints of this before. Hopefully enough people will read this review and realize if you have a dog that barks that this may not be the place to go camping because of this issue. For future reference I dont think that we will be going back to this park. This world has so many petty people anymore and this is just a ridiculous way to ruin someones weekend.

The park itself is great! The service of campground staff and the whole booking procedure of group campgrounds is so bad... !!! Unacceptable! We provide karate camp for kids every year for 5 years in the row and everytime we experience unprofessionalism when booking it. They say "you can only book summer camping 6 month in advance, not a day earlier. Call us on February 1st, we open at 9 am"... they said when i called in December. I was on my phone from 8:55 am till 9:40 am... no one answered my calls... so i drove to the camping office and at 9:40 am they tell me that "the dates you are requesting are already booked. Just now someone booked it." Office phone is ringing, ... she is not answering it.... no wonder i had 180+ attempts to reach them over the phone.... I think what happens is they book it for their friends with given priority while ignoring others... NOT ACCEPTABLE! Cherry Creek Management, you are better than this. Step it up! With respect, Okinawa Karate.

While I use the off leash area more than any other I still enjoy getting out and about on Cherry Creek State Park at various times. There are lots of trails for hikers, bikers and runners. The lake/reservoir has a beach for swimmers and, if capable, you can take your boat or jetski out on the water. In the winter people will even go ice fishing out on the ice. Other parts of the park include a remote controlled plane airport campgrounds and outdoor shooting range At various tines of day the sharp-eyed visitor can even find snakes, deer, bald eagles and the occasional coyote. I think I read somewhere that Cherry Creek State Park is the second largest urban park in the USA after Central Park in NYC. All in all, its not a bad place to get away from the TV and traffic without having to spend hours driving to and from the mountains.

This is a true gem of Denver, a piece of paradise in the middle of the city - or, at least it USED to be. Weekend visits are now marred by continual gunfire from the stupidly-located shooting range. That means no matter where you are - hiking trails, sailing on the north side of the lake, wetlands preserve - no matter where you are, the weekends sound like youre in a warzone in Afghanistan. Even with earphones in it is impossible to drown out the gunfire. That means you cant hear wildlife (which is impossible to see anymore with the increase of the guns), you cant hear bikes coming up on you from behind, you cant hear anything but guns. For a peaceful experience, you must come during the week before the guns get there. 5 STARS for a beautiful park. NEGATIVE 5 stars for the darned guns.

Beautiful park, taken care of, with great visitors that consistently clean up after their dogs. We visit this location mostly on weekdays due to odd schedules, so it is never too busy upon our arrival and visit, but I do know that it tends to be busier early and mid day on weekends. You must purchase a parking pass and a dog park pass tp come here, so I would recommend purchasing a Colorado State Parks pass and an additional Dog Park pass (valid at Cherry Creek and Chatfield Dog Parks). If you dont have a dog, multiple entry points are great for a scenic walk, mostly flat, and the multiple workout spaces and stretch bars that they have strategically placed along the way. We even had our engagement photos done here, just GORGEOUS!

While its a beautiful park, the people in the dog park area dont seem to know what happens in a dog park. This is my second visit to this park and I find some of the people there rude and too uptight for what is supposed to be a DOG park, not a people park. My large puppy was playing with a smaller dog and another dog owner walked past and said "give him a good kick and hell quit." The owner of the small dogs did not ask me to remove him and my puppy was not hurting them. Both times Ive gone to that par I found this attitude. Perhaps the park rules need to include that people who dont want their dog to play with other dogs should go to a regular park for their walks.

The swimming area and the lake itself is the only thing worth looking at, not too impressed after coming from cheyenne state park. I must say the showers are filthy and hold water, make sure and bring plenty of quarters and your rain boots, Im not trying to bash this place but come on, they dont even have soap dispensers in the bathrooms, its a bit much for those of us that cant afford a house on wheels. It also wouldnt hurt if they mowed once or twice a year. And most importantly bring plenty of bug spray, they will eat you and your food alive, if youre into rough camping and clammy feet youve found the right place.

The gentleman in the front. Great energy. Seems like a reasonable guy. I ask if they allow AR pistols. He asks his boss the short old man with a mustache. He says yes. Lie #1. Then the old man says that it has to be against your shoulder it cannot be held any other way because they are "out of control". I told him then it becomes an SBR and thats against federal law unless you have the $200 tax stamp from the ATF. He says no it is not. Lie #2. So in order for me to shoot you want me to break a federal law. His answer. "Yes". I smile and walk out. Have fun shooting here everyone! Cuz I wont come back ever again.
