I was very excited to come here with family that were visiting from Southern California. Upon arrival I received the worst customer service I could imagine. We had a large group with multiple Members for the winery. Half of the group were in the lawns while the those of us who drank wine sat in the members only. Upon my arrival and before even entering I was told that I couldnt go to the members section because there wouldnt be any room. It was an EXTREMELY warm and sunny day and I was carrying a 2 MONTH old. When I walked back I noticed at least 8 large tables open and my family was only using TWO. The temperature difference compared to the lawn was very noticeable, and felt about 10 degrees cooler. I could understand the attitude and rude looks I received if we were rowdy, and loitering without purchasing anything. But we ordered at least 10-12 bottles of wine. When the grounds were closing, they did not politely let us and other guests know. We were harassed and given attitude when we requested to at least take a family picture. The most aggravating part was the fact there were WHITE guests sitting in Both the lawn and members area that they did not request to leave once "closed". Watching them laugh, mingle, and enjoy full glasses of wine while we were getting glares, and rude attitudes made me feel that they were being RACIST. Our family was well behaved, cleaned up after ourselves, and spent A LOT of money. We did not deserve such poor customer service.

We scheduled a tour and tasting at HALL. The grounds and winery were beautiful. I was pretty drunk from the winery before but I think I remember the wine being good too... Our tour guide Ray Im STILL laughing about. He was super nice but Ive never met someone that could talk so much. He would ramble on monologue-style for 20 minutes in the same spot without taking a breath or asking anyone a question. I kept shuffling my feet and clearing my throat to give him a clue like okay dude lets move on. If I was an old person I would have passed out standing there. He would glance at me confused why I was interrupting and then keep rambling. On multiple occasions, I thought "Are we being punkd? Is he waiting for someone to say something? Is he just making this stuff up?" The tour was also pretty salesy - 50% of it felt like we were on a wedding venue tour. Eventually I tuned him out and just enjoyed the artwork and scenery. I wish we had time afterward to hang out WITHOUT Ray (lol) and enjoy some wine on the grounds, but they closed as soon as the tour was over. Skip the tour and just come for a tasting or to hang out.

My husband and I are members and very big fans of their wine - never disappoints! However, this weekend his business lost a star for us because we called to set a cave tour at their Rutherford location. The rep confirmed the 2 pm tour at Rutherford specifically and we re-arranged our weekend plans and drove out for over an hour to arrive on time at the location. We were not greeted in person and told we were book for a tour of their St Helena location. We did not arrive on time for THAT tour, obviously as it was scheduled for 2, and just picked up our membership wines. I think the customer service was lacking in this case as we dedicated an entire day essentially to this venture and obviously somebody made a mistake, as I repeatedly stated which tour we wanted to reserve over the phone. As a member I would expect higher accountability from a business of this caliber.

We let them "win". I refused to leave until someone at least acknowledged us in the tasting room full of staff. My husband kept insisting they didnt want our money and we should leave. We were willing to spend money and join the club like we had at other wineries earlier and I thought, "Surely, they want money." The first staff member we came in contact with was on her cellphone(I was willing to look past this because my husband and I both own businesses and employees have a hard time departing from their cell phones). However, it seemed to be the mentality of the place. We waited at the tasting room bar for 20 minutes and then left. No one seemed to care. We will not buy Hall wines at liquor stores and we will be sure to tell our friends.

After visiting a nearby winery and having a horrible experience, we decided to try Hall, and boy were we pleasantly surprised. 180 degrees different from the first place. Hall was welcoming, engaging, personable, and yes the wine was excellent. Carol took care of us and treated us like family. We got a history of the winery and learned about how the Halls got into the wine business. Its clear from the attitude and people that work here love their job, love their customers and treat you fantastically. We ended up joining their wine club and look forward to coming back and enjoying some of their events and beautiful grounds.

This recently was my first time at Hall although have been drinking their Napa Cab for a while. The building is quite new and holds a nice art collection. My wife and I were the only ones there on a Thursday morning in January (slow season) and we were promptly greeted. The wine tasting was nice although on the more expensive side at $40/person. We ended up joining the wine club if that tells you anything about how much we like their wine! Their specialty is cabernet sauvignon which is our favorite kind of wine. The Ellies is especially good.

We have been big Hall fans and their wines are fantastic, so it pains me to say I am not a fan of the new St. Helena tasting room/tour experience. The "barrel" tasting was nothing more than 1 barrel in the corner of the newly opened Bergfeld building. When I mentioned the previous barrel tasting when we had a comparison, I was told they wanted to save space. While the new facility is state of the art, it has transformed from a place to experience great wines into an art showcase and event center. Very disappointed....

Hall Wines is so much different from other vineyards in Napa. Modern architecture. Art around the vineyard. Planting of their own vegetables. And delicious red vino, from the glass, bottle, or barrel. I had an amazing time here, with the fall sun setting above the grape fields, our knowledgeable host explaining the rich history of the vineyard, and a private tasting of their more expensive bottles. What more can you ask for. Best compliment - that visit turned me into a red wine enthusiast.

You dont always get to experience all 4 senses, but this gets pretty close. The view from the tasting room is stunning! Modern art fills the air from every angle with unctuous wine than never disappoints. The educators know the history behind the historic Bergfeld Winery, the story behind the HALLs involvement with the various artists and most of all, the wine. Highly recommend you plan your visit to Napa Valley around this incredible winery!

Nice wine, poor tasting room staff. I belong to many wine clubs and have visited many wineries over the years but this is the least client facing staff that I have experienced. I likely would have joined the wine club and the very least made a purchase but no one would help me. Staff has very low Hospitality IQ quotient. This is good wine and if could get a better staff would be top in valley.
