I went to The Rink this past weekend and woah... Woah, is all that I really have to say about this place. The outside seems ran down, and its not exactly in the best area. I decided to go to The Rink because my friends were interested in trying out a skating rink in the area. I guess a plus, would be that its not the hardest place to find. Parking in the parking lot is okay. The parking lot when I arrived was full of around 30-40 cars, but seemed dirty. There was cups all over the parking lot, and trash scattered. I didnt let a dirty parking lot ruin the night of fun that was about to happen. We went inside the lobby area, and I have no complaints. Was easy and pretty quick to get inside seeing as there was a line of around 15 people, they did actually get us in pretty quick. Once inside I went to their skate rack to find a pair of skates. Woah, thats the next ting! The person working at their skate counter was absolutely rude, I asked for a size 8, and it was too small. I went up to the counter to exchange the pair of skates for a size nine and they called me and idiot! Are you serious? I got the wrong size skate so Im an idiot.. Isnt that just what I wanted to hear today.. He said it to a buddy quietly as he was turning around, but I was able to hear. Throughout the night all I really did was skate with my friends. As much skating as we could do with all of the punk kids skating way too fast, and way too close to us. They were extremely rude and didnt care about anyone in their way. There was absolutely no enforcement of any type of safety rules, and the music they were playing was absolutely horrible for a public place. I will never be back.

The Rink was my first rink since returning to skating at 29. Overall, it is clean and well lit, polite staff and a few arcade games. The lighting system is really great, but sometimes the DJ is unintelligible due to the sound system. The music is clear but voiceover is horrible. Last visit they even turned on a fog machine for a moment. The skates are okay, but I wound up with a very loose truck on my skates recently (which made them hard to control) which should have been caught by regular maintenance. The rental wheels also tend to be too slippery for their flooring - or perhaps the floor is just dirty. Even very experienced skaters were falling last time I visited, due to wheel slippage. (Perhaps a coincidence, but most of them fell very near the fog machine, and some fog machines use an oily substance.) Overall I dont mind The Rink when I want to skate, but they could do more. Daytime sessions for parents (turn off the arcade games and snack bar to save $$ if necessary) and season passes would make a huge difference.

Had a birthday party planned for my daughter here. The worst party ever! Party was booked for 3pm. Got there and there was not a table set up for my guests. I was told I wouldnt get a table until serving time at 3:30. Once I got a table it only had plates and cups on it, no table cloth but I was told it would be decorated. At 3:30 the pizza was suppose to be served since I only got to keep the table until 4 when the party was paid for until 5 but the pizza was not put in until 3:20. The party guest did not get to eat until 3:45 and at 4 we were moved to another table. No cake was served! I had to ask to get the cake and cut and serve the cake myself. It was a disaster especially for what I had to pay. I could of done the party at my house since I was hosting my own party. The Rink over books birthday parties to where its not enjoyable for the kids or the parents paying for it. I complained to the manager just to be told, sorry. Not satisfied at all! Never will I have a party there again.

I originally went to The Rink only monthly for Sac City Rollers roller derby bouts but I just went last night for their Sunday 7-9:30p open skate session and had a great time and will be coming back for more before they temporarily shut down for roof maintenance summer 2017. Excellent music selection and requests are free. Open and welcoming staff members and patrons. Its hard to beat $5.50 for 2.5hrs of skating! Open and free parking and is handicap accessible. The only two qualms I have with The Rink is, one, their floor - not a traditional wooden, which isnt a deal breaker, but it has seen some damage that theyve attempted to fix but leaves for a textured skating surface compared to other rinks in the area. Second item of note is for when Im photographing roller derby bouts - the giant bright orange "The Rink" on the big wall is hideous and makes for terrible photographing.

Overcrowded, dirty carpeted walls, obnoxious kids, inappropriate music (of course the kids like to go to The Rink for that reason), very little enforcement of rules. You have kids skating at 45mph on inline skates right past your 10 year old. The "owner" is also very annoying and repeatedly announces that he is "the owner" every single time we go there. The last time I went, I overheard "the owner" yelling at a kid for having a whistle. Enforce the rules, but dont act like a jackass and puff up to a 13 year old kid. Then comes the annoying "because Im the owner and I know the rules." I refuse to go here again. Go to the roller rink in Roseville (Riverside Ave) - its WAY nicer and they dont nickel and dime you. Besides, youll be in the company of well behaved people with class.

This place is not safe for anyone to go to anymore. Every time we have let our daughter go for a Friday or Saturday skate, there are fights in the parking lot with all the rude and disrespectful kids and young adults and our daughter has called because she was afraid with all the violence and going on inside and people with guns outside. It has turned into a hang out for all the unsupervised kids. We will not be returning to this Rink. Its unfortunate too because it really is a nice place if there wasnt so many issues such as this.

The Rink (nee King Skate) has put some effort into updating the place. Its friendly, secure and a good entertainment bargain. The music is kept up to date, which is critical for kids. The staff is friendly and keeps a watchful eye for safety. Adult night is their secret weapon and attracts ever more people who love to exercise by skating to music they grew up with. They do not offer a season pass option, which is unfortunate as that would encourage a loyal customer base, regulars who bring friends. For that, they lose one star.

New owners, cleaned up quite a bit from king skate days, kid friendly morning zoo on Saturdays is fun, we recently had a fun kids birthday there it was great and our server/helper was attentive and sweet! They do however need to have a monthly pass!!! At close to $15-20 a trip just to get in, our family can only go once a month and we avoid the snack bar...if they had a monthly/ or 3 month pass we would probably go 4-5 times a month and use the snack bar, etc.
