In the past I have loved this winery. I recently traveled to the winery, making a trip specifically to the Los Gatos area to visit David Bruce. We had an overall OK experience however, the person pouring wine did not spend hardly any time going over the wines we were tasting. We still were big David Bruce fans and ordered wine. Living out of state we thought that there would be no problems with shipping. Unfortunately half of our order did not come in and when we called about it, the deal we had purchased was no longer available. Instead of offering something comparable we were told the best the winery could do was send us back our money that was spent for shipping. So, even though the wines are very good - the service is extremely lacking and I am greatly disappointed.

I like their wines but Ive been served a Pinot more than once that was well past its day. This was apparent by the vintage (I tend to see this lighter wine served young) and taste, but was also clear from the slashed prices. I feel for the loss but unloading spoiled wine isnt acceptable. Witnessed a customer try to return a case of it -- said theyd had too much at the time and realized it was spoiled when they tried it sober at home. Kind of a dirty tactic. Service was good, if a bit baselessly pretentious. For the record, I believe they DID accept the return. Im not personally a huge fan of this regions wines (prefer central coast and Sonoma) but they do have some solid wines.

Really nice tasting room, beautiful grounds in the secluded Santa Cruz mountains, and enthusiastic and knowledgeable service. And of course, delicious pinot noir. David Bruces skills are on full display with really delicious, complex red wines.

Loved the Chardonnay and the estate 04 pinot. Halfway through the flight David Bruce himself walked out and spent a precious ten minutes with each group. What a treat.
