Here are the things that impressed me about this theater. I brought in a gorillapod flexible tripod. I was not allowed to bring that in. So I was walked downstairs to the coat check where I got to check the item for free. And when the night was over I asked a staff member to direct me back to coat check and guess what. He asked for my coat check ticket and had the gorillapod brought back to me. Now that is service. The VIP room, to which I purchased a ticket so I could meet and greet Scott Bradlees Postmodern Jukebox after the show, is really terrific. It is basically a club with its own bar and bathroom behind the stage. One did not have to wait until after the show to go into the VIP room. So I could, had I wanted to, leave my seat, go to the VIP bar where there was no line, get a drink, and bring the drink back to my seat. While the bartender was fixing my drink I would have been able to watch multiple flat screen televisions of the stage show. Before the show I went into one of the non-VIP bathrooms and there were soooooo many stalls there was no line at all. There were so many concession stands that the line in each one was fairly short. I did not eat the concession food but I saw what other people had on their plates and I heard what they were saying about what they ate and seemingly the food was high quality. People were especially impressed with the carne asada. So apparently the food is a step up from regular concession food. Plus there is a DJ in the downstairs concession area and there were food and drink specials in the concession area and there was plenty of seating to actually sit down and enjoy the food in the concession area. One thing I did not like was the air conditioning. The main floor of the venue was filled. And even with all those bodies the temperature was really, really chilly. The AC was just set too cold. The sound system was excellent and the hugh, high definition screens on either side of the stage were probably too crisp for the liking of older performers. I mean you could see every skin flaw those screens were so crisp. The staff was sooooo friendly and sooo professional. I would recommend seeing shows at this venue. There was an entry to the venue directly from one of the parking lots. This means people could go from their car to the venue without having to get out in the rain (if it ever gets back to raining in this part of town). I also imagine this is so that disabled people can get to the venue the shortest way possible. So that is cool too.

With all the buzz each year at the Summertime block buster stadium shows sometimes you long for the intimate. If you consider 7,000 intimate, so be it. I dont often come to LA considering many of my favorite acts also come to SD and OC which is half the distance and 1/3 the effort to go to, but "will travel for music" is one of those things you really should live by. Acoustically its to me unmatched at this size range. Its got a huge stage, arena sized stage almost. Parking is all around. Since its not as popular as other events in the area (non conflicting of course). You can find spots within about a half dozen blocks walk and the parking fees arent too bad. It can get sketch the further from the venue you get. Valet is not recommended as the exit traffic is bad for everyone. I have no issues getting cocktails and the prices are slightly above other local sporting events. The only real issue I have here is the bathrooms. The lines are long, but nothing crazy, but plenty of room. Granted concert seats are not luxurious, they were above average in comfort. Solid and felt new (theater isnt). Ushers are great. Never had a bad experience. Actually my last was superb. Usually upgrading to packaged seats ensures better views, better service and such is totally the case. I didnt purchase for my last visit here, but considering the concert sold out and these were purchased not long beforehand the prices must have been ridic so I was obliged to pay for the rest of the night. My usher spoke to me by name. Its such a great place to catch a show, grab some dinner and be in the center of LA. So many other great events and awards shows happen here. Shows are the key word here. Its not necessarily a concert venue that gets thrashed from a rock bands fans, but rather a performance. Gas prices just south or north of here are generally 20-30 cents less expensive.

The performers/performance was great. I watched Pokemon Symphonic evolution. HOWEVER, I bought the tickets online for 50 bucks (that was teh cheapest seat). When I got to the event, they had handed out flyers to buy the tickets for 15. They DO not take refunds so I couldnt return my tickets and get it for 15 dollars. Thats more than 50% off. DO NOT BUY TICKETS ONLINE, unless you are sure they will sell out. Otherwise, you can just buy them there at the box office. Also, another man behind me in line got a voucher online to get the ticket for $25. SO CHECK GROUPON. Another thing, people here are very rude and strict. At the end of the show, I literally took one step past the door and did a quick U turn cause I realized I wanted to buy a T shirt they were selling inside. They made it quite a hassle when the door greeter literally saw me and I was only one foot out the door. For the poster signing, there was a long line. I bought a T shirt, and my boyfriend bought a poster. They told me I couldnt go down the escalators to the poster signing and wait in line with him, because I didnt have a poster. Eventually a nice cool dude let me in, otherwise me and my boyfriend would have been waiting seperately for about 40 minutes, dying of boredom. When I did go down the escalator, a lady (kinda rudely) asked can I help you? After a couple more questions I told her that the guy upstairs said I could wait in line and then she dropped it. I dont know who that guy is, but thanks to him I didnt have to wait alone outside and my boyfriend didnt have to be alone in line. If I could choose, id prefer to have the performance somewhere else, but since most of them will be held at this theatre, I guess we will just have to deal with the rudeness.

Went to Nokia Live to see Cirque Berzerk and was really disappointed with the venue. This has nothing to do with the show but with the operation of the theater. First, the show was supposed to start at 8pm, in reality it finally started at about 8:15. But in the most poorly managed venue I have ever experienced, at about 8:20 they ushered everyone from the bar/lobby into the theater. Literally 50+ maybe 100 people in the dark trying to find their way to seats. Blocking the view of the entire balcony section for a good 5 -10 minutes. Making everyone in the aisle stand up so they could stumble to their seats with drinks in hand. Same thing following intermission, the show starts and everyone stumbles in from the bar to again try to find their seats. Hey Nokia. I will probably never return because of this. But you should follow the example of other established theaters, once the show starts people are stuck outside the theater until intermission. Too Bad. There are monitors so they can watch the show. Maybe people will be on time to the show.
