Vulcan Park has one of the best views of Birmingham; it is not THE best view due to some trees that tend to block the view a bit. The best views are up the hill a bit near the TV stations located atop the mountain. The park itself is comprised of a museum with displays and stories about the history of the statue, and an observation tower that takes you inside the statue. That would be the other way to get a good view of Bham. Its not free, but it is a nice way to remember a trip to Bama. The statue was renovated in the early 2000s (2004, I believe) for about $12,000,000.00 USD. Total waste of money for such an ugly creation. Thats okay, though, it was paid for by all the tax paying U.S. citizens. Its not like we had a war to fight, or anything. I do recommend visiting Vulcan Park, but only once, unless you just like ugly statues and great views.

Very good place. You can enjoy the history. If you are student, you can have a special discount. The Vulcan statue is perhaps the most iconic site in Birmingham, and it and the associated museum are definitely worth a stop if youre visiting Birmingham! The Vulcan is the largest cast iron statue in the world and its a symbol of the citys roots in iron and steel. It was created as Birminghams entry for the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis. For less than $10 a person, you can get entrance into the museum and a trip (either by the steps or by the elevator) to the top of the Vulcan! The little museum is a history of the Vulcan and the history of Birmingham itself! And the view both from the base of the Vulcan and from the top are amazing! A do not miss if you are visiting the city - especially for the first time!

Theres always a full moon over Birmingham thanks to Vulcan! Vulcan Park is a great stop for tourists and locals alike. The grounds are beautifully manicured with nice walking paths, and and the views of the city from the observation deck are hard to beat. The statue itself, created in 1904 for the St. Louis Worlds Fair, has been wonderfully restored and is the largest cast iron statue in the world. The museum is interesting and gives the history not only of Vulcan, but of the advent of the Magic City itself. The admission fee of $6 makes it very affordable. You can picnic in the park area and find some unique Birmingham made souvenirs in the gift shop. Dont visit Birmingham without making a trip to the park!

I have to start off by saying that I didnt get to see the museum, so keep that in mind. First of all, admission price is very reasonable. The view of the city is great. The grounds are very nice. If you need to burn off some calories you can climb the 159 steps to the top. The downside is that theres just not that much to do here. Plan for an hour tops. Also, I was disappointed because its hard to get a good shot of the statue because of the towers right next to it. Anyway, this is a nice little stop, but Im not sure its an absolute "must see" attraction. If you have an hour to kill and/or dont want to spend much then this is the place for you.

One of the best views in the city and a unique venue. We had our rehearsal dinner here and everyone enjoyed themselves. There is a list of vendors for catering to choose from and they pretty much let you decorate however you want- candles do have to be covered. There is indoor and outdoor space, your guests have access to the grounds, event room, statue, museum. AV equipment includes speaker system, screen and projector. Clarence was a pleasure to work with, inviting and knowledgeable. He was willing to do whatever he could to make things easy and a success.

Tourist and Locals favorite. Vulcan Park and Museum is a really great place. Its somewhat family friendly. You get to press a penny, walk through the museum and view the history of Birmingham and Vulcan. The stature is surrounded by a park that has a section with picnic tables for outdoor eating and sitting! Its a prefect way for your family to unplug and get involved with history. Children four and under enter free. Adult prices are $6.60(including tax) each. Dont forget to wear a jacket!! It gets extremely windy up there!!! Enjoy!

Today is June 3, 2017. Around 3:30 pm., while I was walking with my daughters and this security guard working for Vulcan Park and he was in a civilian car approaching us. He said, Are you single and wanna to have a date with him?" I said, "No." He kept staring my rear until we reahed the stairway walking up to the Vulcan Status. On my way back to my car, I have to asked some visitors to walk me and my daughters back to my car. I will never come again. I should have given -10 stars to this park if I could.

Must see. The tower offers a breath-taking view of the city. You can see through the floor of the platform which gives you that thrill when you look down. Fun if youre not afraid of heights, of course :) The museum next to the Vulcan tower tells the history of the city and its lifestyle in the period of the industrial revolution. I definitely recommend taking a tour! Quality illustrations, engaging stories and some interactive elements you can play with.

Very interesting historically and impressive monument. Great representation of the city itself. Awesome views. I was impressed they did not white wash the history too badly. Didnt like that they nickel and dime you... $6 to get in, oh but you also have to pay for the museum, and unless you want to walk 25 stories up to the Vulcan theres a charge for the elevator... Id rather just be charged up front. Anyway, definitely worth a visit.

I highly recommend a visit to this site. Do not skip the museum attached to it. Entry is $6/$4 and free for <4 years. Sometimes they have concerts and the ticket price is >$15 for the day. However, since we traveled from out of town and were leaving that afternoon, they were kind and let us in for the standard rate. BTW, there is no reflecting cascaded pool.

Vulcan Park offers picturesque views of Birmingham as well as a wonderful view of historical landmarks in the city. The history of the statue is all available at the park and a great place to garner an appreciation of this century old feat of Americana! This is a wonderful park to take the family for an afternoon outing or a picnic.

Great ace, worth the stop over. Museum was fun and educational. The Vulcan was massive and very impressive. Recommend the elevator up, but take the stairs down to get a real feel for what it took to build this beheamoth. And dont forget to stop and say hello to Connie Richards, the Alabama Womens State Bowling Champion 1966.

“Great Place for a Stroll ” We decided to check out this park and museum on a whim. I found it to be impressive and informative. You get a great view of the city - disclaimer though: when you get up to the statue, the walkway around the base of the statue is a metal grate, so you can see all the way down. This might...

Great place to visit even if all you do is walk around the public areas. Great view of town; gives great perspective on layout and history of city. A must for any visitor. Wonderful spot for picnic lunch. Museum is fantastic. I dont necessarily see the value in paying to go up the statue; view is already good enough.
