I play at Cheekwood routinely and can tell you without bias, that this is a very well maintained nice little course with a great staff. It has new ownership, Todd Jasper, and a new pro, Rob McGraw. They are both great guys. The course superintendent, Kyle, has done a very nice job bringing this course back from the dead. The sand is greatly improved, and the greens are very nice and roll true. Some are quite challenging too. The membership director and other office staff are pleasant and welcoming. The friendliness I feel when I’m there means a great deal to me. Pros: Very nice greens and fairways, and the tees are in excellent shape. Although it’s short, it’s pretty tight and the greens can be challenging. There are brand new golf carts with GPS! Cons: Its a bit on the short side and its only 9 holes. The way I get around the fact that its only nine holes is to play it twice, once from the Blues and once from the Whites. There is no driving range but they have plans for that in future renovations. Some of the native areas still need some clean up, as do part of the cart paths, but like I tell people; you can’t bring a neglected golf course back in a year. It takes time. Lastly, if you come to the course, wear a collared shirt and no jean shorts. There is, and there should be a dress code to make it enjoyable for all. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

This place is amazing. Never have I seen a more comforting and social staff that will welcome anybody. Lots of hard work, with a small staff, the people work their tails off and still give you a happy face and take time to talk to you about your day. Theyve taken care of the person the other review talked about, and seriously, they are the nicest people of any course. The course is great too, and well taken care of. Challenging and fun, and great to come back and say hi to the friends Ive met that work there. Much better and cheaper than Legends, and much more hospitable and kind. Even the players are leagues better than the players at Legends, in terms of good attitude and sociability. 99% of the players and workers are incredible people, and the quality of the course is great too. A few sand bunkers are low on sand, but still paved and perfectly playable. Unlike legends as well, they take care of their ponds and eco life. Theyve adopted a stray cat that likes to hang out, and is incredibly friendly. Nearly took off with it in my cart.

Awful. They dont allow you to walk Friday-Sunday. They say its for pace of play. I showed up today at 1:00 with about 8 cars in the parking lot and they turned me away. I was baffled. I played it last Sunday and had to beg the guy to let me walk and I had to pay a cart fee to just do that. I played two balls a hole and still had to wait on every hole. But it was me the walker that held everybody up. They will let a single go out in a cart which makes no sense. If its that crowded then you will make them go out in twosomes and foursomes. Its a shame because it really is a fun little course even if it is really short. At 2700 yards though its laughable that they wont let you walk. I will never visit this place again and thats a shame. They should really realize what they have and market toward that. A lot of people like to go out in the afternoon and walk nine to end the day but this place wont allow it.

I came here with my brothers and dad on Fathers Day as a spur of the moment thing. We were dressed casually because the place we normally go to (it was closed for an event) doesnt enforce a dress code. They seemed to have no problem with our attire when we were renting clubs and golf carts, but after a few minutes on the course an employee came to us and told us we couldnt be on the course because of the way we were dressed (t-shirts and khakis). It was late in the day so we just decided to leave (not much of a choice). We were in the middle of enjoying a round of golf and were essentially forced to leave. I feel that the way this was handled was very rude and unprofessional. You think they would have just cut their losses and let us finish our game (not our fault they rented clubs and golf carts to us).

I have been playing this golf course for 20+ years and the new renovations that have been made are truly AMAZING! The greens are Champion Bermuda and are in just as good, if not better shape than most private courses in the area. I highly recommend playing this course, it is an incredibly beautiful golf course and is only getting better as the renovations continue. Cheekwood is a hidden gem in middle Tennessee and the staff is great! 5 stars doesnt do it justice, it is a 10 star in my book!

Aug 2015 - Spenser Creek Golf club has been bought out by new people and they are the kind of people who will not honor groupons except for face value (if purchased before they took ownership). This is a self serving tactic where they put their own interest above that of their customers. I make it a rule to stay away from businesses that conduct themselves in this manner, one way or another they will eventually do you wrong.

I wanted to like this course, but its overpriced for what you get, not very creative in its layout, greens were awful, overall just not very challenging. The fairways and Tee boxes were in good shape and the staff is very friendly, but otherwise not a course Im adding to my rotation.

I started learning golf at this great little course with lessons from Rob McGraw, the Head Golf Pro. Like Rob, everyone at Cheekwood is very friendly and welcoming. Expect a warm welcome and great play. The staff here work very hard to make the course beautiful and fun to play.

Enjoyed an early Saturday morning round at this fun little 9 hole course. It was in great shape. However, I really wish they would cut their greens a bit more...they were terribly slow so you were unable to enjoy some of the subtle breaks on the greens.
