I was chaperone for my daughters 1st grade field trip. We paid ticket price and noticed tons of other schools there that day. Problem is they make you pay $2.00 for food to feed animals otherwise the kids cant get close to the animals. We waited in line for 15 min. to see this bird exhibit that you can only approach the birds with an apple stick that you pay for yet they wouldnt let me bring my purse in. So after waiting in line we get in with no money so the girls I had with me couldnt approach the birds. The staff should be clear dont waist your time in line if you dont bring in money. These kids paid ticket price and parents didnt send extra money so it put me as a chaperone in an awkward situation because I now had to pay for two children . Not fair to the kids I will never go back. Just include it in the ticket price the kids were very disappointed and with the little bit they have at this zoo kids are the only ones interested. Go to Philadelphia Zoo free petting zoo included and its not much further.

I contacted Elmwood Park zoo 3 months ago to book my 9 y/o daughters birthday party and I am so happy that I had done so. All of my questions were answered by Eric Donovan and Seth promptly and they worked with me on every decision prior to the party. I did decide to pay the extra $50.00 for the indoor space and the decorations were more than I have asked for! The A/C felt great on this hot day as well :) The food was delicious. We had the pizza that was included in the package and then I decided to add on the hoagie tray and some sodas for the adults. The hoagie tray was fresh and the pizza was very yummy! I can not express how great of an experience we had. My coordinator on the day of the birthday party was Matt and he was extremely helpful and treated my guests with superb customer service! Thank you so much Elmwood Zoo for the great experience you provided in making my daughters party a success. I would highly recommend this facility for any event you are planning to have. It is worth the money!!

Zip line obstacle course is a plus! The zoo is relatively small & easy to navigate. The animals are not far from one another although they have enough room for themselves for the most part. We like feeding the giraffes & the Bison. The bats were very active. The Otters were very playful in the winter & in the warmer climate. The big cat didnt seem too happy the last time we were there. There was a larger enclosure being built for the cat so hopefully that will please the cat & is an improvement. The wolf also seemed lonely. It would be nice for the wolf & the fox to have companions. Hoping to visit again soon. I think there was an area where you could feed birds. I dont think that area was opened when we visited. Was surprised and happy that they had Masala chai.

What a gem. This lovely little zoo surpassed expectations. From the moment we step foot inside, we were in awe staring at a pair of golden eagles. Separated by nothing more than a stout 2 - 3ft wall. Cohabitating with them were a number of bald eagles and a ton of black hooded vultures that were pretending to be part of the eagle exhibit. A relationship we have actually observed naturally occurring in the wild at the Conowingo Dam straddling MD and PA. We then moved on to the barn where a four horned Jacob sheep reside. Beyond the barn was the new jaguar complex, built to harbor mama Inka and her 7mo old cubs. Afterwards, we visited a number of other displays and eventually got into the aviary where we fed parrots.

They get three-stars and they only get three stars because of the condition of the animals the animals are so healthy and beautiful it looks like theyre almost in the wild... but then you realize - hey there behind and glass or they are behind the fence or gate but other than that charging me $18 a door and then charge me $4 for every single event/ride because you have to be a member to get the discount of a dollar and they still charge you $3 per event or ride for a child so if you want to do all the rides and you pay the cost at the door and food, super expensive!! Charge less at the door or not at all so people can have the incentive to want to pay $4 FOR 3 PIECES OF ROMAN LETTUCE TO FEED THE BISON!

Wonderful gem of a local zoo, featuring such a great experience for much less than a big city zoo. The zoo features themed areas of animals, such as a barnyard area with sheep, goats, and chickens; an American area with deer, bison, and prairie dogs; reptiles such as alligators, turtles, etc. They have a brand new jaguar exhibit, a open area for eagles to fly above, monkees, and much more. Theres a small fee for special adventures like to feed giraffes, but the price to get in is very reasonable. The parking is free. One note: this zoo is very popular on weekends, so be sure to go at off-peak times. They literally have to turn people away because of it being full sometimes.

My mother-in-law knew about this cute, close and perfect zoo for younger kids and we took a family trip/visit on my sons 4th birthday. It is PERFECT for kids from little ones to teens. Not only is it a zoo, they have a full zip-lining cpurse for various ages, prices, etc. It is so much cheaper then the Philadelphia Zoo and less walking for the kids. It also has a full playground (for free), carousel (extra), and a little roller coaster for up to about 5 or so in age. Picnic areas so you can pack a lunch and sit down on a benches in the shade. At night, they also have a beer fest and live music for adults. Very cool and 100% recommended for anyone in driving distance!

Used to be our favorite zoo to go to. We went today for the day before school fun day. A lot was under construction. Bought our tickets at the gate to feed the Giraffes (our main reason to come) . When it was time to feed the giraffes, we had to wait in the line to purchase tickets, just to feed the giraffes. So we waited twice! A lot of unhappy people around me, waiting twice, including me. Most people that already paid, went around and jumped the line. Should not punish the people that bought tickets ahead of time. Could not ride the ponies or feed the birds. Food truck were not running, but the web page says they are open daily.

I really enjoyed this Zoo. We frequent other zoo locations like the Philadelphia Zoo, the Cape May Zoo, the Cohanzick Zoo, and the Popcorn Zoo. This zoo requires more then a free zoo like Cape May, but offers unique experiences that you cannot find at the other locations like the ability to hand feed the giraffe (for a small fee) and climb onto an old fashion train to view buffalo. This zoo is upgrading a wild cat area and has jungle adventure in the trees as well. Disclaimer our local library gave us free passes to visit the zoo so for us it was a win win kinda of outing. We were able to save on tolls as well so it was a good day.
