The employees at this golf course are extremely rude, hateful, unfriendly, and generally nasty. They all act like they dont actually want you to be there paying to play this nice, low cost public links course. I love the course and hate the staff. Knowing how hateful they are in the clubhouse, I just go in and pay without saying a word and walk to the first tee, just ignore them as much as you can. They have hateful old snobs, young smart-mouths, even a stuck-up pretty girl. It really is unbelievable how nasty all of these people are. It almost seems like an act sometimes like they are trying to shock you to the point of frenzy then burst out with, "Just Kidding buddy, oh we got you good, sorry about all that bad stuff, go have a great round!" They will try to overcharge you, try to alter or lose your tee time at the course, try to force you to play in a different group rather than with your friends, Im surprised they dont yell obscenities at you on the first tee and ring bells during your backswing. They have the worst staff of any course in the Shenandoah Valley, maybe all of Virginia. But I emphasize again, the course is great and once out and away from those staff members you will love the forgiving layout and well-maintained fairways/greens, it is great for lower skill level players who want to make some pars and possibly a birdie or two. If it wasnt for the staff, I would give this course another star.

Always play when Im visiting the in-laws. A shorter course but the dog legs and the valley wind can cause it to play longer than youd expect based on the scorecard from the tips (9 and 15 in particular). Narrow lanes on a few tee boxes will also play mind games for some. Generally in very good shape. Some of the collars can be a little rough but they have been working hard to get them back up to the standard of the rest of the course. Super friendly staff. They remember me despite the fact that I only make it down there from the DC Metro area once every 2-3 months. Worth a visit for sure.

I visited this golf course for the first time last year when visiting my fiance at JMU. I LOVED IT and played the best game I ever had up to that point. I now visit this course almost everytime I go to harrisonburg, or atleast when my woman lets me haha, and I would recommend it to anyone. You cant beat the price to play. I paid $42 bucks last ZTime I went last week to play 18 on a beautiful EXTREMELY well kept course. Im from Virginia Beach and here, you cant find a course like that under $50+ for 18. If your in the Harrisonburg area PLAY THIS COURSE YOU WONT REGRET IT!

I have played Heritage Oaks for years and as the commenter below says it is a terrific course. In my experience over the past 10 years the staff has been friendly, helpful and accommodating not only to me but to others who I have seen them interact with in the clubhouse. The only time I have seen that they can become stern is if someone is not observing the course rules. Great course, Great Staff, Great golf.

Played this course for the first time a few days ago and really enjoyed playing here. For me it was a good mix of challenging and forgiving. The course was in great shape and is very well maintained. I live an hour away but Ill definitely be coming back to play here from time to time.

I have played the course twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Unlike another poster, I found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The course is fairly open and is in very nice, and extremely well maintained. Looking forward to playing again.

My first time playing here. Got paired up with 2 nice gentlemen. Both the greens and fairways were in good shape. The greens could have been a bit faster, but they rolled true. The course is short and not too challenging, but I had a good time.

Super course and condition. Had a lot of rain so it was cart path only and the greens were a tad slow because they couldnt be cut but a great conditioned course.
