The Good: Very good layout, challenging holes w/ a good range of tee yardages. Fairways and greens tend to be in great shape year round. Course drains well except for the traps. The Middle: Speed of play is very questionable at times, but generally ok in the AM. Traps need a lot of work and havent been addressed in several years...usually flooded out after a big rain. Tee boxes can be hit or miss. Club house is very pedestrian and the practice course only lets you hit off the grass at very limited times. They almost always force you to hit off the mats. In fact, I started hitting balls around 11:45am one day and was pushed to the mats exactly at 12pm... which leads me to management. The Bad: Management. Easily the worst managed golf course Ive seen. Openly short, rude staff and/or moody most of the time... particularly when you offer feedback. One of the pros actually told me "We are here to make money my friend" when I asked why there was a full-blown outing on a Saturday that closed the whole course. Ive lived in the area for five years and management has changed a lot, so inconsistency is a big issue for this courses ability to provide a good golf experience. The Bottom Line: For $90+, youll get a good golf course. If your nose gets bent out of shape over the golf experience intangibles when you pay that much (like mine does), avoid South Riding. Recommend Westfields, Raspberry Falls or Stonewall Golf Club.

Sloan Meadows

The course was great today. I havent played it in years, but the greens rolled nice (very important to me). They did recently redo some of the bunkers, so the ones they put sod over still were a little rough, but they should be good by the summer of 2017. Some of the fringes were burnt out, but overall the course was in great shape! Only real complaint was that it was super wet, but it dumped a bunch of rain last night, so there is nothing they can do about that!

Fun local course. Issues would be: a) often over booked and therefore long waits b) wear and tear on course can be excessive due to it being over booked c) the clubhouse is rather pedestrian for a course that is charging 80-90 per round d) the maintenance is average to poor (for the same reason as (c). Having said that, when the crowds are manageable its a fun, middle/short disance course with a descent layout and very easy to get to.

For some inexplicable reason, the course will not let you walk with a push or pull cart. They said I could walk the course but only if I carried my bag! When I asked at the Pro Shop what was the rationale behind this, they simply said "Because thats the rule" but could not explain the logic it was based on. Needless to say, I did not play the course and never will!!!

Bunkers have been bad for 2 years. Lots of rocks in them huge rocks and they do not drain at all. The fairways are in good shape usually especially at this time of year. The greens are usually kept on the slow side very rarely do the speed up to anything over 8 on a sttemp meter. but the greens are in very good shape nice and smooth but slow.

Staff is always fantastic...the resident pro is always helpful..the food and beverage manager makes fantastic food..best golf course food around..course is in great shape..greens are rolling nice..fairways are firm and fast..love this course..and fairly priced.

Ive been playing South Riding since it first opened and I always enjoy going back. The course is challenging but fair with and well maintained. It is a courses that I and my golf friends frequent several times a season. I highly recommend it.

South Riding is a premier golf course in an upscale community West of Dulles Airport. The facilities and staff are always courteous and the rates are great with room for 200 plus people to support any event.

This golf course sucks, the owner wanted to OPENLY SHOOT DEER THAT CAME ONTO THEIR COURSE. Staff is rude. Snacks and drinks are overpriced. And the bunkers are in horrible condition

Greens were aerated and no true putting to be had. Bunkers were and are a disaster. Pro says back is better than front. Not true.
