Weve always wanted to go to the Ice Castles and finally went this year. Overall, we enjoyed it! They were beautiful!! We didnt get to go on the big slide due to a long line, but there were 3 other amazing smaller slides that the kids absolutely loved and tunnels that were stunning. A couple of hints to make your experience more enjoyable: 1. Wear LOTS of warm clothing, including boots, gloves, hats and scarves. We also brought hand warmers, and we were still freezing. Granted, the temperature was in the low teens, but I thought I had brought enough warm clothing and was mistaken. Plan accordingly! 2. Next year we are planning on going an hour or so before dusk. When we got there, is was still light, but getting darker. We would have enjoyed seeing it in the day for 2 reasons- 1, it would have been warmer, and 2, it would have been much easier to see and navigate around. It was beautiful at night with the lights, but we both agreed we would have liked to spend the majority of our time during the day when we could see the ice castles and see where we were walking better. In the large opening areas, there wasnt much light, making navigation harder. 3. Pay VERY close attention to wear you park!!!! They had us park in the overflow parking lot, clear out by the main road, and we just followed all the crowds to the Ice Castles, thinking there would be obvious signs leading us back. But when we were done, there were very few signs posted along the way, especially toward the remote parking lot we had been directed to. We got hopelessly lost. It was a nightmare trying to get back, because all the Homestead Resort buildings make it like a maze. I dont want to take off a star because we really enjoyed the Ice Castles themselves, but it was frustrating to get so incredibly lost with 4 tired kids in the dark. We met at least 3 other parties that were also lost. We finally made it back after 20 minutes by asking for help at the Homestead and trying to explain where we had parked. Hopefully they can get more signs put up to help everyone get back to their cars quickly and safely. In the meantime, if you go, pay attention to where you park!

Quite enjoyable - we were there early in the season, on a weeknight (Wednesday 7:00 pm) so I expect this was a little less-busy, but a pretty good crowd nonetheless. We were directed to park in the overflow lot, and it wasnt very clear from there exactly where to walk to the entrance, but we soon figured out to follow the blue lights. I had our ticket electronically on my phone (thats definitely the way to purchase your tickets - online) and the check-in process went smoothly. As for the castles themselves - I must admit we were a tiny bit disappointed, mostly because it was so large (probably to accommodate more people) that it seemed really open, and we expected it to be somehow all closed in like caves of sorts. There were some of those, but mostly a large courtyard ringed by the castle structure. They WERE beautiful, and they WERE impressive - just a little different than we expected (this was our first time there). DO buy your tickets online (save $$), DO wear good winter snow boots, DO bring a little sled with a rope to pull around small children - the walking is hard because youre walking in/on about 6 inches of crushed ice/snow and a stroller wouldnt work. Expect it to be crowded. We spent a little more than an hour there, then got a little cold. Overall, we really enjoyed it. Definitely unique and beautiful. Nighttime was great - daytime would be less crowded and probably still very beautiful.

This is the second year we have attended the Ice Castles. Im very sad to say that this year was a huge dissappointment compared with last year. There were no parking lot attendants to help usher cars in and out, there were no signs showing where to go (we drove around the complex for 5 minutes before we found the right parking lot), there were not enough bathrooms (and they were so far away from the castles), the lack of people taking tickets blew me away. People were just walking in!!! Why did I pay $40 if no one was even checking who had paid! The area was bigger, which was nice, but they didnt have any cool tunnels or slot canyons like last year. And after waiting in line for 30 minutes to go down the slide, the attendant at the top was just sitting there, not helping children or giving instructions...so my friends daughter put her foot up on the ice slide and just slid down...didnt get to ride on the sled or anything! The group I was with did our best to have fun, but as a parent and an event coordinator, I was extremely appalled by the lack of organization of the Ice Castles this year.

We loved it! Amazed by some of the negative feedback? Seriously, where else can you go to see some thing like this? Beautiful at night with the lights. They play music from movies like , Ice Age and Frozen. Cute. Magical to walk around thru the tunnels. Plenty of open space. You have a 30 min Window for entry. I would not go at the beginning of your time, or you might have to wait a bit to get in. Thats when everyone shows up. Also parking was fine. They have attendants with glowing lights that guide you. Fair amount of signage directing you. We stayed about an hour with no kids. Dress like your going skiing. Seen many people freezing because they didnt dress appropriate. Wear good snow boots. We had no problem at all walking but seen others sliding around. You can get hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls or cookie in the Castle but bring cash. Otherwise you can use a card, and get some near the gift shop on the way out.

When we arrived, no one was there telling you where to go or what you needed to do. So we went to the ice castles entrance only to learn, we needed to turn around and go back to check in. It was very frustrating because we had to wait in lines all over again. As we were waiting again there were several people who had to go back like we did. There was no organization, and it seemed most employees didnt know what was going on. On a good note, Anna and Elsa were there and they were AMAZING! They spent time with my girls, and were so sweet to them. The ice castles were cool and they had ice slides that were fun for kids. But this year there were no ice caverns or ice caves like theyve had in the past. It was very open which accommodates a lot of people so I didnt feel to crowded. Overall it was fun, and we love to go. I just feel it should be run better with better communication.

It was our first time going. We took our kids for new years. We loved it. There was fireworks but those could have been a little more organized. Too many delays and couldnt tell when it was the end and no finale. And more places to sit. There were only 4 benches that were constantly occupied. We didnt have a place to sit and eat our cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. Maybe offer handwarmers at the concession stand or firepits to help warmup real quick without melting the ice. We came prepared in our snow gear but still ended up with frozen toes and fingers so i recommend wool socks. And some kids were riding their sleds down the kid ice slides which i felt was a bit dangerous because they would come shooting off almost taking out others standing nearby. But overall we loved it and was totally worth our money. Thank you. It was amazing.
