Im was born and raised in Laredo, but currently living just North of San Antonio. Ive been fortunate to have played on a good number of courses in and around the San Antonio area, including River Crossing, Sontera (South & North Courses), Silver Horn, Tapatio Springs, La Cantera (Resort & Palmer courses), Dominion, Fair Oaks, TPC (Oaks and Canyons), etc, etc..... Ive also played Laredos Cacablanca, and need I say more about that course. Ive played many good courses, and by comparison, the Max Mandel course is a top notch course. Its a beautiful course, and a challenging course, well thoughout and maintained. I hope they can keep it as beautiful after a few summers. I can not offer a honest appraisal regarding the quality of the staff, as my involvement with them was limited to purchasing a round of golf for myself and my guests. But suffice it to say that the staff I dealt with were friendly and courtious. In no way were they ever rude. I can only assume the people makin negative comments may (?) have been overly demanding or impolite. I can understand being upset with a cart break down, but hey, shyt happens. Personally, I find that if you treat people respectfully, you get back what you give. The resturant and pro-shop were not open when I last played, and were a week away from the Grand Opening. Would I play there again, absolutely. Would I recommend the Max Mandel course to a friend, absolutely. Would I choose Max Mandel course over Cacablanca, ABSOLUTELY!!!! (Amen brother!!) I will be playing with friends tomorrow morning and again on Saturday (Jan. 24th, and 25th); and if I find out anything different from my original experience, I will promptly post about it here. Respectfully, G.L. Leyendecker PS, I give 4 stars, because I havent tried the resturant or visited the fully furnished Pro Shop.

Played the course Thanksgiving week. Okay course conditions but having played Casa Blanca on several occasions (much worse conditions than Max Mandel) I would play there anytime over Max Mandel. Customer service goes a long way and it was terrible the day we played. Cart broke down on the course and took forever to get a new one to us. My father in law was griped at by one of the boys behind the counter and even though I do not work in retail I know this is totally uncalled for. I asked for the manager and was told everything would be taken care of and said she was busy at the moment. Absolutely not impressed at all with how we were treated and that shaped our entire day. Whoever runs this place needs to teach some common sense to its staff.

Oh Baby! Came down from Ohio on business and found this little gem! The Staff was so nice, the course was fun and challenging, and the price was outrageously low for the quality of golfing experience! Anyone who gives this course less than 4 Stars has an axe to grind, or is a double digit hack! Best course Ive been on in 3 years! Play it 5 times you have 5 different types of approaches to the greens with the undulating fairways. Greens were quick and true! Awesome experience!

Great course, Tough, forget about any balls knocked out of the fairways. They are gone. Hit my first hole in one today 8/15/2014 on Hole 12 from the blue tees, 133 yards with an 8 iron. I enjoy playing here staff is very friendly, and helpful.
