We were in the area for my nieces wedding last October and took some time on Saturday before the wedding to head into the hill country to visit a few wineries. Something about dry dusty Texas and wine just doesnt equate in my mind but we were very pleasantly surprised by the pleasant wineries and the quality of the wine. Of the 3 we visited, Duchman was our favorite. We opened a bottle of 2011 Vermentino tonight to go with our grilled fish (back in Ohio) and really enjoyed it. A smidgeon on the tart side, but thats part of the unique character of this wine which pairs well with seafood. Brought back good memories from the wedding weekend and our visit to Duchman. BTW, you Texans know how to do weddings. We had a blast at one of the ranches that does weddings. Beautiful setting, wonderful place and perfect weather. Only wedding Ive ever been to where I had to stop the car and wait for a few longhorns to mosey on past before I drove in.

Every part of our experience was better than the last! The staff was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable. Not only were they great at their jobs but they were fun to conversations with and really added to the fun atmosphere! We were traveling with a group of ten and every single person found at least one ( some of us four or five) wine that they absolutely loved. The wine was not only delicious but also very well priced. After our experience in the tap room we decided to have dinner. The food is delicious! Where as some of the hill country wineries offer little prepackaged snacks, Duchman has a full restaurant with bar. After a long day of wine tasting a few of us were pleasantly surprised to find a full bar with other options. The food was amazing. Not good for a the only place in the middle of nowhere good. It was genuinely delicious and would rival many of the Italian restaurants in the city. An over all fabulous experience!

Beautiful grounds, excellent ability to view the process with tours. For me, there wine is getting there, but that seems to be true of all wineries in Central Texas. The first time I visit them when they are young, the wine is so-so. As they age, their process improves and so does the wine. The real gem here is the restaurant. Trattoria Lisna is delicious! The pizzas and the risotto are amazing. Plus, if you tell them you dont want your children to bother the patrons inside, they will serve you at the playground! Thats a big win for my family. I wish I could review the Trattoria separately. It is a solid 6 stars in my opinion. I mean, fresh gelato - what more do I need to say!?

Went here with friends on recommendations from others. The facility and surrounding area are gorgeous. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Esposa and I each did a tasting, splitting evenly between the 11 wines. Unfortunately, we found a fair number these wines overly simplistic and not on par with other wines in the area. A fair number of our tastings went into the dump bucket. The better wines were approachable and offered some depth and complexity. This is a winery that well watch and likely return to, in hopes of better wines.

I wish I could say more about this vineyard, but everything Im remembering about the place has nothing to do with their wine, which I guess means that it didnt leave an impression with me. I do remember that the venue looked impressively enormous and that the staff were extremely friendly and inviting. The one advice I can give you is to put your name down on the waitlist at the adjacent Italian restaurant before you head off to the wine tasting. It gets extremely busy so trying a flight of wine will surely help pass the wait time.

It was a great atmosphere with lush vegetation, great outdoor seating and well kept grounds. The pizza served at the restaurant was great as well and worth the money. The only real negative came from the wine itself. Charging ten dollars for six tastings of semi good wine is ridiculous. Esp. When famous wineries around the world dont charge you at all. Maybe its just around Austin, but I wouldnt pay for tastings again unless its free or really top end.

You are greeted with beautiful buildings and scenery. The Vineyard is on the right, the restaurant on your left and the winery/tasting room is beside the restaurant. A wonderful place to have wine at the picnic tables and visit with friends. I thought the tasting room staff needed personality. The wines were ok, especially the reds. Temperanillo was my favorite.

The Duchman winery is beautiful- it has an open tasting room and restaurant close by. It is a bit strange that the restaurant wont allow you to bring in the Duchman wine but you can just take it home with you. There are tables outside to drink and snack but not snacks on site. You can always order food to go at the Italian restaurant next door though.

How we rate this place a good but that would be the best. The wine was expensive which sometimes is a good thing. But unfortunately the tasting we had of the wind presented were not that good. But then again everybody has a different taste. It was very busy with the wedding going on and the restaurant next door. I doubt we will go back to this 1.

Nice, relaxed Saturday afternoon/evening celebration under the oaks for my wifes aunt"s 94th birthday. Shes been a huge fan of Duchman wines and we sat at a picnic table listening to some great music, eating various appetizers, pizza and salad and enjoying bottles of Sangiovese and Vermentino.

Make reservations at Trattoria Lisina, and then come out an hour before hand to enjoy a bottle of wine from the winery with friends. The setting is beautiful, and their large grassy area with picnic tables makes for a wonderful evening to sit and enjoy the outdoors and friends.

This winery is very beautiful! Their on-site winery tours are well coordinated and their next door restaurant makes a great place for that special event. The outdoor scenery is very Tuscany-like. Property is very well kept and clean for photo shoots.

This place is magical! Out in Driftwood, you drive by the vineyard on your way to the main building. Doing tastings is pricier than buying a whole bottle, crazy! Gorgeous atmosphere outside, very whimsical. Right next door is Trittoria Lisina.

Redeemed my impression of Texas wine. Every red I tried I loved and beatific atmosphere with huge lawn for kids to run and play in. Great spot for a wedding, or other high class event. Very quiet compared to the other Texas wineries too!

Went on a wine tasting tour here and had the most wonderful time! The food here was spectacular and the wine was delicious. The grounds are beautiful as well. It is a bit of a drive from Austin, but it is very fun when you get there.

My favorite vineyard around Austin. Some of the most consistent good wines from the region come from here. Currently loving the aglianico. Good atmosphere to come and grab a bottle and chill out.

Great place for a wine outing. Lots of outdoor seating and fun games to play with the kids - corn hole, giant dominoes, etc. There is a great Italian restaurant next door to make a day out of it.
