One of the prettiest parks Ive seen. A particular potion of this park, waterside, with the trees, always reminds me (a little) of the Seurat painting with the proper folks dressed up to their necks in clothing, with parasols and all that sort of thing. But of course here we are, fat Americans, in t-shirts and shorts, eatin dogs and cacoila, and lemon squares and having a pretty good time ... except when the morons come driving by with their idiot music blasting. Nobody wants to hear your crappy hip-hop, nor your Beyonce nonsense. Just turn it down, or rather TURN IT OFF for crying out loud, and listen to the friggin sounds of nature! See, its because theres no RULE that says "No playing of loud music on this property. Violators will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned." If they had something like this, I could give this place 5 stars. Come one, its a good thing to do. You have such a wonderful park, but these unthinking people ruin it for others. And that goes for the folks who even play the sort of music that I enjoy. Keep it at home. Let us hear the sound of the surf, the sound of the wind in the trees, and of birds, and of kids running and laughing. Nix the electronic noise.

Absolutely astonishing views and plenty of places to picnic. This is the perfect place for a Sunday outing with the family!!! This was my first time there and I definitely would go again and I would tell all my friends and family. Its to bad Roger Williams Park zoo cant touch Colt State Park its worth the 33 minute drive. Roger Williams park is unkepted, most of the time grass is not mowed and another thing; Why are all of the museums closed. Opening day at Roger Williams Park Zoo was amazing they should have days like that, that would bring more guest and its all about advertising events, not just Halloween pumkiin carving after seeing that over and over it gets boring. Give the people what they want not just walk and see mabe if youre lucky an animal. Bring back the dancers and music thats just one of many off the top of my head. More ideas to follow. Lets bring our people back to providence, In order to do that you have to want it, then do somthing about it. Change is good and in your case its so badly needed.

“Working Families Park Paradise on Former Gilded Era Farm Estate” That Colt State Park is now a public park that welcomes all visitors to Samuel Colts palatial historic farmstead of hundreds of rolling acres of lawn with miles of bike paths and walking trails, a public beach, and boat launch is a revelation. Unlike Newport, where the Gold Coast celebrates the rich. Colt State Park shares the riches of open space for all on this DeWolf family descendants farm acquired to improve the breed of Jersey cows and prize sows paid for with banking consolidations and rubber industry innovations by Samuel Colt and his family. Now it is yours to picnic, fly a kite, bike, swim, boat, or just to relax in the shade while looking out across the horizon. Enter through the massive stone gates flanked by Jersey bulls, or through the farm road past the historic Coggeshall Farm. Both roads lead to paradise for working families.

Great place for kids! Basketball courts, tennis courts, hockey rink, baseball fields, soccer fields. Town beach with a small playground and volleyball nets. (Bring water socks....The town beach is full of sharp seashells and rocks!). There are bike/walking paths along the water and in the woods. A pier people fish from. There are a few excercise stations scattered around for (I believe) people in wheelchairs. There are picnic tables everywhere (there are some places you have to reserve these tables, check with the office). There is even an outdoor chapel area. Bathrooms are also scattered about the property. Great place to walk the dogs, or just simply take a walk yourself!

Beautiful park on the water but I cant give it 5 stars since there are no garbage cans/areas. You have to take your own garbage home. Very very spacious with so many picnic tables and so many areas to sit in. There are spots by the bay, by the pond, volleyball areas, small picnic shelters, and just so much room in general. Very nice for a walk/bike along the water or a day out with the family.

Every trip to Rhode Island has had me visit this park. Its simply huge and theres something to do for everyone whether its the small beach, checking out the water, walking or just enjoying the weather. Theres even attached a basketball court and other amenities. Coming from Georgia in a county that is known for parks, this is one of the best "family fun" parks there are!

This place is a not so well kept secret, but there are enough areas to warrant coming back several times to explore, and some spots are downright peaceful and remote. Plenty of space to bring a few friends and pets and have a picnic or family reunion. There are two beaches, a ton of wooded trails, a skatepark, a bike path and a great many hidden gems.

Beautiful breezy spot to spend a summer afternoon. Hosting something here is fun for a large group willing to bring BBQ supplies, games (corn hole; croquet; frisbee), and chairs. Umbrellas or those portable EZ-whatever tents make a solid addition for shade. If you are at all local, getting here via bike path is a fun option.

A hidden gem. The park is clean, cool and well kept. A great place for family or a quiet date. Its easy to find a spot away from the action if you want to get away, or you can be Im the middle of everything. Its also on the water, so its great for kite flying.

Early May 2013 Bristol, RI vacation Beautiful park. It was one of the last places we stopped at before leaving to head home. The view and quietness of the park made us not want to leave that section of Rhode Island.
