Absolutely wonderful venue. There were plenty of staff members and the security lines went quickly. We came to town to see a show at this venue and were concerned about parking. Fortunately there was a large and reasonably priced parking structure just across the street from the Music Hall. There is a snack counter in the venue serving pizza, and as an added bonus the whole place has a delectable pizza aroma. The venue is relatively small and there really didnt seem to be a bad vantage point as far as seeing the stage is concerned. It seemed to be primarily standing only. I saw a patron in a wheelchair so I believe they may be able to make some accommodations for handicapped persons if arranged ahead of time. I would not bring younger children here unless the show is particularly targeted for that age group, mostly due to the inebriated and college-aged crowds. All in all, great experience and Id love to see a show there again.

Venue was pretty similar (in layout) to a smaller House of Blues. Beer selection left A LOT to be desired. Ohio (and Columbus in general) have how many amazing craft brewers and all they carry is Columbus IPA and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in bottles? Sound was pretty good and the stage was beautiful. The concert itself was mostly awesome, but partly ruined by a VERY drunk couple that somehow kept being served by the staff. I think they need to pay way more attention and cut people off earlier rather than later so drunk people arent ruining the experience for everyone else who payed decent money for a show. Overall, decent place and if the right artist plays here Im all in.

Nice venue for live music. Pros: Good sound, multiple bars, smoking patio for those who smoke, good pizza on-site, multiple levels for good vantage points if you cannot get a spot up front, easy but expensive parking across street on OSU campus, many choices for pre- and post-show food and drink nearby. Cons: Very narrow stage means that unless youre one of the first ten people in line you wont be in front (very disappointing after waiting 4 hours in line), womens bathroom is upstairs, security disallows backpacks including purses that have two straps.

I have been to the Newport twice to see Josh Krajcik perform. This place is in much much needed repair and would be so AWESOME if it were fixed up!!! Hell I will even come paint for free, if they wanted to fix it up. I liked the fact they had a area for people with disabilities to sit. Staff was polite. Drinks and food reasonable priced. Their bathrooms are upstairs which is not good for people with disabilities... altho they did let me use the one downstairs (they had to unlock), but it is more a storage, catch all with a toilet and sink.

it was nice until my phone was stolen. i hope it wasnt any part of he staffs fault, i dont think they could have done anything to prevent it. but it definitely made me want to never bring anything into a concert ever again. the pizza smelt burnt and the drinks were small for too much money. the bathrooms were not as clean as they couldve been and there was no soap or paper towels. smoke pit is small and narrow. but the up op theater seating seems cool. having two floors to go back and forth through was nice.(-to the moon and back-)

A great venue if you wanna see great shows put on by great bands. At some shows though as goes with most venues watch out for the pit area when the crowd gets a little rowdy. Other than that, excellent ticketing and great bar. Also, the location of the venue is really convienient as it is across from a parking lot on the OSU Uni and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Love it and is well worth the 3 hour drive from Pittsburgh to see amazing bands and performers.

While the floor is seemingly permanently sticky from spilled drinks, everything else about the place is great for a concert. The bartender did NOT skimp on the booze in my drink. I also didnt mind the pat down and purse check for safety. The security took complaints of belligerent people seriously, getting into the crowd to remove them. You can see the stage from pretty much anywhere in the venue, which is great if you dont get there early.

The Newport is dark and dingy and almost falling apart. But its still a good place for a show. They do a good job of getting a great mix of artists. All shows are general admission, so you better get there early. The sound is actually pretty good considering how old the place is. The balcony can sometimes be less crowded and you can find a place to sit. The beer lines are not bad due to the multiple lines.

So my first time at the Newport was back in October for the time travel tour & i went with my friend. My mom and dad told me it was a cool place but it wasnt nice. But honestly i thought it was the coolest place ever ! Its so interesting, and its clean. I loved it, and everyone that works there is super friendly. I highly suggest going there for a concert, !

Theres plenty of history inside the walls of the longest continually running rock club in the country. Of course with that distinction comes age and the Newport is showing it on the inside and out. Still, its a great place to see a show and feels authentic and unpolished. The venue is also intimate while still being able to attract national artists.

This was my first time at this venue and it was great. When you walk in you feel like you are in a small place but once you walk through the large doors.... BAM! The place opens up with an area to purchase alcohol and pizza. There is a lot of room on the main floor as well as a upstairs with a balcony. I would defiantly go back and rock out!

(Very) limited bar, great staff, first proactive venue ive been to. To explain, prior to entering the venue, the staff Let guests know ahead of time how large bags could be, drink wristbands etc. While they were in line. Water was provided at no costs which was very much appreciated especially considering it was about 90°F

Newport Music Hall in Columbus .. first time ever going there. Granted the building is in much needed repair and remodeling. But it was pretty neat. Be awesome all fixed up. The security staff were very nice and helpful. They do need more seating areas, not everyone is able to stand the length of an entire concert.

Very small intimate venue. I saw Green Day here in September. It was an awesome show and the staff was wondering and handled getting the crowd checked in the building wonderfully in a manner that did not create mass chaos from people rushing to get through like there usually is at most other shows I have been to.

General manager is a nasty woman and doesnt know how to speak to her customers. Went for a big show and got thrown out cause my uncle bought our tickets in his name and said he had to go in and time and my friend couldnt. Rude as hell. Learn how to be a human and let people do something nice for someone else.

Great old school venue that gets some pretty amazing bands hosted. Small venue that gets you close to the bands with a great atmosphere that is second to none. If you visit the city, this is a must visit place at least once (if not more). Prices are great and staff are helpful compared to other places.
