What they dont tell you is that the Lazy Pirate is the one running the place. Decided to stop in for dinner on our last night in town. The option was to wait 45mins to an hour to be seated outside or inside, or you could order from the bar. We ordered from the bar and waited at "reserved" empty tables outside that no one had been seated at for almost 20 minutes. We watched and waited with other guests who had also paid in advance for their food at the bar. They had grown impatient as well. When I inquired about the multiple empty tables inside after waiting an hour for our food from the bar, I was told that it would still be another 20 - 30 minutes for a table inside. The staff did not seem pressed about seating people - at all. Even after the sun went down and the weather turned cold, they remained nonchalant about seating people. There were multiple empty tables inside when I asked about seating again. Still another 20+ minute wait. When we finally got our food from the bar, the wings were cold and the nachos were soggy. The jambalaya was unrecognizable, unsightly, and unimpressive, but the corn bread it came with was tasty... so they had that going for them... I guess. We asked for boxes and took it to-go. The food was "meh" at best. The music was cool. The vendors were pricey. The ambiance was laid back. I just wish the staff hadnt taken that same attitude with the service.

I like to save my reviews for places I highly recommend. Only when the experience is singularly horrendous, do I warn you away. Consider yourself warned. It was July 4, we were visiting family, and we wanted oysters. Busy day, so some of the favorite Carolina Beach spots may be packed. So we go into Lazy Pirate. Not packed. Oysters on the menu. Here we go. Ready to order: out of oysters. At 1:30 pm on a holiday. Well, we had ordered drinks, so perhaps some appetizers to tide us over til dinner. Waited forever for apps. Ordered wings. Well, of you consider lukewarm chicken over which some sauce was drizzled, not even covering the piece...if you consider that wings, then I suppose you would tolerate them. It seemed like maybe they were microwaved. This is not cooking. Even the teenagers didnt like them, and they are not discerning. The potato chip nachos were not terrible, but bring a microscope to find he pork promised on top of them. Crab dip, otherwise known as cheese with a hint of crab flavor, you can have it. The most disappointing meal of our so far two week 2,100 mile journey across America. I hope this helps you avoid the same mistake.

This place has killer food. Weve never been disappointed in anything we have eaten between burgers, appetizers, and what not. We were so excited to come to lazy pirate after having an amazing experience and wonderful service a couple of months ago. We came tonight solely for the crab dip and good service and Ryan with the Mohawk ruined it for us. He did not talk to us one single time. He got my bf a beer and that was it, someone else brought us our food and we were never spoken to again. We were so so disappointed. As a bartender who just moved here I expected more. They were busy but not that busy there were points he just walked right past us and never said a word. My boyfriend was asking him a question about the bands and he just walked away. Wishing the owner or someone else had been here to talk to and make our experience better. We give it one more try, and also my boyfriend and I would have stayed all night and spent a good amount of money but left after twenty minutes. 7/4/2016

Normally a very nice place to enjoy and relax but for some odd reason they really need to work on the hostess, they dont know how to run tables and would rather people walk out and take there business somewhere else, what a shame. If I ask the hostess a question on how long the wait is I should be able to have a good firm answer on time and not do there job for them. The manager is just as bad if not worse. I really feel bad for the owners with someone that has a very good place and business to throw it away with people that run it for them. Hope to see a better change next year but sorry wont be this year. One more thing I would really like to talk about the pets around the eating areas, this is a no go and will be checking on that with the health department. Im a pet owner more like a who farm but when I eat I only do it with my family and friends not pets thats why they have there own kind of food but the point is I dont want someone elses dog begging for my food.

The atmosphere is wonderfully laid back, the band Tyler McKaig was great, that is where the greatness stops. We were outside waited at least 30 minutes, no one came to take our order, we decided to go to the bar to get a drink and look at a menu to order, there was 2 very handsome but inattentive bordering rude bartenders. We got a couple of beers, looked over the menu and stood there staring at the bartenders again unable to get anyones attention to order food, we were there at least an hour before we able to order our food. When we did get our food we did not get the spicy garlic wings we ordered instead we were served boneless hot wings that were cold, again unable to get anyones attention to correct our order. VERY disappointed with the lack of service!!

Went on a vacation with family and friends. This "resturaunt" was the worst part. The food was expensive, trying to get a corn hole spot was impossible as kids would run around just throwing bean bags, and worst of all, one of my friends did not even get their food until everyones bill came out! She ordered the same thing as someone else at our table, and when she asked the waitress about it twice, the waitress got an agitated tone with her and did not even offer as much an apology when her food came out with everyones check, rather she said it wasnt her or the cooks fault! This was disappointing evening that we will not be revisiting again.

This place was so great we came back the next day just to try more. Sunday is live reggae festival. You can do table service or self serve at the bar. Drink specials were great and the drink were strong, the food was amazing. You can fill up on starters and Flatbread before you even get to the rest of the menu, and you should definitely get to the rest of the menu! The only fries Ive ever had in my life that you could eat later and they still tasted amazing. I cannot say how great this place was any more strongly. The decor and vibe are great, and if you stay at the drifters inn nearby you get 10% off!

This was our first time to Carolina Beach and we chose this place as our first dinner stop for a family of 5. The waitress was awesome, but the food wasnt any better than a Long John Silvers. The gouda bites and french fries were very good, but the burger, bacon wrapped shrimp, and fish fingers were just ok. My son didnt touch his little cheese pizza from the kids menu. Definitely not worth the $55+ bill...we spent $70 here because the waitress was every bit deserving of a 20-25% tip! Not her fault the food is not that great. Our family will not be back.
