If you ever wanted to know what happened to those DIRTY DANCING era resorts nestled in the Catskills that didn’t have to decency to close down when their era was over, keep reading this review of THE HUDSON VALLEY RESORT AND SPA aka the Granit. Clearly NOTHING has been done to this hotel since the seventies, if then. The carpets are threadbare, the sheets and bedspreads have a feel of having touched too many bodies, furniture in the room may be non-existent (not every room has a desk) or broken (my room’s dresser was missing a handle), or absent (a member of my party had to call to have a phone and TV remote brought into the room). The locks on the doors are not the strongest, and that is particularly disturbing since my room had an outdoor patio and someone could have easily pushed that door in. The bathrooms are another matter altogether. They too, are ancient, cramped, and depending on the time day will lack hot water in the shower. ALL the time there is little water pressure in the shower. The shower curtains my room had mildew on it, and the walls had dents and other unidentifiable marks in them. This went for the walls in the bedroom part as well. While I did not take advantage of the amenities offered (I was quite frankly afraid to given what I have described above), the one amenity I counted on, the free Wi-Fi was spotty at best in public areas and non-existent in the rooms. The only decent thing about this hotel is its staff. They were quite nice and courteous when they could be found. They were present at all times at the front desk, but barely seen elsewhere. At breakfasts and other meals the staff would try to clean up and shut down the service a half-hour to hour BEFORE the meal service was scheduled to end. There was a complimentary bottle of wine in the room the weekend I was there, but I suspect that was so guests could drink away the misery of staying there. Sadly, (and I do mean this since there are very few other accommodations in the area), this place should be avoided.

This place is awful. When my wife and I entered the room, we were greeted by a few lady bugs on the walls and five flies, a few more already dead on the ground near the window, some stuck in cobwebs in the corner of the window frames. The wallpaper was starting to peel off, the ceiling had signs of water damage and the walls had drill holes which were never filled after a painting or something was moved. we were as tired as we were disappointed in the room so decided to crash there after killing off the flies. we left early the next morning to enjoy the outdoors and were greeted by about half dozen more flies when we returned. We went to the desk to request another room and when I told them about the fly problem, I was told that it is pretty much to be expected when unseasonably warm weather hits. Great explanation as to how the flies get into the room and all. Anyway, we carry our luggage to a new room, and as soon as we enter we see about five more flies on the window, the same cobwebs with dead flies in the window frame corners and more dead flies on the ground. Curtains/valences with stains, more drilled holes in the wall, more peeling wall paper and this room graced us with knocking water pipes in the walls. Id rather sleep in a tent on a rock. Dont give this place your money.

This place was disgusting. From the moment we arrived and opened the front doors the assault to our senses began. The carpets in the main lobby were badly stained and the stench in the air was gross. My husband and I had driven very far and decided to check in despite our misgivings. The hotel deck clerk was very pleasant the room was NOT! The wall paper was stained and peeling, the bed had sunken areas showing its age, the carpet was torn in several areas, the TV was an old tube TV that did not appear to be in working order, the smoke detector was yellow from age, the sofa bed had a section of wood sticking out from where it had been shoved under the cushion to hold it up, the view from the cloudy glass window was a big blue tarp covering the other half of the buildings roof (apparently a leak) and as if that wasn’t enough there was a nice narrative penned by Maria in 2012 describing her lust for other women in the back of the hotel guide on the deck. This is so sad that they would try and portray this property as something it CLEARLY is not and to charge $200.00 a night for it. Outrageous!!!

I just returned from a November Ballroom Weekend at Hudson Valley. In short, this isnt a "horrible" place - but it needs a lot of work and the food is not very good. The brochure said the resort was recently remodeled? Maybe so, but the rooms in the "Elms" section were cold and very moldy smelling. The heaters were noisy and need to be replaced or repaired. Yes, the bathroom was newer, however, the bathroom window was broken and covered with plastic and duct tape. Most of the bathtub caulking was cracked had huge gaps that let in cold air. Also, the wallpaper in the bedroom was peeling off the wall - must be a water problem? There were lots of flies on the window each morning - some dead and some alive. Because it was a dance weekend, I only stayed in the room to sleep and shower and so I didnt make a big deal of it. However, when you go on "vacation", its supposed to be, at least, as nice as home? NOT! I will go back only because the dance event is hosted here, which was very nice, however, if youre looking for a vacation, look elsewhere.

Theres alot of flaws. Its VERY VERY OLD.The game room is from isnt even updated they have games from the 90s and 80s . The room it self had ripped rug and bad furniture. Little to No security. So bad random people are able to walk in the hotel any time they want an join tge activities with in the hotel. THE WORK OUT ROOM IS HORRIBLE!! DO NOT GO THERE. THEY LITERALLY HAVE OUTDATED EQUIPMENT. so bad i almost messed up my knee in there old ass treadmill. The food is good but they serve to much fattying food that by dinner you can barley eat anything. The measurements of the pool is not corret is says five feet but its not i say 6 feet. The lobby and the spa was the only good part of it . Nothing but old people working here while the young people are servers and the so called "gift shop was wack" everything has tax on it so PLEASE DONT COME HERE FOR YOUR SENIOR TRIP AS A SENIOR CLASS OF 2016 THIS HOTEL WAS HORRIBLE. We all had to make the best of it. I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE
