Its a small park and nice to have, but really isnt much too it besides the views of lower Manhattan since its on a hill. Has a basketball court, handball and public outdoor swimming pool. It is easily crowded and noisy on the weekends and summer early evenings, being small and a neighborhood park. I wish the neighborhood took more pride in this park and kept it cleaner. Tons of garbage and plastic bags, bottles and trash left everywhere and no one seems to pick up after themselves and the grass needs more tending too and the landscaping could be better cared for by the Parks Department and or neighborhood/schools/garden community. With that said it is however a diverse mix of Spanish and Chinese which gives it a unique cultural experience. You have the evening Tai Chi and Chinese line exercises which is great to watch and makes you think youve traveled to another part of the world and the park itself, is very family oriented with young and old enjoying it. It does keep to its name sake "Sunset Park" offering beautiful sunset views. With the diversity, there is plenty of eats around and cheap stores and fruit stands. I wouldnt dismiss going outdoors and enjoying the park, just would be great to keep it cleaner and have more thoughtful people pick up after themselves from a picnic, hence 4 stars.

Its a really great place to play ride your bike/ skateboard and also there is a gym, pool and a basketball court. Beside they have basketball, swimming, Ping pong classes! Also to get to the basketball course. Also there are 2 basketball courses one on the Sunset park play Center and one next to the football course. The Childs playground construction its almost done. So be ready to enjoy the kids area!. In fact the place has fun activities. Asian people DANCE to songs so If you like dancing this is your chance! But if Dancing is not youre thing... Then You could try The football fieId its free all ways, It has a lot of space, and its open 24/7 (24 hours 7 days). You could meet friends in the football field, Basketball and also in the group of the Asian people who DANCE. On the 5th avennue there is a little seazers so you could buy pizza and eat it on the bark to appreciate the beautiful view. They have activities for the Holydays (Egg collecting, summer swimming classes, Basketball competition just to name a few). So coming here is worth it! Give it a chance to come!

Grew up here, this park has done major improvements. Its much safer now but the neighborhood has changed drastically in other ways. Its over populated and theres a limit on international food shopping as now the markets or stores are all inspired by one culture and not much American or Latino products are available. This has forced a lot of the Italian Americans and Latinos left in that neighborhood to travel further out to try and find items they were accustomed to buy. Rent has reached an all time high there while its still cheaper than Manhattan and you get all the major train lines there, again because of over population, commuting to work and parking are a nightmare.

This park is the namesake of the neighborhood and one of its best features. Views are gorgeous virtually any time of day, but I dont need to tell you when theyll be extra special ;) The park features an outdoor pool, volleyball and basketball courts, soccer turf and ample lawn space. Its on a hill (how could you have ever guessed!) so keep that in mind when you pick your shoes for the day. The park is close to some of the best eats in Brooklyns Chinatown, including dumplings and pho that are out of this world. I personally love to bike here on my long treks through the borough. Its also a great date spot for obvious reasons.

Fantastic park in all seasons! This is one of the first places we take friends visiting from out of town for the awesome views it affords of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Its very impressive. Its quiet and has a good sledding hill in the winter and nice place to hang out in the summer. No one ever comes around checking what you are eating or drinking. The summers can get SUPER crowded though, and the music/soccer/giant family picnics can get pretty annoying. But, most times were able to find a spot to relax.

This park occupies four city blocks. Its a plateau so it has really great views of the Manhattan and New Jersey skylines. There are hand ball courts, soccer fields, basketball fields, volley ball fields, outdoor swimming pool, and even an indoor weight room and ping pong tables!!! There is a fenced doggie park too! And there is an outdoor electric charging station. It can get crowded and it might be hard to find shade. But its very diverse and a great place to hang out if you live in the area.

Thats the problem I have: my dog pull me, push me and cry for me to taking there; so I taking to a section that is blocked by a fence from the main park, let my dog free to run and he turns into a rocket running up and down, turning himself over, rolling over and jumping to get some tree branches then hanging there as a christmas tree light for over a minute. People look at him and take pictures of that. Its a Pitbull, very amicable, friendly, nice and lovely with kids and adults.

Awesome park and neighborhood its nice and reserved and diverse with no gentrification...yet *facepalm* but its a great park with great views, areas of interest around it, and activities (PS: Be careful at certain times like the dark or crowded afternoon sometimes disputes occur and police as close as theyre are kinda slow and close-minded and Sunset Park at those times and overall is quiet so obviously like anywhere else be careful)

I grew up in this Park and watched the change from my father and his friends playing salsa till 2 to 3am in the park then gangs later on then that stopped and the park became safe again now its still nice but most of the Puerto Rican are gone. The view from the top of the hill is beautiful with a INCREDIBLE I mean INCREDIBLE view of the city. I was always told the hill was the highest NATURAL POINT in Brooklyn

An absolutely fantastic park! There is a great view, a huge swimming pool, a water spray area, a (soon to be) awesome playground, nice open fields, courts for basketball/soccer/etc, a track, a rec center, and a ton of events. I moved to this area because it was less expensive than my previous neighborhood and now I dont want to leave, partly due to the awesomeness of this park.

Ive been there multiple points, but was most recently there to watch short films. The movie was terrible, but this may be the best outdoor movie location in the city. The skyline and the statue of liberty provides a fantastic backdrop, and the downhill slope of the park serves as stadium seating. Fun fact: Highest ground in Brooklyn, not counting the cemetery.

Crap place but gets the job done, Old equipment in weight room and its pretty small, no bench just smith machine and dumbbells, gets a bit crowed with 3 treadmills and a couple of other cardio machines, a lot of ping pong tables, one pool table, no gender lockers, normal size bball court, pool out side only open in the summer, and need a small towel to get in
