This park was easy to get to using public transportation and worth the visit. Ive heard parking can be a pain though. I would recommend going during the blooming of the Cherry blossoms! I got to see a group of retired looking Italian guys playing a bocce ball game just outside the Cherry Blossom visitor center and this was highly entertaining. No food options are available so take your own picnic. They have an annual festival that includes a trolley tour but I missed that. :( While youre there visit the nearby Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, its only one block east of the bottom edge of the park and is a beautiful sight.

Deer, Red Hawks, Ground Hogs, Trout, Bass, Catfish, Turtles, Ducks, Geese, Squirrels Joggers, Bikers, Skaters, Gym & Military Members are all here...smiling. Come for the Fireworks, stay for a Movie invite a friend to walk between the Cherry Blossoms. Watch Cricket and Soccer ALL day. Everyone on the 2 mile challenge looks after each other. Thanks to the Heller & Ballentine Family, those who donated benches and upgraded the turf, installed equipment and created disability access. You can truly heal here..all day and relive your youth. Best kept secret ever.

This park is a hidden treasure. Its one of the best parks close to Jersey City and boast of an amazing cherry tree collection. We went there this time for cherry blossom and had a wonderful time. Lush green spaces and roads which run through park make the access extremely easy. The scenic bridge and view of Newark from the park makes it all the more better. I definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a quick break on a weekend as a picnic or as a stroll in the park

This is the best part of Bloomfield/Newark area in terms for me. I use this park for my daily commute and avoid the crazy traffic of Bloomfield avenue and North Newark area for the most part. The collection of trees, the lake, the roads and all the aspects compete each other to grab your attention. It feels like you are driving through a national park.

There are many cherry trees but unfortunately many of them are not so tall yet. You can find big and beautiful ones though. Looking at maps, the park looks long and narrow but with a road in it. In this road, many cars are parked or passing on weekend. To take good photos without any car in the background, you should do that within limited angles.

Been here last week.Theres few people ,so theres a lot of spot to park. (its Holy Week remember) Disappointed, cherry blossoms are gone. Anyway me and my husband stroll from the Cathedral down to the Lake and around the Park. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time. Amazing Park not to take photos! Sorry, pictures are not upload yet!

The famed Cherry Blossom Festival is the most obvious reason to visit. The Cherry Blossom Center has a small parking lot that is always full during the spring. Accessible also via Light Rail. Walk up the ramp and turn left to get to the park. The surrounding area is super dicey, but I havent seen any hobos inside the park itself.

One of the largest and nicest parks in northern NJ. Famous for cherry blossoms in the spring, this park has biking and walking trails, tennis courts, childrens play areas, ball fields, and festival spaces. Its large enough and dense enough with foliage that you can truly escape and forget that you are in the middle of Newark.

The park is a grand and amazing oasis, nine miles of open spaces, playgrounds, trails, and beautiful trees. The home of the largest collection of cherry blossoms outside of Japan, it is an annual treat and the marker of the start of spring when these grand imports turn loose their blooms and open themselves to the April sun.

Wunderschöer Park. Empfehlenswert. Ausergewöhlich für uns, da der Park mit dem Auto befahrbar ist und nicht wirklich autofrei ist. Grosser Park

OMG it is beautiful and with the addition of 1000 more trees i cant believe what it will be like . My parents took took me there as a small child, then they took my children and now im taking my grandchildren. We all enjoy the park and take a picture every year in the same tree , each generation.

Good place for playing baseball, the best! Also basketball and football. Dont forget to bring your blanket to sit in the floor and enjoy a wonderful afternoon at the park with the family. Its also an amazing park for riding your bike and running, in general all kind of exercise. I love it!

I mean its good ol branch brook park. For those newark outsiders , the Essex County sheriffs keep it decently guarded so no worries. With that just dont stay out wayyyy too late. The park is massive with tons to do though , including baseball fields , fishing areas , a roller skating rink.

This is a oasis in the middle of... well... newark. Its a lovely park but can get crowded and loud. Its most known for its cherry blossoms, but beware it draws an even bigger crowd than usual. if you visit here you must also visit the basilica, which you cant not notice from the park.

Not even an ordinary park forget extraordinay. Visited in Mid April 2017, there were not even a single cherry tree blossoming as it is claimed.. ponds are dirty, weather was humid, parking on streets is horrible, better park inside near the visiting center..

I went to the roller rink at Branch Brook Park. I absolutely love it. From the amount of parking to the size of the roller rink itself. Its all just amazing. If I could give 10 stars based of my experience everytime I am in the area I would. Love it!!!

We chose the perfect weekend to visit their five thousand cherry trees All In Cherry Trees were in bloom. There is a nice drive through the park, but to get the full effect, you really should take a walk through the gardens and the groves of trees.

Although the park could be better maintained and felt less lacking, the cherry blossoms are beautiful with many other sights to see and take pictures. I went cycling in the park, and the trails here, although short, bring you to tons of epic places.

This is the most beautiful park in our area. Make sure you visit during the spring( April )to see the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom. It is breath taking. There are also festivals and events that go on around the same time.

Beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing in the morning. Lovely in April and May when the Cherry Blossom trees bloom. Lots of visitors during that time so it does become over crowded but its great to see so many people. I love it!

Nice expansive park in the heart of Newark. Its not well maintained however; the grass is patchy and the lake is currently filled with algea. Its free though, and definitely worth checking out if youre in Newark for the day.
