I was married July 2, 2016 at Black Bear Golf Course. It just seems like everything went wrong. It stated out with the hotel that was recommend losing all of our reservations two weeks prior to the event. Good thing my sister in law called to change her mothers reservation. We would not have know. Putting the hotel issues aside, I went into the event with nothing put positive vibes. I mean it was my wedding. day. I was taking pictures, and hearing that the vans came early and most of my guest missed them. So my mother runs, and takes care of it. Everybody arrive, and it is time to start the ceremony. Ceremony goes great, as does cocktail hour. Now starts the issues. My husband goes to the bar to order a drink, and is told that we cant have the alcohol he requested. It wasnt anything crazy. We ordered the upgraded luxury liquor, she finally gave it to him. Overall, the bar tenders were great! Okay, at this point I dont realize there is an issue. Now its time for dinner, and I see my mother, and sister in law speaking to the maître d. The maître d comes up to me, and tells me people are sending back the Cornish game hen, because of a pink vein. Not true! The hen was so under cooked you couldnt eat it. I had at least 10 people out of 33 ordered complain. My aunt who is a chef told me how bad it was after the wedding. The filet mignon was great. My reception was supposed to go from 7-11. I found that my wedding day was a blur, and didnt even realized what was going on. My husband came to me, and said why isnt the band playing it is about 9:30? So I walked over to my mother and father, and see them arguing with the maître d. I find out that it is approaching 10 pm, and people still have not been served their meals. Because dinner has not been served, the maître d wound not let the band play. All they had was dinner music going. They didnt want people dancing while they were serving dinner. I understand that, but then they need to have dinner our by 8:30 pm at the latest. Now here is my biggest issue. At 10pm my grandparents who are in their late eights didnt have their food yet. They had to leave because it was just a long day for them. My mother had to go into the kitchen, and get them takeout. I was so embarrassed. The worst part is it was my grandparents 65 Wedding Anniversary (thats why I choose the day) I had a special song planned to sing for them, that I was unable to do so because of how bad the service was. It just ruined all the timing. My grandmother spent $3,000, and months planning for my wedding cake. She didnt get to try it because it was served at 11pm. After complaining they let us stay until 12pm, but by that point 1/2 of my guests had to leave, because they have children at home. Black Bear really ruined my day. I try not to focus on it, because who wants to remember their wedding like that. Had it not been for my family, and friends it would have been much worse. I was crying outside. Black Bear really dropped the ball on my special day. :( However, we made the best of it. Ladies, please think long and hard about where you have your wedding. It is supposed to be a special day, I dont want anyone to have a bad experience like I did.

Went to Black Bear for a vacation and mostly everything I experienced was 5 star. The golfing was great. Done some skeet shooting for the 1st time and found out that my son was as good of a shot as I am. They have a glow ball put put course right outside the hotel. The pool is awesome with hot tubs included. That gaming area and basketball court is tops. Plenty plenty to do. There restaurant called Kites and if you want to eat there you need to have reservations to eat so you will be turned away to book for a later time if available. The food tasted great BUT it took OVER AN HOUR to get our food. The wait was so terrible but the waitress was so so nice. You can try you luck at Kites but im good.

Played Black Bear on Sunday 8/11/13 after finding an online special of $59.00 due to the "aeration" of the greens. These greens were destroyed, they were unplayable and golfers should have been made aware of this. Disgraceful act by Crystal Springs. The $59.00 special was not special at all, it was a ripoff

The food was not good. The cocktail hour was ok but dinner was lacking. My husband asked for a white zinfandel glass of wine and the bar maid couldnt find any at the bar, said she would return with it and we never saw her again. Later we were told by a different bartender there wasnt any !?

. THE COURSE IS REALLY NICE. STAFF IS EXCELENT, GREAT PRO SHOP, BAR IS GOOD. ONLY PROBLEM THE 3 TIMES IVE BEEN THERE IT TOOK ABOUT 6HRS. PACE OF PLAY VERY SLOW. O-YEAH WATCH OUT FOR THE BEAR POOP.

Very underrated golf course in Northern New Jersey. Always in nice shape and is very easy on the wallet. Varied layout that is up and down and left and right. Beautiful scenery!!

Course in great condition, nice scenery, varied holes, wonderful recreational golf. Fully equipped pro-shop. Clubhouse needs a little renovation, food and drink was alright.
