Small fee to climb the lighthouse but its the best view around. The small museum is free and they offer good insight to local history and the animals of the local ecosystem. The park offers loads of hikes and birds watching events if you check their website. There are some lawn areas where you can picnic but youll want to bring your own shade. The beach is easily accessible from the parking lot but its a good distance to the water. Nice beach for sun and getting in the water. There are several trails through the wetlands and those have plenty of shaded areas, but as they get close to the beach, theres no cover. The trail has long sections of elevated boardwalks wide enough for a wheelchair in the wettest places so you can walk most of them even after a rain. No ramps further in though. There are lots of sandy areas that can be a bit soft and are fine to walk but arent really wheelchair friendly. The trails allow access to the beach at both ends. But the beach can be a looooong walk through the soft sand to the parking lot if you get out at the far end of the trail, especially if you have little ones. If you want the beach, better to use the access right at the parking lot. There are restrooms (buildings, not port-a-johnnys) and water fountains by the lighthouse parking lot too. No fountains or bathrooms in the trails though.

Cape May State Park has something for everyone, as long as everyone is interested in nature, birds, beaches, or lighthouses. The park centers around the lighthouse, which is essentially the prototype for exactly what a lighthouse should look like. There is also access to the beach here and an old bunker on the shore. Further in is the trail which winds around several ponds and marshes where lots of birds can be found. There is even a platform for birdwatching and boy does it get popular. The trails are nice as well as they are boardwalk which make for easy stroller access. The park is a great way to experience the natural beauty of Cape May and the shore.

Very dissatisfied the lighthouse closed at five pm on a Saturday there was about. 12 of us wanting to walk to the top at 5oclock the worker said that they had to close because they were not busy and didnt have staff but come back The next day were talking the 2nd weekend in June 3 hours from sunset at sunset Beach which attracts hundreds of people some of whom stopped on there way like myself to see the lighthouse first

The staff are delightful and especially interested in children enjoying and understanding the importance of both the lighthouse and their own behavior inside of it! My grandchildren commented that it was interesting that there were so many "Pop-pops" working there. Dont forget to check out the grounds around the lighthouse... beautiful setting, great beach not do much for swimming but great for continplating.

This is a lovely spot to visit if you happen to be down in Cape May. The Lighthouse itself is nice - you can climb to the top for about $8 per adult. Its a bit of a hike up a winding narrow staircase but there are alcoves by the window explain Cape May history and the view at the top is terrific. There is a small museum and nature center at the bottom which is nicely done and explains some history of Cape May.

One of my if not my favorite state park in the country. The place is an absolute gem for South Jersey, with beautiful beaches and a lighthouse that is both historic and deep in aesthetic. Recommend taking the small hikes along the well kept up trails around the area. Great for bird watching as well being one of the finest places in the country for it!

Climb the lighthouse, its a nice view at the top. If you like birding its a migratory route. Right off the point on the bay side is Higbee beach wildlife management area. This stretch of beach is undeveloped and a nice walk for shell collecting. Its also strewn with an interesting collection of driftwood.

Great place for a day out. A lot of fresh air. Great beach for tanning. Trails for all. Visit the light house. The views are breath taking. And great sea food board walk is about 15 minutes away (ask the locals for the name). Dont go for the ship wreck (you cant really see much of it).

Enjoyed the light house. A must if you enjoy history. Loved the view from the top. Just remember to wear good shoes as the steps are open grate style cast iron. It is windy at the top, so hold on to your things. The rest of the park, from the beach to the raptor platforms as nice.

This a great clean beach they are a no swim beach but they let you in to you knees to get wet no deeper due to no life gaurds and strong currents... They have great trails to walk and a nature center ... Patrolers are very nice and honest what they tell you is for your safety !

This is a family-friendly attraction. There are things to do for many different interests. There are several walking trails and bird observation decks. There is a great view of Cape May from the top of the lighthouse. It has a small museum and gift shop, also.

Amazing place to visit. Dragonflies EVERYWHERE! I loved it, and I learned a thing or two about New Jerseys wetlands and what resides there (as well as history of the lighthouse, which has a marvellous view.) Cost us $8 to go up though. Worth it, in my opinion :)

Amazing park with a variety of things to do. From the trails to the beach to the light house and historic bunker. Especially great to visit during bird migration season. Check out the hawk watch platform in the fall to see lots of different birds of prey.

Definitely worth the stop. We were skeptical about spending the $8 to go to the top but its absolutely worth it. Probably best that those with health issues refrain from the attempt, as the stairs are numerous & the exposure at the top can be striking.

A great place for walks, birdwatching, photography, and an all around great place to experience and truly enjoy nature!! Well-maintained paths include boardwalks. If you can make it up to the top of the lighthouse, the views are awe-inspiring!!

Beautiful historic lighthouse of Cape May. $8 to climb the lighthouse. There is a gift shop, museum and public restrooms. This is a carry-in carry-out park so there arent any trash cans. The beach is a walk away. No pets allowed on beach.

The park and the beach is very nice. It would be nice to have trashcans available here and there. Maps with interesting facts and points would add more to the point. Overall, I had a good time getting taking a nap under my beach umbrella.

All you could ask for. 100+ yard deep guarded beach, Light house, Information center, Wildlife refuge, bird watching, Hiking, etc. The grounds are beautifully kept and being a state park there are no Cape May beach tags required!

Great view of CM Point, not terrible to climb, nice breeze. A little crowded during busy season and you may need to let others by, but thats okay... Id rather preserve it the way it is than ruin it to get more traffic.
