June 16, 2015 I saw a movie that I absolutely loved at the Somerville Theatre-I saw "Love and Mercy"- a tribute to musical genius Brian Wilson. As I waited for the movie to begin, I sat downstairs in the Museum of Bad Art. Boy- was that a relief, AFTER THE VERY STRESSFUL DAY I HAD at a nursing home. Long story short, prior to finding the theatre, Id like to say with full authority that both Love and Mercy were in very short supply. Yet, the purpose of my missive is to review The Museum- not to offer my personal biography. So, its back to the current exhibit. The theme is a religious one. A particular piece grabbed my attention. Specifically, its titled "Altar Ego". I found both the painting and the paintings description very interesting. In fact, I sat directly across from it as I waited for the movie to start. Now there was a coincidence-and-then-some- especially coming "on the heels" of the horrid day I had at a local Catholic nursing home. Kudos to both the curator and fans of "bad art" everywhere!

We went to this museum thinking it would be something unique and interesting, but we were wrong. It was very disappointing. First of all it was very hard to find. The "museum" is a basement room next to the bathroom of a run down movie theater. They only had about 7 pieces of "art" all of which just look like they were just taken from an elementary or middle school art show. I think it would have been more interesting and funny if they were actual paintings that were created by adults who thought thier work was good. Save your time and money and give a 7-year-old a set of paints and let them create something. You will get the same result while saving your gas and precious time.

Ive been to MOBA 4 times, once to Dedham and 3 times to Somerville. I laugh so much at the art and the descriptions I leave with tears in my eyes and my asthma has kicked in. I have brought friends there and they feel the same. Love it!!!

Its a funny place. Nothing huge but a good stop in after an early event or movie at the theater.
