I was shocked to realize that I live only 15 minutes from this gem of a vineyard! My book club decided to celebrate birthdays with a tasting at Thanksgiving Farm Winery and we were treated like family as we sat in their well appointed tasting room and learned about their farm, their wine making process, and the property. I was amazed by how much I loved their wines. I especially enjoyed the Rose, Franc Blanc, and 2010 Meritage. This is definitely a fun place to bring your friends on a Sunday afternoon. Pack a picnic to enjoy at their umbrella tables after your tasting and if your group collectively buys 1/2 a case or case they will give everyone the discount for the bulk purchase. (It wasnt hard to want to buy half a case on my own!) Although I was sad to leave Thanksgiving farm winery, Ill be taking the fun memories with me, and I look forward to enjoying the Franc Blanc and Rose on these hot summer days!

Thanksgiving Farms produces excellent wines. The Meritage is consistently excellent and the Franc Blanc is excellent as well (I usually dont care for white wines). I buy by the case when Im there since I come from NJ. A colleague of mine from Annapolis told me about their wine when I was in Annapolis. All the wines are estate grown and bottled. You can see the entire operation from the tasting room. In addition, the proprietors extend their hospitality as if you were in their home, well you kind of are. Their restored farmhouse is adjacent to the winery. The tasting room is very well furnished and intimate. The farm is one of the most tranquil places Ive been. Dont just believe me, see the review from the Virginia Grape on Facebook. Highly recommended. Check their website for hours when they are open. Being sole proprietors they may have other vineyard activities. They update times frequently.

My daughter and I had the pleasure of spending several hours at Thanksgiving Farm this month where we sat on Douglas and Maureen s porch overlooking their vineyards (the outside tables were fully occupied) and sampled a number of memorable wines. We had a white Merlot for the first time and found it delightful. A couple of Meritage wines from different years surprised us with how flavorful they were considering the Maryland climate. Douglas will eagerly answer all of your questions about grape growing and harvesting, fermentation, bottling, and how rainfall impacts the body of the wines. We were told we could bring our well behaved Schnoodle next time if we sit outside. You may also bring a picnic lunch to enjoy. Definitely a place to consider for a weekend excursion. Douglas and Maureen are wonderful hosts and so knowledgeable about everything you want to know about their wines.

I had heard good things about Thanksgiving Farm and decided to visit when I was passing through the area. The grapes are grown on site, and the wine is produced and bottled on the property. You get to see the entire process from start to finish. I got to taste out of a few barrels and learned about French Oak vs. other types. We visited the vineyards, barrel aging room, fermentation areas, and tasting room. The historic grounds, and the tasting room, were beautiful and provided a great setting to enjoy the wine. The ambiance is amazing. The proprietors are very knowledgeable and were able to answer all of our questions. Their Franc Blanc is a very interesting white. It’s also an option to bring your own food which is very nice. I will be visiting again the next time I am in the area!

Definitely worth the trip (although we live fairly close). Doug and Maureen are as sincere in their love of growing grapes and crafting wines as they are in their hospitality in the tasting room and in visiting with their guests. Ive been there on several occasions with different groups of people. All of "my" guests have enjoyed it as much as I have and plan to return in the future. Oh, I need to mention that the wines are good! Very good. Be sure to do the tasting. Then enjoy a bottle or glass of your favorite wine while snacking or lunching at their outdoor tables. A perfect way to spend an afternoon.

The best winery in Maryland, probably Anne Arundel Countys best kept secret. The wine is incredible French style dry reds. The tasting room and grounds are immaculate and Douglas and Maureen always make you feel like family.
