We went right after they opened and it was very disappointing. I figured Primo was worth a second try and recommended Primo for a birthday dinner with a few friends. I guess we wont be back. Dear chef, when you make an artichoke dip you remove the inedible parts of the artichoke- it is unpleasant to eat spiny leaves on toast (even if the sauce is tasty), beet salads should contain beets, if they are going to consist of oranges, lettuce and goat cheese please name accordingly. On the positive side, I did get to take home two filets because I love rare steak and the two folks who ordered them medium dont like blood (the filet...not bad but Ive certainly had better). One steak was amazing, though. The rest food was ... okay. Nothing special but nothing really to complain about. Sides were reasonably disappointing. For the price, I expect more. Id much rather go to Inovasi, have the amazing tasting menu for $54 per person and be wowed or to TGIFridays where I expect fair to middlin And really, not even a little piece of birthday cake with a candle or something for the birthday girls?

We visited Primo for the first time this week not knowing what to expect. Some of our friends just love it here and some not so much. With inconsistent opinions its tough to gauge. The atmosphere and decor are warm and inviting and staff was cordial. Team service seems to work although when i dropped my girl no one came to pick it up and offer a new one. I had to ask. My husband had a craft beer, a plus and I opted for the Sazerac which was a bit too sweet but decent. The complementary bread sticks are delicious and went well with our first course, the octopus salad. This dish is super tasty and made both of us smile. We where however super disappointed with our $50 steak for 2. It was sirloin which we ordered medium rare. It came almost rare in the center and over cooked at the ends. They would do better to suvee larger cuts like this. Also, the asparagus was over cooked although seasoned just fine. Well go back again, but this time sit at the bar to enjoy drinks and appetizers only.

This place flaunts itself as an upscale restaurant with the tastes and service of Italys finest. In actuality it is no finer than the local Applebees and you could probably find better service at Taco Bell. Unless youre white that is. My wife and I (not white) went in for early dinner and to our surprise were all but ignored. The manager checked the table directly behind ours several times to see if everything was ok, and not once asked us. Mind you we were the only two parties in the restaurant at the time. The other table happened to be white folks. Needless to say we were not comfortable with this place and will Never return. The person serving us was pleasant enough but even she was not as attentive as the waiter for the table behind us. Overall not a good experience and really no reason whatsoever for the atrocious uninhibited blatant racist "service"

I went there for the first time. I walked in and there was no one to seat me. I had to track someone down to get a table. The decor is nice but the lighting was horrible. I had trouble reading the menu and started to get a headache from eye strain. The service once seated was good. Prompt, professional, and accommodating. I ordered the roasted chicken Alfredo and a Cesar salad. My date ordered the vodka tortellini. The salad was prepared at the table which was nice but We couldnt eat it because there was to much balsamic. The meals were good. Mine the Noodles were perfect and the chicken was done well. My dates was very flavorful and well done. Overall it was just okay. For the high price of the food I just expected more.

Nice place inside. Dont know if the food is good as we never got seated despite having a reservation. Waited 1 hour to get seated and watched people walk in, who got seated. Asked the hostess our status and she said that the table they were planning to give us was still occupied. You would think that they would accommodate with a different table, but that was never an option. We asked 3 times about our reservation status. If we didnt ask, they would have never checked in with us. Left and had a great dinner at another restaurant. If I ever have to pick eating Italian food in Gurnee, I will go to Olive Garden before Primo. At least I know they wont forget about you. Never again!!

Couldnt ask for anything more! Primo is a fantastic restaurant with fabulous food, reasonable price, and stellar service. We have made our way through the menu and everything we have had is delicious including their drink menu. If you like wine, they have an extensive list of wines by the glass or bottle. If you order a bottle and dont finish it, not to worry, you can take it home with you in a convenient wine-to-go sealed bag. If you are dining on a weekend, the specials are always a great addition. Dont pass up an opportunity to dine here. p.s. Join their Five Star Rewards program to start earning points toward free, drinks, appetizers, or entrees.

Took out-of-town guests to Primo. Never been to Primo and was excited to show off to my guests. This experience was a HUGE disappointment. First the hostess greeted us with ripped jeans and red converse sneakers. I am not a dress snob, but this was a below average appearance for restaurant that is not a dinner. 3 out of 4 dinners were horrible. 2 were over salty and 1 had no taste (my guest asked for cheese, just to try to give it taste). I am sure Primo would have taken the dinners back and ask if we wanted something else, but 3 dinners out of 4 to return is just a sign of something wrong. Will not return, Very disappointed for a bill over $200.00.

I posted these pictures a few weeks ago. I clicked on 5 stars and somehow, it only registered 3. It was brought to my attention that I had chosen 3 stars. I am correcting it now because without a doubt, Primo Italian American Cuisine is 5 Stars! If you plan to go there know that you will be treated like family. The staff is warm and welcoming. The owners are beyond gracious and the food is simply awesome. The beautifully appointed dining room has a gorgeous fireplace and elegant privacy. If youre looking to celebrate a family event or romantic evening, Primo Italian is THE place for your next night out. Simply the best!

The location is beautiful, nice atmosphere. We started with the stuffed meatball appetizer, which was delicious. For dinner I had the lamb shank and my husband had the fettuccini alfredo. They were okay, but nothing spectacular. I had ordered a side of cauliflower, but it wasnt brought out, but we had so much food I decided not to bring it to our waiters attention. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, which was excellent. We were celebrating so we decided to give this pricier restaurant a try, and we just werent blown away. Probably wont be going back considering how expensive it is.
