I just signed up this year to bring my dog to Beck Lake. First off, you must have a pass to enter (theres a lock) and the fee was increased this year to $55. With that out of the way, its actually much bigger than it seems with a few different areas for dogs to explore. Theres the actual dog lake near the entrance, a creek that runs back into a forest area. Behind the forest area (all completely fenced in for leash-free trail walking) is a prairie grass area with a couple of different paths through it. Regulars tell me its almost a mile and a half from end to end. There are doggie bag dispensers throughout as well as the occasional picnic table for resting. it actually looks like they are putting in some new bridges over the creek so its good to see the county continuing to invest in the park. The only thing I dont like is that absolutely no food is allowed. I understand the reasoning behind it but I just dont agree, especially if you want to work on off-leash skills in a fenced in area. Oh, and the countys website for this location is atrocious. Like Geocities bad. Aside from that, this is a great place to bring a dog and go for some long walks.

For those reading - you must apply to get in. It is not open for "walk ups". And, thats good for all dogs involved, as they require proof of vaccinations. It is $55 for Cook County residents, $110 for non residents per year. I was a member with my previous dog 12 years ago when it was not regulated by Cook County, and it was amazing then. I just signed up my new dog and am looking forward to seeing all the improvements. There was never any benches, picnic tables, poop bags, or bridges 12 years ago - all of which exist now! I was blown away by the size and variety of landscape - grass for fetch, pond for swimming (not Beck Lake, but a separate pond), woods for exploring, and tall grasses to "hunt" for critters. My previous dog loved it and I know my new one will too.

We have been coming to Beck Lake Dog Park for a a couple months now and truly enjoy the experience! My dog is able to swim, run, play and socialize with other dogs-she feels free and comfortable here! The grounds are well taken care of and it is nice to spend time here with my dog. You need a badge from Cook county and a key to get in, you can apply on their website and trust me, it is worth it! This is the perfect place to socialize your dog.

Today was our second day at the park. We and our dog loves the area. Its huge! Has some really nice wooded areas with trails and cool little bridges. The registration was easy. We got our key in the mail in just 2 days. I was able to email the office the vet report and they were very prompt in responding and getting us set up so we can all enjoy the park as soon as possible. Thank you!

This is a giant park. Room for your dog to run forever. Just know that if the ground is not frozen that your dog will get muddy. Also, if you have a water dog (I have a Lab), there is a pond that will be irresistible to them. My dog loves this place.

Registered, paid the fee and was mailed the wrong access key. I called the FPDCC permit department multiple times; they assured me a replacement key would be sent -- never happened. The season is now over and I didnt get a single use out of my $55.

We drove all the way there and when we arrived at the gate it had a key lock so we couldnt get in! Why doesnt it state this anywhere? What a waste of time. It would be helpful if you had this in the description.

Very large open space. I tend to go early in the morning since my dog is on the smaller side.
