HPAC is totally worth the trip from Logan Square to the Hyde Park. Its one of the best places to see art in the city. They utilize the large meandering space really well and there are usually a few different exhibitions going on at one time. I love to explore the space, there are a few sweet hidden passages, weird corridors, a library and interesting shows grace the main space. Also, their halloween celebration is the best in the city!!

The Hyde Park Art Center has an industrial design an features tons of unique art and creative arts classes. I took a knitting class there and while knitting isnt my forte, it turned out to be a great way to meet people in the area. It also has a cafe (Bridgeport Cafe) that is sort of overpriced in food, but their donuts are good.

Its a relatively small museum / art center, but its nice! Its certainly worth a visit if youre in the area, and the attached cafe makes a good cup of coffee. If youre just looking to browse some art, I might not go out of my way from a faraway neighborhood, but they also offer classes/activities that I havent yet looked into.

The Hyde Park Art Center has moved to 5020 S. Cornell. The 53rd street address was the location until mid 2006. Google Maps has two entries for "Hyde Park Art Center" -- this one is out of date.

Tourists need to see this place if they want the right to say they have been to Chicago. Though it is not the art institute this place is another diamond within the ruff of Chicago.

I work with Kuumba Lynx and they allow us to do youth programming there once a week. This is an AMAZING space, but like most Hyde Park venues parking is horrible.

Take nice art classes in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood. Great place for local art and grab a bite at the adjacent Bridgeport Cafe.
