Ok so I went to this place to play an early morning round Tuesday at 730. The gentlemen told me that he could not match the GolfNow rate cause the point of the system was to reserve ahead of time. Seeing as I was one of two cars in the lot at that hour I figured he could make an exception, but I get it rules are rules I should of booked through the site. So I pay my green fee and head out. I should also note that I specifically checked their website to ensure this was not a Par 3 course. Once I get out there and look at the scorecard I quickly realize that the course consists of 2 par 4s and 1 par 5, the rest (15 HOLES) being par 3s. once again I can accept some fault for not researching exactly what an executive course meant. The actual play is where the true low ranking of my review comes from however. The course is very tightly laid out and extremely poorly marked. 80% of the holes you cannot see the green, which is understandable on a par 3 course, but they didnt even have signs out at the tee boxes depicting the layout of the holes or yardage. While this information is available on the scorecard, the teen box signs usually have some yardage for obstacles and sand traps which is useful information and how for the green is from the turn and so on. Most of the cart paths are also poorly marked and you have to guess which way to go to even get to the next hole. On top of that one of the two par 4s on the course was so badly maintained that I couldnt even tell which fairway was mine and which way I was supposed to drive. On the second par 4 I was excited to finally use a club that wasnt a 7,8,9 or wedge only to find a maintenance crew in the smack center of the fairway. I understand they need to do maintenance but once you see me, you could at least stop work and move your carts from the middle of the fairway so that I dont have to drive into the gully to the right of the green (this was a drivable par 4) to avoid hitting you, but the maintenance crew couldnt be bothered to stop their work and as such I had a wasted drive on one of the only two par 4s on the course. Long story short this course sucks, I could of gotten over some of the simple things and even take some responsibility, but the course flat out sucks and isnt worth the 25 bucks I paid to play!!!!

WHAT A JOKE OF A GOLF COURSE. MY BROTHERS AND I WANTED TO FIND A DECENT, NEW PLACE TO PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF AND MAN WERE WE DISAPPOINTED. FIRST OF ALL, IT WASNT AN ACTUAL GOLF COURSE, THERE WAS MAYBE 5 HOLES THAT WERENT PAR 3S THE REST WERE. (DID NOT TELL US WHEN WE SIGNED UP) SECOND, THE TEE BOXES WERE... WELL I TAKE THAT BACK I WOULDNT EVEN CALL THEM TEE BOXES, MORE LIKE DIRT MOUNDS THAT HAVENT SEEN MAINTENANCE IN QUITE SOMETIME. THIRD, THE GREENS WERE ABSOLUTELY EMBARRASSING. I COULD PUTT A STRAIGHTER LINE OUT IN MY FRONT YARD. (WEEDS GROWING OUT OF THEM, DEAD PATCHES, ETC). FOURTH THING THAT REALLY TICKED ME OFF AND WAS QUITE EMBARRASSING WAS THE FACT THAT THE COURSE ALLOWS PEOPLE TO PLAY "SOCCER GOLF????" ON THE SAME HOLES YOU PLAY YOUR ROUND OF GOLF. SO NOT ONLY WAS I WAITING ON TEENAGE KIDS TO GET OUT OF MY WAY OF KICKING SOCCER BALLS ON THE SAME PLAYING SURFACE THAT I AM CHIPPING AND PUTTING (WHICH PROBABLY EXPLAINS THE REASON THERE ARE BAD DIVOTS AND DEAD PATCHES ON THE GREEN). AND LASTLY, I PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! $30 DOLLARS FOR THE TWILIGHT ROUND. IM NOT A PERSON TO MAKE CRITICAL REVIEWS BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COURSE TO ANYONE! I GOT WORSE PLAYING THIS COURSE

Steel Canyon is a genuine bargain. The golf course is an "executive" size course with only one par 5 and lots of par 3s Holes 8 and 14 are long par 3s and when you play them from the back, they will really challenge you. Also, some of the par 4s challenge you with demanding approach shots. Many slopes to greens and fairways, so positioning is always an issue. The greens are reasonably good. Again, for the price you pay, its a great bargain. Plus you have a driving range, and there arent many of them in town. The staff is professional and courteous. Theyre a lot of pros offering lessons so theres something here for golfers of (almost) all levels. OK, so a true pro will destroy the course, and its too challenging for an absolute beginner. But for anybody in between, youll enjoy the experience. Theyve recently added foot-golf so thats an added bonus for youngsters. Ive been going there for about 14 years on an almost daily basis and have seen it go through multiple management/ownership changes, but its better managed and in better shape overall today (summer 2016) than ever. All the other reviews are correct. There were some seriously jacked up greens, more like hard browns. Unplayable. That said, I just went and checked the status and saw this: Effective July 13th, the Blue Heron golf course will be closed for two months while we plant brand new, Champion Bermuda grass greens. They will play and putt better than ever before. In addition, we will be making other substantial improvements to the golf course and clubhouse for you. That should be open mid September and Ill be there. I love this course for several reasons. Foremost, Im an average golfer, but I enjoy a challenge. This isnt your average, straight-shot executive course. Youve got to actually PLAY the course, not just hit the ball. That makes it interesting and fun. Plus, its affordable and close to my office, so its a great way to wait out rush hour. You cant beat it. Im looking forward to getting out and enjoying the newly renovated course! See you in September.

I have golfed at some bad courses in the past but this one tops the list. Tee boxes and greens are terrible. Just take a look at the practice putting area, the worst. Having to deal with footie golfers is another distraction the strangest experience any golfer could have. Golf cart that we had the breaks were bad and with the golf paths you need perfect breaks. Steep hills with curves and major water run off, if you go off the cart path you could be seriously hurt. I will tell you if they do not address this major safety issue someone will get seriously hurt or even worse may cause death. Im usually a very aggressive driver, I took everything slow! Im shocked that this course is still in business and they dont have an law suits pending with cart accidents, footie golfers getting hit with golf balls. I wouldnt recommend this course to my worst enemy. Stay away, trust me.

Its one of the crappiest courses you can ever play on. I have played on courses all around the world during my travels and none are as bad as this one. The grass on the fairway is so long that you can stand right above your ball and not be able to see it. The signs are inadequate, missing and confusing. Its very easy to get lost when going from one hole to the next. I see 14/15 year old kids sharing clubs and walking the course and mind you this course is completely hilly so all groups behind these kids were backed up by 45 mins. Another time I saw a father teaching his son with four balls on the green and everyone else behind them was backed up. There is no ranger to ask golfers to pick up the pace. A round will easily take 6 hrs here. Pro-shop has pathetic and bad quality food.
